  1. I finished my current book this morning so am looking forward to starting Chine Mieville's - Embassytown or I might continue with two of the others I have on the go at the moment from the library whose exact name escapes me. I have been very good and not gotten anything for my Kindle so far this month (I know its only the 2nd but for me thats unusual) because I was treating it like a library and realised I have bought far to many books recently and its coming close to Christmas and I need to save.
  2. Mad dash home at lunchtime to rescue the washing from the imminent rain

  3. I am almost at the end of my current book by Keri Arthur which I got from the library this weekend, so I though I would pop onto Amazon and have a look at whether the next one is out yet thinking that I might have seen it, and there it was, thought I would have a quick look at the review and loo and behold it has ruined whats probably the climax of the book so yay thanks Mr reviewer for giving away a big spoiler.
  4. Murder Most Foul with the great Margaret Rutherford playing Miss Marple so so funny she is truly brilliant perfect viewing for a miserable Sunday afternoon.
  5. I love the rabbit Noll it looks really beautiful I started a new drawing in the studio though this is proving to really strain the eye's, and its not even half done.
  6. I managed to pick up the new China Mieville book in the library Embassytown love his work, also got a couple of others so happy days here again!
  7. I have listened to the radio in Spain but to be honest it always seems like a load of hyperactive people talking at once with very little music. These days I tend to listen to digital radion usually 6 Music I like the presenters, the music and no adverts

  16. Hi Julie welcome to the BCF its big but not scary and everyone is very lovely just come in and start posting thats what I did
  17. I loved her descriptions of the characters and the hardships they suffered and the difficulties encountered during the plague. I thought the nitty gritty was well described and the sheer horror of dying in such a horrible way ( I have seen plague pits through work though not excavated any myself). The mystical elements when not tied into superstition were a little odd but ok. I was reading The Gallows Curse when the library wouldn't let me renew it and I had to give it back unfinished.
  18. Thats brilliant I love these kinds of things
  19. I have just finished this loved the wierdness of it. Keeping an eye out for some of his other stuff now The Owl Killers is good, I have read A Company of Liars by the same author. Learnt a lot about the time period which I didn't know (and I am glad I wasn't born then either) Trying to be good at the moment as I have been overspending on books a lot recently so trying for some of the freebies on Amazon for my kindle. So far only passable books downloaded I know I will be tempted to spend if it doesn't get better soon.

  22. trying not to bore anyone but I finished another drawing at the weekend, although it gave me a headache with having to sit so close to the paper
  23. All the 2's 222 -Tess Gerritsen - Silent Girl. This is the latest in the Rizzoli and Isles series and it starts soon after the events of Killing Place, Maura Isles is giving evidence on a contraversial case against a policeman who murdered a cop killer. Her testimony in her usual cold fashio has not endeared her to the police she works with. She is called by Rissoli to a crime scene in mini China when the hand of a young woman is found at the location of a notorious murder suicide at a chinese restaurant many years before and they open a can of worms when events from the past appear to be reaching a climax now. This was typical Gerritsen, she writes some of the best crime in her genre. Although I think Killing Place was better I liked that this one focussed more on Rizzoli and not Isles who is in fact more incidental in this appearing only a handful of times, and to me that is perhaps more real of a pathologist not one who gets herself completely involved and in danger at a crime scene a la Temperance Brennan (Kathy Reichs) and Kay Scarpetta - Patricia Cornwell where I have found myself groaning at the fact that these non investigative doctors insist of doing the equivalent of walking around a dodgy area with mug me written all over them!!! 223 - Lara Adrian - Shades of Midnight I continue to read this series in dribs and drabs as she isn't a patch on J R Ward but it was going cheap on Amazon and I had just finished the above and was bored. 224 Burning Up - Various A variety of short stories including Angela Knight and Nalini Singh loved ot paranormal fantasy...loved them great for a saturday morning read
  24. finished Tess Gerritsen = Silent Girl, loved it and read one of Lara Adrian's Breed series as they appear to be cheapish in the Kindle store but I still remain ambivilent about them...so now I am searching for something to read tonight....
  25. Once upon a time it would have been something humourous like ' tracking mud through the house' or 'standing in your pants by the backdoor as your too muddy to come in through the front' ( I see I am the Leonard of Quirm for book titles) but these stem from my mum seeing the state I got home in my early digging days...these days though its more like 'I spreadsheets'
