  1. Me too, I loved Me Before You.
  2. Batch cooking here so there's a choice of Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti and Meatballs or Carbonara!! With garlic bread of course.
  3. The Past When did you start to love reading? I'm sure I've always loved reading but I first remember being absorbed in book from age 7/8 when I started independently reading proper books with chapters. What books did you love as a child (either read to or to read yourself)? Most of Enid Blyton's books, but particularly the Famous Fives, The Magic Faraway Tree series and later Malory Towers and The Twins at St Clares. I also loved Arthur Ransomes Swallows and Amazons which I read over and over... Childhood memories of reading (if you have them)? As an early teen, if the weather was good, I used to grab a book and a dog and head over to our local lake and read there. Did you read books for school? Yes, but I don't recall liking many of them, including Lord of the Flies and Romeo and Juliet. I'm hoping my kids get some more current books to read for their GCSE's! Favourites Favourite book: Human Traces and Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Night Road by Kristin Hannah and The Host by Stephenie Meyer to name just a few.. Favourite author: Too many to name.. Favourite genre(s): Mainly contemporary fiction, some Young Adult and a smattering of others.. Your Collection Do you own an ereader? Yes, I got a Kobo for Christmas. Ebooks or physical books (or both)? Both. Hardcover or paperback (or both)? Hardback to look at but paperback more comfy to read. New books or used books (or both)? Either. Big books or small books (or both)? Depends on the book. What language are most of your books written in? All in English. Favourite book shop(s): Not a lot of choice round here, generally Waterstone's or Amazon. Do you buy a lot of books? Not compared to many on here!! Do you spend a lot of money on books? As above!! Amount of owned books: I don't hoard books so only have around a 100 or so.. Amount of books read: I've only recently started counting, but well into the hundreds I should think. Amount of books TBR: I have it down to 34 at present!! Reading How often do you read? Everyday if I possibly can. Where do you read? Generally in bed, occasionally on the sofa if I have time during the day. When do you read? Mostly at bedtime. How fast do you read? Not sure of the speed but with average size books normally at least one book a week. The Forum When did you join this forum? April 2010 How did you find this forum? I found it whilst browsing the internet.
  4. We need to all live in a BCF village and then we'd always have someone to go with us to impromptu events!!
  5. I read them a couple of years ago with my daughter, it had been at least 25 years since I'd read them before! I was surprised at how much I remembered but they are now very old fashioned, we both enjoyed reading them though!
  6. Another day, another birthday!! Robbie's turn today, can't believe my youngest has turned 8!! Still cute and lovely though x x x

  7. I just watched the movie trailer and it looks very different to how I remember the book.....
  8. I enjoyed the book very much, even more so than the Twilight series and I liked them a lot. Definitely more mature and plenty of action, I may read it again before the film is released..
  9. The Decoy Bride, good fun with David Tennant..
  10. Ditto!
  11. Finally finished The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, took awhile as haven't had enough time to read lately. Started Stolen by Kelley Armstrong, the second in the Women of the Otherworld series..
  12. Nearly half way through The Housr of the Spirits, it's taking an age to get through but I am enjoying it.
  13. I'll have to try some of those stag bars for Obi, nothing seems to last long with him, he can't even have kongs as he chews through them!
  14. Ah, I see it now, Neo is gorgeous Emelee, I love to see a happy waggy tail!!
  15. It's my beautiful daughters 12th birthday today, I decorated the house last night and this morning she had pancakes and maple syrup then Lindt bunnies for her breakfast, such a shame she had to go to school!! Still, we'll celebrate properly tonight. :)

  16. Sadly, despite my best intentions more books have now been added to my TBR shelf, I say sadly but I'm not really that sad as they are both books I can't wait to read. They are... The Girl You Left Behind - Jojo Moyes (A close friend read it and thought I might like it as she knows I loved Me Before You) and The Sight - David Clement-Davies (A gift from my Mum as it is 12 years since I had my daughter, she often buys me a little pressie on the kids birthdays which is so sweet) I'm still reading The House of the Spirits, I've had so little time to read lately and when I go to bed I can barely keep my eyes open! But I think I am enjoying it so I will get there!
  17. Happy belated birthday Peacefield!! Chrissy, I read yesterdays post and thought how nice, what a lovely day you had with hubby, then I ready todays post.. These potholes make me so mad, the same happened to Steve 2 years ago and the council refused to compensate him for a damaged wheel rim as they had not been made aware of that particular pothole... I now make it my personal mission to report all local potholes at http://www.fillthathole.org.uk . It's been busy at home so I've not got on here as much as I'd like over the last few days, I had my parents stay for a long weekend which was fun and it's my daughters 12th birthday tomorrow, then my younger sons 8th birthday next week, so it's all go!!
  18. I fancied baking something different this weekend and went through some old Good Food magazines and came across a recipe for ginger cake, which actually turned out to be more of a golden syrup cake (a whole tin!!!) It was gorgeous, my 7 year old can't get enough of it and even my Mum liked it and she doesn't like cakes very much.. Definitely one to make again.. Here's a pic to tickle the taste buds!
  19. I'm not seeing a pic there, just a big white empty space?
  20. The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende... Good so far, if a little strange...
  21. I'm only a couple of chapters in and frustratingly am pushed for time at present, but what I have so far read is intriguing and not just a little strange, I'll let you know how I get on with it soon hopefully. I can imagine she was an interesting person to listen to as no one boring wrote this book!
  22. Busy thinking of ideas for my daughter and sons birthday which are both in early Feb, aarrgh!!!! Actually it is February now, double aaarrgh!!!! :D
  23. Thanks Bree..
  24. Oh, that made me laugh poppy, and I blame you if I can't sleep tonight for trying to list them too!!! If I can't sleep I usually do the A-Z challenge, usually dog breeds if I want something easy But occasionally I try for more of a challenge like countries (my Geography is horrendous, it was very embarrassing when it as revealed during a game of trivial pursuit in my early twenties that I thought Hong Kong was the capital of China...) or football teams (not so bad) or films.. If all else fails I just daydream about Hugh Jackman... or Goran Visngic.. or Eric from True Blood.. or... well you get the idea!!! :D
