Hello and welcome to BCF!

I've been freezing all day so tonight when I get home there will be a nice bowl of chicken noodle soup in store to help warm me up.

Your Book Activity Today - Thread 10
AbielleRose replied to Janet's topic in General Book Discussions
I read a book on the importance of being an optimist at work today. Ironically it put me in a pessimistic mood. -
Its unfortunate, but journalism is no longer an art, its a career or even a game to most of those in the profession. Even the bigger outlets like CNN and The New York Times are so riddled with opinions rather than facts that its become impossible to actually believe a 'breaking story' when it first comes on. They are willing to print/air stories that are sure to sell copies/gain viewers before confirming facts or focusing on making the story appeal to all possible views, regardless of the issue and how right/wrong one side may be. Retractions in news papers for stories with untrue information makes me want to ball it up and throw it in the garbage right along with gossip rags and the Enquirer.

Aw, hunni. Sorry you're struggling so much today. Think of it as a competition, a challenge of sorts. Don't allow the evil junk food to win. You'll beat those little :censored:ards. I don't know if it will help you, but a couple of weeks ago when I started having to visit my doctor for a few issues it hit me. I'm going to be 25 years old in a little more than a month. Sure, immediately that number sounds young, but this is the turning point in life where the choices we make today start to become reality. The pounds don't come off as easily and the joints start feeling that extra weight. Of course, we are all different... this is just merely my personal mentality right now, but the last 10 years have gone by so quickly, the next 10 will go by even faster. I don't want to be 35 and wishing I would have done more 'back then' to condition my body and do what I could to eat better and lose the weight (I'll never be a tiny little thing with a flat belly and muscular arms, but that's fine with me). Sorry for the rant. The last 3 weeks my health/weight has been on the forefront of my mind constantly.

Some Gatorade for now. I'm debating whether or not to have a hard boiled egg white or not.

Yay! Its pretty good so far. I think you'll enjoy this one. Read some more Wicked last night before falling asleep. Hopefully do some more reading on my breaks at work. -
Breakfast at Tiffany's

Sorry... darn American English... I read that and my first thought was 'What the heck are you doing eating dog food?'

Ooh! I can't wait to read your review (though I want to read it myself beforehand ). Should be coming in the mail either today or tomorrow. P.C. Cast is an amazing fantasy writer. Have you ever read any of her other work? Juding from that I'm sure the series as a completed whole will not disappoint. I don't know if I would read a series about the red fledgelings, to be honest. I've never been a huge fan of any of them to the point where I would miss them in the storyline (well, except for Stevie Rae, of course.)

Yay! Wicked is great so far, I think you'll enjoy it I'm anxious to learn a little more about Q & A. I've seen the thread but haven't been to stalk it yet. Might have to do that sometime today.

I whole heartedly approve!!! I am a little ways into Wicked and still enjoying it. Got about 20 minutes in last night before face planting in the book and waking up with my nose in the crease. Hopefully I'll be able to read more today before zonking out. -
Sometimes it really does help if you aren't enjoying a book to put it aside and come back to it at a later time (or not at all if its one you just do not have the desire to know how it ends.) Its too bad you were struggling with that one, Kate. Do you have anything in mind you would like to read next?

I'm excited to hear your thoughts when you've read them. They are so different from anything else on the market, very unique for a YA series. You should make one. Its pretty cool to be able to just pull up the list and see all the books you've read and want to read. I don't know about you but sometimes I forget if I've read a certian book or just really wanted to. It almost seems like writing a bad review is much easier than writing a good one. I only have issues with writing a review if I actually enjoyed the book. IDK...weird... Hopefully its one of those things that can be learned.

Yes, you absolutely positively NEED to add these to your list and start reading them ASAP! I'll be checking in with you to make sure you've followed my orders reccommendation. Sure It really isn't much, but its nice to be able to pull something up. I like Goodreads but to be honest, nothing beats a good old fashioned alphabetical list. I have it set up like this: Title / Author / Year published / Part of a series (y/n) / Owned (y/n) / My overall rating. Then I have the books all listed alphabetically (I just insert a new cell when I need to add a new book, its very easy) and color coordinated according to if I've read them or if they are on my wish list. Green means I've read it, red means I haven't. Once I read the book I just go in and fill in all the empty fields and change the color. I really should seperate it into 2 lists, one for read and one for my TBR specificially, but I hate having to go in and delete the cells and all that stuff so I just let it run and call it a TBR list anyway. Something I've been trying to work on a bit more recently is my reviewing of books. I'm terrible at it, not because I don't want to discuss them, but because I just can't seem to put into words how they make me feel. So many touch my soul and it almost feels like I'm 'kissing and tellling' if that makes any sense. Once I get my list over to this computer I plan to add a new section for whether I've reviewed the book or not so that I can start working on reviews and try to improve on that little area of bookworminess.

I've heard of korma before, maybe I'll try that. Sounds pretty good Never heard of naan bread though.
