  1. I was reading till quite late. H mm, if I`d stuck to sandwiches, I could`ve read whilst eating and managed even more books. * Takes note*
  2. Thanks for the recommendation, I shall take a look. Obviously, I need to get my TBR over 1,000 at some point. I`ve read two Helen Macinnes books - Above Suspicion, and The Venetian Affair. I was really pleased to find her books so cheaply ( though, they have such lurid 70`s covers ! A bit offputting ). Hurray, a Witchy convert. I`m so pleased. Book 2 is even better.
  3. I neglected most TV and all newspapers ; I`m gradually working my way through a huge pile of newspapers ( mostly the arts sections of The Times, and just 3 Times news sections to read now, it`s about down to a 40cm pile ). I think the longest book was around 3 hours, so maybe 6 hours reading a day was needed. It is really doable, if you just focus on the books and have the incentive of reading by a certain date or losing access. Plus, I read so many great books, that I rarely felt I was doing a forced read. I genuinely enjoyed picking up the Kindle to keep reading. I`m starting a new list of Kindle Unlimited books which I`d like to read, and then will get a month`s access towards the end of 2018/beginning of 2019.
  4. A couple of great pages : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5208399/Adorable-New-Zealand-penguin-hops-greets-human-friend.html https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/four-legs-good/100897282/furry-friday-charismatic-cats-in-charge
  5. Ooh, that's a bargain. It's 99p here. Fingers crossed that you like it.
  6. I haven`t heard of those, thanks. I gave up Kindle Unlimited a few days ago, but I`m planning to take out a month`s subscription towards the end of this year, or beginning of this year, so I`ve put your suggestion on my `to try` list for then.
  7. Happy Reading in 2018, Michelle ! Won't your Discworld reread take 2 years ?! , I still haven't read the last two books.

  16. Happy Reading in 2018, Brian . I recommend the Len Deighton trilogies ( game, set and match, etc ), I think they're my favourite spy thrillers.

  18. Happy Reading in 2018, Ian !
  19. It is a bit of a 'Mighty Tome' , but I found it a rewarding read ( as opposed to one of those ' that's 10 hours of my life I'm never getting back ' reads ).
  20. Happy Reading in 2018, Karen !
  21. Have you read The Wings of the Dove ? I read the last 30-40 pages like it was a trashy thriller, hunched over and feverishly turning the pages to find out what happens.
  22. Happy Reading in 2018, Michelle ! Best of luck with the studying, hopefully you can find ways of coping with the stress.
  23. I think I'm less visual ; I'm more focussed on the type of person described, so I would categorise them and guess at the sort of music, films, food and books which they would like. But, if a place or room is described , I would see it as something similar to a place I'd previously experienced myself (unless the description was so good that I would be able to construct something in my head ).
  24. I saw When Marnie was Here (oslt) recently ; a lovely film with a moving ending.
