Last night (Saturday) CNN broadcast a live performance on CNN of the hit Broadway show by George Clooney titled Good Night and Good luck. It was great to see a live performance again as spectacular as this one and on live TV. George Clooney was awesome in the lead role as the legendary TV announcer Edward R. Murrow. In fact all of the performers were great. If you get a chance to see a re-run of this show i strongly recommend it. Please read the following to get a better idea of the live show. ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’ revisits history and is set to make some on Saturday. Here’s how to watch | CNN Looks excellent, Muggle. Disturbing that Clooney says what's happening now is worse than the McCarthy era, it must feel very similar to those who experienced it. It amazes me that people find Trump charismatic, I find him repulsive, always have. I feel the same way about Hitler. He came across as a ranting, ridiculous idiot but just shows you how dangerous people like this are. And how so many get sucked in by them. But as Clooney says, Trump's rule will end and hopefully lessons will be learned and more safeguards put in place so a President can't wield such destructive power ever again. 1 Quote

If Trump doesn’t make changes so that he can stay in power. Quote

He's definitely getting more and more delusional. He recently posted that Biden was executed in 2020 and has been replaced by clones and robots 🤣 2 Quote

Every day for lunch I will eat a generous amount of them. Blackberry pie will come later with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Blueberries will be at their peak in about 2 weeks. Saturday there will be some for picking. They are late this year due to the rain that we have got. But, blackberries are my favorite. 1 Quote
Madeleine Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Blackberries here tend to be quite bitter so you have to mix them in with something else or put loads of sugar on them! Quote

Blackberries can have a little bit of sour taste if they are picked too soon. Because they are "black" does not mean they are ripe. I look for 2 things when I pick blackberries. The ones that are "plump" give a good indication, but even more important, I don't pick a berry if it does not fall off into my hand when picking. If you have to give a little pull on the blackberry it means it isn't quite ripe. 1 Quote
Madeleine Posted June 14 Posted June 14 These are ripe, and another tip, never pick any at ground level...... Quote
muggle not Posted July 5 Author Posted July 5 My favorite "Clip" on the 4th of July, if you watch it, please see it through to the end for a surprise appearance: https://youtu.be/EKeYS1P9j1c?si=JbN0GLZR_HMpPUxG 1 Quote
muggle not Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 Picked some blueberries and blackberries today. This will be the last of the blackberry picking as the season is about over for them. Think I will make another blackberry pie. The blueberry bushes were "loaded". 2 Quote
France Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Our blackberry season is about to start (providing we get some rain ) and I'll be making blackberry icecream which is something you really don't get in the shops. 1 Quote
Madeleine Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I have a blackberry bush growing up through one of my hydrangeas, not where I want it at all! The fruits are just starting to form. 1 Quote

Madeleine Posted July 14 Posted July 14 No it's a bit difficult to see where it's actually growing from as the hydrangea is in full leaf and flower now, obviously I can't put any weedkiller down, it seems to be sprouting in all directions! Quote

Well that is very unlucky 😅. Maybe you could just keep cutting it back for now, wait until you dead-head the hydrangea flowers and then see if you can find the base of the blackberry to pull it out? Maybe you could even re-plant it somewhere else (although I don't know how hard that would be, I've never grown a blackberry bush!). Quote
Madeleine Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Yes I think it will have to wait til it's finished, I don't want a blackberry bush, I have some down the end of the garden which are enough, I hate the prickles and don't even like blackberries! So hopefully at some point someone will be able to dig it out, though it could of course be coming through from somewhere else. Quote

Very invasive and difficult to get rid of. But we used to pick them along the side of the road in the country. All sprayed now, so not safe to eat. However, there are thornless varieties available for the home gardener, I've always meant to get some. 1 Quote
