I couldn't seem to find a thread for this, so my apologies if there is one already made. Do you ever start reading a series or saga before having the complete collection? It's one of my little quirks, but I won't start reading a series till I have the complete set of books. Example, I have the latest Raymond E Feist book in the chaoswar saga, but I won't start reading it till I have the other two books have been released, and on my shelf, in paperback format may I add. Am I the only one who does this? I sometimes think I am haha.

I often like to read with a fan going, or some other noise in the background like rain. I have Menieres disease (among other issues) which means I have constant ringing In my ears, and problems with my balance. If I have complete silence I end up with headaches. In saying that though, I have never been able to successfully read the tv has been on! I can read on a train, or while listening to a radio however haha. I try to read when my family is out of the house, and often read in bed before sleep, but even then my bf seems to get into these chatty moods before sleep.

just ordered my fourth book for the year off BD - The book thief. Thanks to you all for drawing my attention to it!

I'm a big R.E.F. and Robin Hobb fan, do you guys think I will enjoy Terry Brooks? The Shannara series looks appealing to me, but not so much the Landover one.

I'm just as excited at seeing the bookmarks as I am the books! lol. I'm awaiting three books on the way from BD.

I won't touch chick-lit, the genres name is off putting enough as is, and I am a bit of a tomboy so none of the romance stuff either. Harry potter is another series I would avoid, I can't stand Daniel Radcliffe and when I look at the Harry potter books now, it's his voice I hear in my head.

Yeah I can't believe I didn't know about it earlier, Kmart are good for paper backs but they rarely have any old books in stock.

I have a book string my sister gave me one year, has some nice stones either end to make it easier to see. I absolutely love it! Otherwise I tend to use the free bookmarks that I get from book depository, I have a draw full of them because it's where I buy pretty much every book hehe.

I have a bookshelf in the lounge that stores my favourite authors series - Raymond E. Feist (all books up to current), two of Robin Hobbs series and John Marsden's Tomorrow series. I have them set up by author and reading order, which is no easy task with Raymond E. Feists books haha. I have a list next to them that says which book is in which saga, and if it's essential to the main story or not. I also have a shelf in my gaming room with more books, some of which are TBR, but I hope to restore my spare room as a library once my sister moves on, she is currently in between houses. Without counting I think I would have 100 or so books.

Makes sense, I imagine you would need two years to make a list so large haha. I will work with the 2010 one then I think, after I stop looking through the amazon e-books that is.

Thank you! No I haven't, my experience of books to movies have never been good, and I wouldn't want to wreck my beloved experiences with the books by watching the movie. Sadly I don't have any friends who have ever read the books and seen the movie, so I can't gather any idea on what it really is like. Have you seen it?

I just finished Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter by Josh Gates (kinda a fan of the show) and loved it! He tells of all the places he has travelled and the sights he has seen, and I am a bit of a travler myself. I just started Raymond E. Feist - Rides A Dread Legion, which is a part of a two book series, and part of the main story that's many books long.It's been slow going to get into it for me, I'm only up to chapter 7 after three days of reading (they are aroud 20 page chapters).

I would love to be Fitz in the assassins apprentice series by robin hobb. I imagine it would of been rather exciting to be something taboo like an assassin. Having the skill (ability to speak to some animals through the mind, and people) would also be pretty handy!

Has anyone read the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks? And the book thief really seems to be a good read, I think I may just have to pick a copy up myself.

I don't remember how young I was but John marsden's tomorrow series got me all emotional, the only books that's ever made me cry really. I must of read the series 8 or 9 times.

I keep meaning to try and find the time to go through the 2010 list, but after reading about the free e-books with amazon, I have been spending the last two nights going through them all, downloading interesting looking ones to the kindle app on my iPad haha. I've been meaning to set myself a reading challenge for awhile now, I do rather enjoy them. When I used to do the MS readathon every year when I was younger, my parents would always say "I bet you can't read x amount of books". Is there a 2011 list out yet?

Hey, long time reader, first time member of a book forum. I'm 27, from Australia, love reading, gaming (consoles, pc) and photography. I've been looking for a good book forum for ages and finally found this place. I read just about any book that peaks my interest, but I would have to say my favourite genre would be fantasy.
