Ophelia Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Three-part serial set in modern-day London but the killer is re-enacting the crimes of 'Jack the Ripper'. It starts tomorrow night on ITV and, judging from the write-up in the 'Radio Times', it looks as if it will be good, if a tad scary! Quote
Chrissy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I saw this being advertised, and I thought it looked good too! I can do scary! *yikes* Quote
Ophelia Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 I am just going to settle down with the 'From Hell' DVD just to get into the spirit of the thing! Quote
Kell Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Ooh, if I get the chance I'll have to see this - I'm into all things Ripper! Quote
Charm Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Oh I love Jack the Ripper stuff! (That doesn't sound quite right does it but you know what I mean) .. I'll definately have to sky+ this Quote
pipread Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Looks good, I`ll either be watching or recording this. Quote
Ben Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I'll definitely be watching this or recording it! Quote
Stephanie2008 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'm really looking forward to this but I'm going to record all three episodes and watch them one after the other as I don't like it when they're spread over 3 weeks. Quote
BrainFreeze Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'm another who's going to be watching - and another who's into all things 'Ripper'. Quote
Ophelia Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 I hope you all enjoy the programme (if we can 'enjoy' anything that gruesome). I, too, am fascinated by all things 'Ripper'. I've read several books on the subject and each one of them names a different suspect as the killer. I suppose that is part of the case's enduring fascination for us - no-one really knows 'whodunnit'! A really good 'Ripper' web-site is http://www.casebook.org (if I remember correctly) Quote
Ben Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Not sure If I'm going to get chance to see this, might have to catch up on Itv player. Quote
Janet Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 We watched this last night and thought it was great. The best thing ITV have done for years! Roll on next week. What did everyone else think? Quote
pipread Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I wasn`t sure about it to begin with, but soon really got into it. I was hoping it would be on consecutive nights, but no, got to wait another week. I agree Janet, I think it`s the best ITV have done for quite a while. Quote
Chrissy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Haven't watched it yet - will sit down with OH at the weekend and watch together! Quote
Charm Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I'm really looking forward to this but I'm going to record all three episodes and watch them one after the other as I don't like it when they're spread over 3 weeks. Same here. I skyplussed the whole lot and will watch them at the end altogether Quote
Kell Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I missed it as Xander decided not to go to bed at his bedtime! I shall have to see it at a later date... Quote
Ophelia Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 I thought it was very good. Lots of good, strong characters in it and very chilling. Some scenes were a bit too graphic for me so I had to cover my eyes! I'm looking forward to next week's installment! Quote
Nici Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Throughly enjoyed it. Brilliant! Roll on next week. Quote
Weave Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I really enjoyed it, my sister who has a interest in Jack the Ripper found it very interesting, a really good drama and I am looking forward to the next part. Quote
Colin Jacobs Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Well it is obvious who the ripper is (No I have not read the book) It is not really dark enough for me but will watch it through to the end. Quote
Weave Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Well it is obvious who the ripper is (No I have not read the book) It is not really dark enough for me but will watch it through to the end. Do you mean the tour guide Colin? that would be too obivious but at the same time, so obivious, we might not guess Quote
Colin Jacobs Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Actually no I think it is the OCD Chief inspector Quote
SueK Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I really enjoyed this too and am looking forward to the next episode. I love Rupert P-J and his quaint meticulous behaviour with his tiger balm (lol) and antibacterial gel for his hands. Nice touch. I thought it was manacing too, with the dim lighting and the glimpse of the ripper going past some shots. Not sure who it is yet (even though I've read the spoiler) but just like to keep my options open. After all, we never knew who the real Jack was did we. Quote
Weave Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Actually no I think it is the OCD Chief inspector Good call Colin, I never thought of that Quote
Michelle Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Actually no I think it is the OCD Chief inspector What makes you think that Colin.. and wasn't he otherwise occupied when the murders took place? Do you mean the tour guide Colin? that would be too obivious but at the same time, so obivious, we might not guess I was thinking the same Paula! Quote
