  1. Thanks for the input. I already make several types of chicken after much wrangling with the cheapskate owner, but now its started to sell (after I made free samples) he's not moaning. If I start talking about mozarella or brie it sets the vein in is head throbbing, but I'll keep at it. (Wait till I tell him about the pudding club--That might actually kill him )
  2. Yorkshire Gold Tea. I can't tell the difference but if its good enough for Madonna......
  3. Stuff the diet Ian. Joy is an impulse pasty A hob-nob flapjack
  4. Nice to see you back Rob. Got a great haul from the lovely library after work. I could have got 12 but limited it to 9 because they're all hard backs and my knees started to buckle. The council should have a delivery service. They could buy a pony or a donkey and everyone who uses it can pay towards its stables and upkeep. And they can use the poo on the flower beds. Perfect. And no shattered vertebrae from over eager readers. Ahem. I got; Stuart Macbride-Dark Blood (Yes!!! My very favourite author, I'm finally up to date. Gotta love Logan ) Tess Gerritsen-Keeping the Dead (I enjoyed the last Rizzoli and Isles book I read) Roddy Doyle-The Dead Republic ( Usually like his novels) Julian Clary-Devil in Disguise (What the Hell) Harlan Coben-Long Lost (New to me in the crime stakes) The Audacity of Hype-Armando Iannucci (Anyone who created Malcolm Tucker has to be worth a shot.) Tell-All-Chuck Palahniuk (As recommended by forum dwellers) Imperial Bedrooms- Bret Easton Ellis The Devil in Amber-Mark Gatiss (As recommended by Chesilbeach I enjoyed the Vesuvius Club too.) That should keep me out of trouble for a bit.
  5. Brilliant news. My best friend has gotten the all clear from her breast cancer tests. So the sun shines again in my bit of world.

  6. I saw a young ****head today using a mobile phone, who speeded into a disabled parking spot, and didn't even buy a ticket. There's never a traffic warden around when you want one.
  7. I manage a sandwich shop and I have been saying for a while that the menu needs an overhaul. I'm looking for ideas for panini and wrap fillings that I can try out on my spam reliant clientele. We have a varied range of customers; builders and bus drivers, office/admin staff, solicitors and a new medical centre has just opened up so we've started getting them too. If/when you buy lunch what do you have, what do you get, what would you prefer? Thanks for the help. This will go a long way to helping me get a decent pay rise. My boss has short arms and deep, deep pockets
  8. Lemon Drizzle cake. More yummy than I expected. Am now eyeing up a snickers flapjack. Am starvin'.
  9. Waking the Dead

  11. Thanks folks. Some things to mull over there I reckon.
  12. Need some recommendations on Audio CD as a pressie for my, very hard to please but, lovely Mum. She likes audio and uses them to fall asleep to at night and because without her lenses her eyesight isn't great. She likes classics/philosophy, she likes things like Mapp and Lucia. But she's very well read in classical terms, so I wouldn't choose something too obvious, Bronte or Austen or Shakespeare. The last thing she bought on CD was Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency, which she loves. So, no smut, nothing too sweary, no blood/guts, no sex. Basically my polar opposite as far as literature is concerned. Help!!!!
  13. I bought my friends kids Roald Dahl's The Twits/George's Marvellous Medicine/ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on CD by way of introduction. They loved them. My son had all the Roald Dahl's on tape and listened to them at bedtime. For older kids what about Terry Pratchett's Discworld??
  14. About half way through Cold Heart and I was getting a bit bored until I had an 'uh-oh--there's trouble afoot' moment. Hope to finish it tomorrow as I want to see if I was right about how the story unfolds, or if I've read too much into it. Going to the library on Monday. No one gets why I get a frisson of excitement about going to the library. Who knows what treasures I'll discover? I try to choose at least one book by an author I've never read before, one from off the wishlist, one recommendation from someone else, a classic and a non fiction book and a CD. I'm lucky that my local library is quite popular and well stocked, I get the feeling that the smaller libraries will closed because of the cuts.
  15. Watched the first episode last week and really loved it. I've seen John Bishop live several times and he's a naturally funny bloke. If you're short on giggles on Saturday night, or you've passed your Gilmore Girls limit, I'd highly recommend him. Oops- BBC 1 at 9.50
  16. Where Do Broken Hearts Go?-Whitney Houston
  17. I like vanilla to accompany other sweet things, and I love most ice-cream flavours. But I can't choose between choc and hazelnut or run and raison. Now want ice cream!
  18. The Thick of It. Series 3
  19. Your fairy is called Bramble Goblinglitter. She is a bringer of riches and wealth. She lives in leafy dells and bluebell glades. She is only seen in the light of a shooting star. She wears bluebell-blue dresses. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
  20. Love that album. If you get the chance to listen to Red Roses for Me, its just as good.
