  1. Finished The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and started and only have 150 pages of Breaking dawn to go, and I am relly enjoying it, I am finding it hard to put down. As for the lost sybol, I suppose all I can say is De ja vu. I will at some point write a review.
  2. Happy Birthday!

  3. Another Slaughter fan... Fantastic. Glad to hear you like the series. She is one of my favourite authors, and as many people know on this forum I tend to go on about her... a little Happy reading times ahead! CW.
  4. Thanks for the recommendation and advice, as soon as I get back to the Uk, I will go to the library and see what they have.

    CW.

  5. No I haven't I will be reading them at some point, even though I am not sure if I will like them as much as this series. I got them because it was a different apprach to the Crime Genre. He is fantastic! A totally original author I feel.
  6. Read 100 pages of the The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. It is Ok so far, no totally gripping me yet. Hopefully it will pick up. I am going to a coffeee shop later, so hoppefully I will get the chance to have a big reading session. I have not had the chance to read too much while over here.
  7. I have the first four books to read, and are infact in my suitcase so if I have time I might start the first one soon. I did however watch the first episode as it was an option while was on the plane adn I thought it was Ok. Not sure if I am going to be a fan, but I think it could be something I ould watch.
  8. Book #7: The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde The Gingerbreadman: Psychopath, sadist, genius, convicted murderer and biscuit is loose in the streets of Reading. It isn't Jack Spratt's case. He and Mary Mary have been reassigned due to falling levels of nursery crime, and The NCD is once more in jeopardy. That is, until a chance encounter during the Armitage Shanks literary awards at the oddly familiar Deja-Vu Club lead Jack and Mary on the hunt for missing journalist Henrietta 'Goldilocks' Hatchett, star reporter for The Daily Toad. She had been about to break a story involving unexplained explosions in Herefordshire, Pasadena and the Nullabor Plain; The last witnesses to see her alive were The Three Bears, comfortably living out a life of rural solitude in Andersen's wood. But all is not what it seems. How could the bear's porridge be at such disparate temperatures when they were poured at the same time? Was Goldy's death in the nearby 1st World War themepark of Sommeworld a freak accident? And is it merely chance that the Gingerbreadman pops up at awkward moments? But there's more. What does a missing scientist with a terrifying discovery in subatomic physics, a secret weapon of devastating power, a reclusive industrialist known only as the Quangle Wangle and Colonel Danvers of the National Security all have in common? Quite simply FANTASTIC! As the last book in the NCD series, it is funny, witty and quite often laugh out loud hillarious. Easy to read with some fantastic characters and some even more fantastic plots. This book is to be read if you want something different. 10/10
  9. I thought the same, and for the first 250+ pages I was thinking God this is so bad, but a lot of people said it picks up and all thedetailing is needed. Get past that point and I am sure you will love it. I nearly bought this in boarders in Saturday, as I left my book behind when me and the OH went away, but decided on Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber not sure if I made the right choice, read a 100 pages and it isOk so far. As for me, only 30 pages left of The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde, I would have finished by now but i left t behind when I went on my 'Early Valentines Get away' with my OH, so like I said above I needed to grab another book in boarders to keep me company when he went with his friends to by me a valentines resent. Not sure what to read after I finish It. Do I carry on reading Vampire kisses or do I start something else? For soe reason I have this urge to read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.
  10. Book #6: Betrayed (House of Night Bk 2) - P.C & Kirstin Cast It seems that (un)life is going pretty well for Zoey Redbird. She's settled in at the House of Night finishing school and is coming to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her. She even has a boyfriend...or two. Best of all, Zoey finally feels she has found somewhere she belongs. Then the unthinkable happens.Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the vampires at Zoey's school. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's past life, she begins to realise that the very powers that made her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night. Zoey finds herself facing a betrayal that could break her heart and jeopardise the very fabric of her world. Not suitable for younger readers. I read this book after leaving The Girl who Kicked the Hornets' Nest for my up coming flight. My mojo as a result was floundering by the second and I needed something that was quick and not to in depth. This I hoped would do the job. This is the second book in the series, and as expected it was Ok. It did take me a little longer to read and I was a little bored half way through. The ending was pretty good though and like the first I will at some point read the third. The language used did not annoy me quite so much as the last, and was not a huge annoyance of the book unlike the first. This is however not a book for young readers, yet not adult enough for it to be an adult book, I still felt that you could tell that it had the imput of two writers. I did find the plot of All in all it is Ok, and with most series that I start to read I tend to want to finish them off. I won't be in a major, OhmygodIneedtoreaditnow panic to read the next one, even though at some point I will 6/10
  11. Hahaha, well I will be hopefully on line while my OH is at work and I am not at confrences and stuff so I can feel you in when in the states. It willl be when I am home I won't be online much as he is coming back with me for the week.

sorry to hear you have not been well. my mother suffers terribly from sinus problems, so I can kind of imagine what you are going through. I hope it gets better soon.

But on a good note, the copy I reserved of Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde is available at my library so I now know what my reading is going to be on the plane!! I used to love Federer, but that interview was just well. It was a roll your eyes moment. Not looking great though for us Murray fans! ****Edit*** Gutted! Roll on Wimbledon! Get another Federer Murry final and let here the crowds roar then!!!!!
  19. If you can't find your copy, go to my local charity shop they had over 10 copies there today!
  20. I'm glad you are liking it here.

But, I warn you. Either your LIbrary card or your Credit card will get floppy, because you will be constantly finding new books that you must read!

  21. Well I am sure you will love the second. Charm said to give the second a go even though I did not like the first, and I found it very difficult to put down. It was such a good read and I could not turn the pages quick enough.
  22. I did not like the characters apart from Jeremy. I didn't care for what happened to any of them to be honest. I could see why people loved it so much. I have however read Stolen and I totally loved it. I warmed to all the characters and I will at some point read the third. Looking back on it maybe I was just not in the right frame of mind for that book at the time. I don't know. But it has been a book where, even though it had all the hype and seemed a book I would love, it just didn't seem to WOW me. If that makes sense.
  23. Just wanted to say welcome to the forum.

Noticed a couple of your posts, so I just thought I would say hello!!!

Hope you are enjoying it here and I see you around in the future.

    CW.

  24. I was actually the opposite. I liked the Da Vinci Code, and read it in a day on the plane. I spotted it in America and it was the new cool thing. As for Angels and Demons, It was Ok. Maybe I did not like the subject matter as much. As for The Lost Symbol. I am taking it with me on Thursday so I hope that it is good. I want to read it more for being able to have an opinion on it, rather than wanting to read the book.
