The first horse I ever went on, a few years ago, tried to violently throw me off. Safe to say it's also the last horse I'll ever go on.

  6. I love it Timmo shows real talent Noll a lot of my work is taken from others as well and I just adapt it the one I am working on at the moment is very similar to the original I have added in more pattern but am becoming worried that its becoming repetetive so when I start a new one I will try and work directly out of my head. I do worry that I will run out of ideas or not even be able to draw so I take it slowly. I love your style though so realistic not something I have ever been able to do. I guess if we all drew the same it would be a boring world.
  7. Ha ha ha well he is a cowboy so he would have fitted in right there, it was a fantastic place looked like it had been abandoned in the middle of the day just everyone upped and left. They even had a couple of saloons that looked just like in the old westerns.
  8. I read a little more of Michelle Paver's Dark Matter over the weekend but with a cold and tiredness (oh and a visit to the pub) its been a book free weekend unusually for me)
  9. Have been most PQQ'ing today so need a drink luckily the pub beckons

      What's PQQ'ing? You have me baffled. : P

  10. I love it Noll, looks amazing I am terrible at doing things to look like the things they are supposed to, if that makes any sense, and if it does it answers your question. the reason I draw at such skew wiff angles is because it makes sense to me, I love distorting the perspective and playing around trying to make things appear subtly wrong. The idea for this one and a couple of my others have come from the Ilustrations of fairytale books, the round one from Sleeping Beauty. In the original its beautifully coloured and there is a figure at the top of the stairs, because I was doing it in black and white I didn't have the luxury of adding dimensions thorugh colour so instead of that I created pictures within the panels sometimes they are motifs and other times they are details of fairytales which I have taken from other books and pictures. The one I started last weekend is more straightforward and is a copy again no colour so I have to Individualise them to make them mine and add in detail which doesn't necessarily appear in the original. However a lot of the time I work straight from my own imagination and create whole scences not using any references at all.
  11. I was trying to find one of myself that isn't way out of date and that I actually don't mind (an impossible task) so I have this one from my trip to California its in Bodie a ghost mining town and all round great place.
  12. I spent half an hour on Amazon last night debating whether to get anything of my wish list and ended up getting nothing. In the back of my head all I could hear was 'save it for your holidays' totally uninspired by it at the moment. So this morning I finished one of my tree books instead.
  13. A but with the kindle you can live guilt free in the secure knowledge you are not destroying the rainforest....they are books which live in the sky as far as I am concerned and are made of air and thoughts !!! I wish I could say I am going on holiday with Christian Bale to a sun swept island instead I am going with my mum to visit family but it is in Spain and I do love going with her so not all bad.
  14. I finished my freebie book this morning before work, can't remember exactly what it was, not totaly gripping as you can tell. So I read abit more of The History Keepers tonight
  15. Ha ha ha its funy I have a few things on my wish list (I still refuse to call it a TBR list ) but inevitably I end up geting something completely different I am now persuading myself that thats because I am saving the WISH list for my hols later in the month. don't let the list dictate to you, dictate to the list its made to grow like a wild plant
  16. My mum had one to keep her family jewelry in although I don't think she has these days really though it was hardly the heist/Jason Bourne type thing more like a petty cash box which got delivered to her in the bank rather than her visiting a special room and being subjected to a retinal scan.
  17. Great review of Dracula Poopyshake glad you enjoyed it, It remains for me one of my favourite classic horrors (not that I have read that much horror it not being my thing). have you read The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova that takes the dracula ledgen a step further in a really good way.
  18. I read a bit of Dark Matter - Michelle Paver this morning and so far so good although I haven't gotten very far into it yet.
  19. wow just had a sneak peak and I defeinitely have come down on the side of fantasy and read quite a few of these not bad considering I don't read anywhere near as much fantasy as I used to.
  20. I bought 4 books from Waterstones at the weekend I know tree books and everything, my excuse was I am not taking the kindle into the bath so I needed something to read, as its the warmest place in my house. So I got a cookbook Moro which is a spanish/Moroccan book as its the type of food I love Dark Matter - Michell Paver (to be honest I was drawn by the book cover, although the synopsis looks good too) Sweetly - Jackson Pearce ( a re-telling of Hansel and Gretel finished it this moring very good) The History Keepers (The Storm Begins) - Damian Dibben a childrens book but I never let that put me off so happy reading days for me
  21. I read a few back in the dawn of time also known as my teenage years. I remember quite enjoying them in fact I might still have a few on my spare bookshelves in the back room, must dig out and have a check through.
  22. Agree with Karsa he is definitely aimed at the younger audience but I did love his books. As for Terry Brooks I never really got into him, I did read quite a few but they seemed to skip around so much and I didn't really enjoy his style, I think one of his series which was aimed at an older audience was The Knight of the Word series which was ok. Tad Williams is good though I really enjoyed The Dragon Bone Chair series. I think most of the properly defined fantasy I read though was a long time ago so I am going to have to think hard about anymore I recommend as there are bound to be newer better authors out there. Although I have read all of China Mieville's work I think certainly read a lot of them, and they are great hard work but great.
  23. I live on my own and therefore am very used to the silence and I love it!! I get irritated if I have to spend a long time in loud company not that I am anti social when I am out I am focussed on being out and its fine but when I am home its quiet and apart from talking to the guinea pigs at this time of the year I can go through whole evenings without saying a word. In the summer its a little different I sit in the garden and when you live in a terraced house its like sharing your space with the neighbours but we are a sociable bunch and have get togethers so I am used to them. I do find it odd that people can't be quiet its not something I have ever had to work at, I was quiet as a child and was often ensonced in a book happy to let my younger sister have all the attention she craved.
  24. I started and finished Rachel Vincen't Blood Bound last night it was ok but she rushed into the story almost as if you knew the back ground to the story made me wonder fo a while if I hadn'#t accidently picked up the second part.
