RIP - Duane Eddy

Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer dies aged 86©Provided by Metro
Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Duane Eddy has died aged 86. The Grammy-winning artist died of cancer on Tuesday in hospital in Tennessee, surrounded by his family. His representative told Variety: ‘Duane inspired a generation of guitarists the world over with his unmistakable signature ‘Twang’ sound. He was the first rock and roll guitar god, a truly humble and incredible human being. He will be sorely missed’

Kris Kristofferson has passed away at age 88. 🙁 Kris was a legend in the music business and was also a fairly good actor. He wrote many great songs and was also a good singer. I hate to list favorites but I think my favorite was Me and Bobby McGee especially when sung by Janis Joplin. He wrote so many songs.

Sad to hear this today. I loved his music.

Another very sad loss was Dame Maggie Smith.

Sad to report that Diesel, who played Rex in the TV series Hudson and Rex, passed away at the age of 8, after complications following a ruptured spleen.  However the series is continuing with his nephews, Dillon and Dante, stepping into his paw prints.🐕‍🦺

Connie Francis - May she R.I.P.

In the 50's and 60's she was a huge success with songs like Who's Sorry Now and Everybody's Somebody's Fool.

Francis retired in 2018, and lived in Florida the remainder of her life.[54] In May 2025, her 1962 song "Pretty Little Baby" went viral on TikTok, becoming a sleeper hit; when reached for comment, Francis said she had forgotten about the song but was pleased that her music—and the innocence it sought to represent—was being embraced by a younger audience.[55]

Sad news. Very popular here in the 50's and 60's. It sounds like it's a pity her father wouldn't let her marry Bobby Darin.

I believe that her life would have personally been happier. Professionally she probably would have had an even bigger repertoire of hit songs, Darin was a good song writer.

Ozzy Osbourne, legendary singer/founder member of Black Sabbath who were in turn founders of the British Heavy Metal genre of music - not everybody’s taste I know but he was a legend before he became a reality TV star.

He certainly was a legend, a true character, I'm not a huge fan either but listening to some of the songs they've been playing he was more talented than his notoriety could lead you to believe.

What impressed me the most is how he had a concert and sang creditably only a couple of weeks before he died. I think the TV series the family made showed a quite different side to him, he was really just a softie.

Sad to see Patricia Routledge has passed away in her sleep at 96 years. A very accomplished actress but probably best remembered and loved as Hyacinth Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances 💕🥀

Sad to hear of Jilly Cooper's sudden death at the weekend, apparently after a fall. I've only read one of her books but she was a great character, such a shame.

Sad to see that David Ball, who was the more musical half of Soft Cell, has died at 66, way too young.  Marc Almond posted a lovely tribute on Facebook.  They have a new album coming out which they'd recently finished.
