  1. Still not happy with the ending of the first episode of the crime drama wot I wrote. Need a hook for the next ep. If anyone fancies a read of my work in progress; it'll be better than a sleeping pill.

Thanks Ben. I've started unpicking my script so it's not reader friendly at the mo. I'll holler when it's ready. Hope all's well :-)

  2. That sounds good. Like minestrone??? Maltesers
  3. Dating in the Dark. [Hangs head in shame]
  4. I watched Leatherheads last night. It was ok, but I thought George Clooney did a good job of directing.
  5. Let us know what you think Lucybird. I've had this book sat on my shelf for a while now but I'm busy finishing my library books first. Finished Maya-Alistair Campbell. On the whole I enjoyed it. It was a bit more chick-litty than I bargained for despite it being written from the male protagonists perspective. I don't know what I was expecting from the former spinmeister, but this wasn't it. If you're interested in the nature of celebrity then you'll probably enjoy it. It's a light read without being too fluffy. If I come across his other novel on my trip to the library, I'd definately give it a go. But it's not on my priority list. Next off the pile; Cold Heart--Lynda La Plante. Back to crime for me. Phew. No one has been bloodily despatched for over a month and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.
  6. I think they got it just right. Can't wait for next week's episode.
  7. Just watched Borat. I'd forgotten how hard it was to watch. Hysterically funny, but toe curling. Eeesh.
  8. I'm about 7 chapters into Maya-Alistair Campbell. I'm pleasantly surprised. So far, so good.
  9. I love Jackie Brown too. More subtle than Tarantino's other films. My Favourite line; 'When you absolutely, positively have to kill every m***** f***** in the room, accept no substitute.' Just watched Dogma. Apart from Singing in the Rain, I think its my fave feel good movie.
  10. I was going to make a bacon and mushroom pasta dish, and a veggie version for my son, but I've got a hankering for a takeaway curry. Will start making curry noises in front of OH see if he'll get his wallet out. I wont hold my breath.
  11. Finished The Witch of Portobello-- Paul Coelho. It was an interesting read and I'll probably read more of his novels off the back of this one. Nice to read a novel that has spiritual themes and offers alternative ways of thinking about the world. Thanks for the recommendation forum dwellers, once again you've played a blinder. Next off the pile; Maya--Alistair Campbell. It'll be interesting to see if the former king of spin can write something other than political wranglings.
  12. I bought a 70's compilation in the supermarket for £3. Just because I wanted Uptown Top Rankin by Althea and Donna.
  13. I didn't catch up with West Wing until it was all over. I loved it. Brilliant characterisation, intelligent, slick scripts. Funny and warm without being sentimental. What's not to love?? Any other recommendations PF?
  14. Finished Deja Dead-Kathy Reichs. It was entertaining enough that I'd read some more of her novels, but a bit samey. There wasn't really anything to distinguish it from the other hundreds of crime novels I've read. Next off the pile; The Witch of Portobello-Paul Coelho. I know he's a favourite of several forumites. So if its awful I hope you'll feel suitably ashamed and guiltridden.
