  1. A carton of milk and some carrots.
  2. In my defence that was 22 years before my birth, making my mother all of 7 years old. Course, never having tapped into my prior incarnations I cannot say for sure it wasn't me in another life...
  3. You're a bad influence, ya know. I love grassy knoll reading! Will I get chased by a beefeater? If so that might be kinda worth it...
  4. Oh I definitely plan to take reading with me on the plane, but if I end up in a particularly good book and don't finish it before arriving at my destination then I'll read it on the trip itself until finished. I can just see it now, me sitting outside the Tower of London reading instead of exploring. Thats just how my mind works. Once a good book gets in it HAS to be finished before life can resume. Thanks Kylie! I'm really excited too!
  5. You could also try placing your finger between your nostrils and pressing lightly on the cartilage there. That always stops them for me. Also, if you WANT to sneeze when you feel it coming on look into the brightest light you can find and don't blink. The sun is the best but if you're inside look at the brightest lightbulb you can find.
  6. I think I'm going to take that one with me on the plane to London. Its going to be a 25 hour trip with airport waiting time so plenty of reading will ensue! . Sorry for not commenting, but I've been stalking your book thread and blog lately. We have a lot of the same taste in books I can't wait to pull a few more from your list to test out, though I have to say I hated Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. It felt so rushed to me. The story had potential, but the book just felt like what was there was some kind of Cliff's notes condenced version of a bigger story, IMO. No idea why I just put that here
  7. I have already started making my packing list for my trip to London next month but can't decide how many books to bring. The flight will be very long but I don't want to be tempted to read during the trip itself, so if I get into a really good book on the way there it might be torture to wait a week before being able to continue on reading *sigh* Dilemma, dilemma. So my options are basically, risk it and bring books from Mount TBR or just bring a few I've already read before. Hm.... This will take some pro/con listing.
  8. Thanks Kylie Have to love days when you make it out of a store with a bag of books like that. I started reading the Japenese Death Poems last night and all I have to say is 'wow'. They are so intense and in so few words are able to evoke emotion that some writers can never tap in their 800 page monsters. The one that stood out to me the most was: Inhale, exhale Forward, back Living, dying; Arrows, let flown each to each Meet midway and slice The void in aimless flight- Thus I return to the sorce. Yeah, I know, its a bit morbid that I'm reading death poetry... but the emotion in these words is so alive. I can't help but find it a bit ironic that so many of these poems have made me feel alive just by reading them.
  9. Left over mac and cheese with tuna.
  10. I picked up a few books tonight while hanging out at Barnes and Noble. Most were on the clearance table so I only paid a total of $50.00 for all 9 of them The ones being added to Mount TBR are: A Lion Among Men by Gregory Maguire Selected Poems by William Blake Irish Fairy Tales by James Stephenson Japanese Death Poems from Zen Monks and Haiku Poets on the Verge of Death The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich Secrets of Mary Magdalene the Untold Story of History's Most Misunderstood Woman by Dan Burstein and Arne J De Keijzer Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and Aristotle and an Aardvark Go to Washington by Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein I'm particularly excited to get into the Japanese Death Poems and The Forest of Hands.
  11. I was a bit naughty tonight and picked up total of 9 books from Barnes and Noble. Considering I was only there for coffee that is quite an accomplishment! I got: A Lion Among Men by Gregory Maguire Selected Poems by William Blake Irish Fairy Tales by James Stephenson Japanese Death Poems from Zen Monks and Haiku Poets on the Verge of Death The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich Secrets of Mary Magdalene the Untold Story of History's Most Misunderstood Woman by Dan Burstein and Arne J De Keijzer Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and Aristotle and an Aardvark Go to Washington by Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein Before bed I plan to dig into the Japanese Death poems.
