  1. I watched 127 Hours last night. Wow! I must admit I had to fast forward a bit through a few minutes near the end, but it was an excelent film altogether!
  2. Neither have I, but I would love to! Never have I ever been scuba diving.
  3. The Amityville Horror. Only book with which I have ever had a 'night reading' problem.
  4. Aha! Thanks, Chrissy . I would say rings on fingers. Miles Davis or Chet Baker?
  5. Jennifer was great in Winter's Bone, and she was nominated for an Oscar so I say she's a good bet . Mind you I've not read the Hunger Game books, but she's a great actress!
  6. Tigers Times New Roman or Trebuchet MS? PS: What's 'blu-tack?'
  7. I have! Never have I ever had my nose pierced.
  8. You're right, Chesil, sorry . When I first read the description for that episode I was unsure but I just checked again and saw them referring to Jonas, which reminded me of something . I'm hoping it's new episodes from here on out, Kylie. I know with Bones, which is on the same network here and on right after TVD, they have new eps starting tomorrow too and will have 7 in a row until the finale in May. Hopefully it's the same for the Salvatore bros!
  9. I saw Paul, and while I enjoyed it, it definitely wasn't up there with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Still, seeing Simon and Nick on the big screen is always a good thing! I watched Welcome to the Rileys last night and it was surprisingly pretty good. James Gandolfini was excellent in it!
  10. I read a few pages of The Neighbors this morning and quite a lot after work this afternoon. Loving it!
  11. Chesil, which episode did you guys leave off on over in the UK? They finally start up again tomorrow night here, and I believe we left off with episode #15 'The Dinner Party.'
  12. Duncan, if you enjoyed Frasier, you might like the older series called Cheers. The Frasier character was originally on that show for a couple of seasons then they gave him is own spinoff show. Including the other great suggestions from you guys, I would also highly recommend Seinfeld . It's my fave, hands down. Beware though, the very first season is not the best. All the others are hilarious though.
  13. Oooooh Amityville Horror, Pixie, excellent! Some creepy stuff there - I loved it but couldn't read it at night. I'd love to go to New York and see the real house too!
  14. I saw Robert Duvall in Get Low yesterday and man, what an excellent film! He was amazing (as always), and Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek were great as well. Two big thumbs up from me!

Welcome to BCF, Lainy! Glad you've joined us .
  16. Hey there and welcome to BCF, Jimothy! Do you have any favorite authors you like to read?
  17. I'm about to make these really tasty Asian chicken burgers so I'll have one with my salad tonight. They'll make good lunches for the rest of the week as well .
  18. Oooh excellent book, Carrie, Cookie! I'm about 100 pages into The Neighbors and have read another 3 stories in my pioneer book. It's so interesting to read how new it was even here in the city way back before MN was recognized as a state. Military forts and Native Americans in teepees right next door to eachother!
  19. Baseball on the radio. We are majorly sucking in our first series of the season, sheesh!
  20. Excellent book, Lauraloves! Hope you like it This morning I decided to start The Neighbors by Carol Smith . Something nice and creepy!
  21. The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag by Alan Bradley Synopsis via Waterstones: 'I was lying dead in the churchyard...' So says eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce - but soon a murder provides a gruesome distraction from her own death...A travelling puppet show arrives in the sleepy English village of Bishop's Lacey, and everyone gathers to watch a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk in the village hall. But a shadow is cast over proceedings when a shocking murder takes place during the performance - a murder which strangely echoes a tragedy that occurred many years before. For Flavia, undoing the complex knot that ties these strands together will test her precocious powers of deduction to the limit - and throw a revealing light into some of the darker corners of the adult world... Great job again Mr. Bradley! Another lovely installment of a Flavia de Luce mystery that I really enjoyed. I love the way the author is so detailed and descriptive of the village of Bishop's Lacey, and all the characters in it. They aren't your typical 'quirky' neighbors either, they have real depth which is refreshing. I guess you can just call Alan Bradley's books captivating . I could not have guessed the true murderer if I tried, and whilst reading and trying to figure it out I got to laugh and chuckle at almost everything that came out of Flavia's mouth. My only minor complaint would be that there was quite a lot of story before the actual murder happened, so the solving of it seemed a bit rushed. I was also left curious about a couple of characters and where they ended up after Flavia solved the mystery. Otherwise I loved it and am looking forward to reading the 3rd installment. Highly recommended series, you guys!
  22. Today is the first day of baseball season, YEEHAW!! I'm listening to the Blue Jays/Twins game right now and unfortunately we are majorly sucking, but we play again tomorrow so hopefully it'll go better.
  23. I finished the Alan Bradley last night and this afternoon started reading a couple of stories from Old Rail Fence Corners. I think I might read something alongside it since it's a collection, but I just haven't decided what yet.
  24. I've got 55 pages left of The Weed Strings the Hangman's Bag, so I'm about to log off and hopefully finish it tonight! I'll try and post my thoughts this weekend .
  25. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the Alan Bradley and am enjoying it muchly .
