  1. I must admit I don't look to see what the weather is supposed to be doing, I look out the window and take it from there. Well after all that rain yesterday it has not been too bad today,

True its easy to judge at the end of the match. We have a T20 to look forward to and then the one dayers. Still a lot of cricket to come this year when they play Pakistan in September

How bad has the finally test been. I know we had already won the Ashes but some more effort could have been put into it.

Looking forward to tomorrow and the final test, I hope it is still a good game even though we have already won the Ashes. So love saying that.
  5. I do love reading a proper book but also love my kindle as some one else said it doesent matter if it is dark you can still read away. This helps if I wake up during the night and I don't disturb my husband with putting the light on. I can usually read through anything the tv being on or music as long as it isn't lively music then I just want to dance. The worst is when someone says can I ask you something oh are you reading?

I bet it was awful for those people who had booked to go and see the cricket on the Saturday and sunday. Hoping for great things for the start of the 4th test this week. Can England do the same again please as I am going away on Monday. If they are still playing I will have to watch the scoring on my phone.
  7. It was sad to hear about Roger Rees loved watching him in Warehouse 13 as a baddie

Serena seems to get off to a slow burn at the moment, she has been losing the first set a few times but keeps plugging away until she wins, which proves why she is still number one in the world I too thought Heather was brilliant maybe a force to be reckoned with in the future. Andy Murray again today will keep fingers crossed for him, and his brother through to the semi's in the doubles.

I would like to see some new blood coming through, I think the best hope of putting Novak Djokovic out this year was Kevin Anderson and I have just seen the result for that one, of well there is next year. I have found that everytime I want someone to get beaten it doesent happen might have to try some reverse phycology.
  12. I really must put Rebecca back on my list to read. I have recently read Jamaica Inn which I found to be gripping.
  13. I am really looking forward to seeing these adaptions, I have always loved "and then there were non" this is one of her darker books. I also loved this adaption as "Murder by Death" which was played out more for laughs
  14. My book pile keeps going up and up, as I mentioned in another post I have books that I like to keep as well as reading books that I download to my ereader or phone. I try to put aside some time during each day to relax with a good book but not always possible.
  15. Hi everyone, at the moment I seem to have four books on the go. I am reading Death by Request by Jaden Skye this is book 11, I love these as they are so easy to read and it is on my phone so can ready it in bed. Also A Song for Julia by Charles Sheenan Miles this is ok but it is not grabbing me, I will continue as I don't give up on books. Torvill and Dean My Life on Ice which as this is an Autobiography I only ready a section at a time. Also James Patterson Miracle at Augusta, this I am reading if I have a spare 30 minutes at the end of the evening.

Yeah more cricket to watch from tomorrow England vs New Zealand hope they do better than they did against the west indies a couple of weeks ago. Don't you think that since there was such an uproar over Pietersen and his coming back into the side / no he's not talk was to take away from how awful the test team had performed against the west indies.
  17. Another day in paradise original was Phil Collins - Jam Tronik was so much better
  18. I don't usually like reading books that continue on book after book. I liked to read it and get on with the next one. I read A Discovery Of Witches by Deborah E Harkness all 700 + pages only to get to the end and find out that it would be continuing in book 2 and had to wait about a year for it to come out. Was miffed to say the least. I was not going to read that one again to remember what went on. Even though it was a brilliant book. Now waiting for book 3.
  19. I have always been a fan of James Patterson, but i can agree with some of the comments that are being put on this forum. Since i first put the comment on i am finding myself more and more switching off with the story lines. Is it because do you think our tastes change over time, has he written far too many books in the series, and we dont believe what happens any longer.
  20. I don't distinguish where a writer is from when I read the cover, its only at the end when I read about the author when I find out where they are from. As long as I link the story, it doesent matter to me.
  21. I am one of those that collect certain authors - James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell But I do love reading books by new authors, the first thing I notice when buying a book is the front cover, if that draws me in then I read what the book is about. This is going to get more difficult as I now have an ereader, but that doesent stop me going and browsing around book shops.
  22. I love the James Patterson books I have read all of them now and cannot wait for the next one to be realeased. I am fine with the idea of him coming up the the outline of the stories and another writer filling in the gaps. This then puts new writters out there for us to take a look at, Andrew Gross being one of them. I have now read two of his books and found them absolutely brilliant, I am now looking round for the other writers that have a hand in the james patterson books. You could say that he is helping new writers get noticed, which I am all for.

Why is it that we are so up and down in cricket. Was a brilliant match in the end possibly because of the result but you never know which was it is going to go, one minute we are up and then the next we are making stupid mistakes. KP finally showed his form which we have been waiting for for quite a while. Still end of the seat stuff right up until the end
  24. I am currently reading First Among Sequels, this is the first book by Jasper Fforde that I have read didnt realise their were others in the series. Finding this book strange but very good, and actually making me laugh out loud. Maybe it just gets my sense of humour. will certainly read more by this author
  25. I got my sony ereader for christmas and down loaded some of the free classic books but hadent got round to reading any of them as I still had quite a few hard back and paper back books on my shelf to read. But on this forum last week someone mentioned a free book to down load, so on sunday having some time to myself I did just that, and started reading it last night. As I was on the bus to work today and it takes half an hour I decided to take the ereader rather than a book or magazine, wow I am so into this idea now, and it was so easy to down load. I hate to admit but maybe this is the way to go, I do still like going into book stores though.
