  1. Good for you Virginia that is a good weight loss. I have lost 7 lbs in the last two weeks hopefully more to follow. The staples I like to keep in are: Eggs Chicken Onions Mushrooms Peppers Stock cubes Carrots Tomatoes Cucumber Melon Yogurts and black pepper I try not to eat too much meat and certainly don't eat red meat, but I think if you have got eggs, onions and mushrooms in you are never stuck for a meal.
  2. Well that last episode was strange. I sometimes wonder why Dr Watson just stands there looking confused and not really taking part in anything that is going on whilst Sherlock runs around, it is like he is not part of any of it. I know I said at the end of the episode that was good, but ask me now what happened at the end and I could not tell you.
  3. We are watching A New Life in the Sun - this is series 2 which follows expats as they chase a dream life in the sun. Funny at times and seeing the businesses that people go into.
  4. I think January is the time that we all - well lots of us start thinking about trying to cut down a bit. I have been on my healthy eating for the last two weeks and after getting weighed this morning have lost 7 lbs from the two weeks. Which is good for the first two weeks but I know it will slow down from now on. When I go on my health eating I love it because I have structure and have to plan my meals and buy in what I need. Otherwise I just eat anything and if I cannot be bothered we get a takeaway, that is when the weight starts to creep on as it has done. Good job I like fruit and vegetables.

    Tennis

Watched the tennis and must admit I thought Andy would go out, he had many times that he put some stunners past his opponent but other than that Mischa Zverev seemed like it was his day to shine. Dan Evans I find to be a fire cracker as in you don't know what he is going to do. He can so easily turn it around but I think Tsonga was just too much for him. Good try though. Johanne Konta has been amazing this last 6 months and has been sailing through her matches in the Australian Open but she is up against Serena Williams next who still feels she has something to prove by winning. Fingers will be firmly cross for Konta though.
  6. My book reading the same as a lot of people depends on my mood. If it is an author that I have read before and enjoyed the book then I am more tempted to pick another book by that author. But then again I can go for ages without reading a book and just read a magazine. Because I have got such a large tbr list I go by how many days I am likely to be able to read for at one go and if it is an easy book to leave if I have to for a week before picking it up again. Hefty books I have to think long and hard about but if I like the sound of the story I will start it and stop off and read something else inbetween as well.
  7. We had snow again over the weekend but it didn't last for long and soon melted. It is very cold and I do wish the fog would lift.
  8. I am also working my way through Timeless it is a good watch
  9. That is good news for book shops, I have started reading a lot more books than on my Ipad. With being on a computer all day looking at a screen I am finding it easier to read a book and I don't fall asleep so quickly. Before Christmas when I was trying to read a book on my iPhone I would read about a page and then wake up an hour later and be about 50 pages further on than I should be.
  10. Abbie Whitmore stood at the back of the crowd at the steps of the town hall, easily blending in with the mass of people also dressed in somber dark suits. Bodyguard - James Patterson
  11. Episode 2 watched and I thought it was amazing eventually. Wondered what on earth was going on at first, once I learned to stop trying to do something else at the same time as watching it and paid attention. They are dark and strange and I think it makes it interesting and so different from anything else we watch.
  12. We had our first snow over the weekend, the good thing is that it had cleared up within hours because usually the first sign of snow and the whole place comes to a stand still. Now it is just really cold, this is the first year where the cold is giving me very bad headaches, cannot do with that, roll on the summer.
  13. Frankie sorry for the mistake in my last message it should have read "are now on my tbr pile" My neighbour has been telling me that he is finding books are not selling and DVD's for some reason. Hubby is now very happy he can get back to doing what he wants with his free time, bless him. That was good of you to take the books to the libraries book swap.
  14. I find it very therapeutic when I have a good clear out. Havent read the book but when I see items in magazines about tidying up my hubby gives a groan. I think it was in November that we started clearing the loft in the garage out which stored untold things. That was a big job which took us until last week to finalise. Charities benefited, our neighbour took a load of stuff to sell which benefits the boys brigade and as I said in another thread found lots of books that I had not read so are not on my tbr pile.
  15. Over the weekend I read Amazing Beasts and where to find them - JK Rowling - brilliant book was sorry when it ended.
  16. I have started pottering around Waterstones again and as long as they are a good price will buy some. But otherwise if I hear of a good book on here or I am looking at books on line I will give hubby a list of titles and he finds me the cheapest price which usually ends up being from Amazon and he adds them when ordering other things.
  17. Back on my health eating from today so had porridge for breakfast and having home made quiche for lunch - no pastry involved.
  18. They are so wonderful - finally caught up with last weeks over the weekend
  19. The only thing that could save me was a losing hand. Taking the Titanic - A heist to remember - James Patterson
  20. I think I have only ever abandoned one book. Cannot remember the name of it, because it was such hard work to read the content was just not registering with me. It went straight into the charity shop bag. I think that is why now I have three or four books on the go at once so that if something is a bit slow I can still pick a book up that I am enjoying and run with that one.
  21. Love In a Cold Climate - Nancy Mitford
  22. I could not believe it when I saw this on the news. I wasent sure why they were showing his hits until they said he had died, beyond belief. This year has been so awful for celebrities.
  23. Finished the year off by reading The Parisian Christmas Bake Off by Jenny Oliver and The Cosy Christmas Teashop by Cathy Bramley.
  24. I missed out on this book for 99p but noticed it was on for £3 today. This is still cheaper than I was going to pay for it over the weekend but decided against it as it was too expensive in book form.
  25. I haven't watched any films so far this year but I have made myself a promise to start watching my large supply of films. At the end of last year I watched a classic The Bells of St Marys which I love and the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
