  1. Last night I finished Last Light by Alex Scarrow. Such a brilliant, thought-provoking read if you are a fan of end-of-the-world-scenario type books (which I am). The sequel, After Light, is at our local library, so once they are back open I'll be heading straight there to pick it up.

I never knew there was a sequel. Fantastic!!

I got a Kindle for Xmas. Totally shocked and super stoked!!!! I have wanted one for a while so I actually screamed when I opened it. I also got some tree books. My bro got me a book called The Guide to Middle Earth. It looks fab. He also got me A clash of Kings. As I only actually owned the first book of the series as I got the rest from the library. Stephanie got me loads of things including a new copy of Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh ( I lent my copy out and never got it back I was really upset) and Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis. American Psycho is one of my favourite books ever. So I am looking forward to reading this.

as for reading I have only read 50 pages of Next and bits and pieces of free E-books on my Kindle as we speak I am looking to get The Order of the Pheonix for my Kindle and will be my first E-book read :D. I hope once things settle down I can really chill and read.

  2. Nearly finished Digital Fortress. I don't have too much to say about it. Hope to finish real soon so I can start on Next by Crichton

while I was doing housework myself and my oldest were listening to Skullduggery Plesant. I have read the book before but my son has not. It was the first Audio book that I actually loved listening too and kept up with. Fantastic. We vowed to listen to more later :D

  3. Read some more of A Clash of Kings, love it so much! I'm undecided whether to go to sleep now or just read a bit more.

I hope you read a bit more :giggle2:

As for me I did finish The Bible code 2.

Still reading Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. Hope to finish that soon.

Went round to see a friend and exchange presents while our kids played and we also talk book recommendations. She lent me the book Next by Michael Crichton. I must confess I have only read one and the most obvious of books (Jurrassic Park) but it looks right up my street I actually can not wait to read it!!! :readingtwo:

Also started the audio book of the Girl with the dragon Tattoo. I do float while listening I admire people who can keep up! I can't do two things at once. I have to keep rewinding. Glad this is just a catch up.

  4. I got The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson in the post today.

HOW EXCITING!!!!! One of my favourite books. I loved it so much. I have waited to read book three as I don't want it to end.

As for me only a couple chapters read at lunch. More will be read tonight. After Christmas wrapping. :grinhat:

But my lovely bro who had found out that no-one was buying me books called to ask what I wanted, and two write a list. *Gets excited* I'm so excited I've gone blank! Eeeep I don't know what to put on my list!

  5. Hello and welcome.

I had a quick skim through and all the recommnedations are fantastic and it is hard to think of many other authors. I didn't see Jack Kerely on the thread. He's work a shot with some good characters.

  6. I can't believe that I haven't seen this thread for all the times I have been on this forum!

I used to read Graphic novels and comics all the time. I stopped when money was a bit tough and I could get second hand real cheap books but not GP or comics. My oldest son loves them and gets a bundle every month.

It one of the things I wanna start getting back into. I used to love reading them when my mojo was a little slow especially.

  7. @ Jessi - Thats awesome that you liked it in the end. My memory is not what it used to be would have given up because I would have forgot the plot and would have had to re-read it. Haha.

As for me. I unfortunately have a few books on the go at the moment.

One is the Soul Protector by Amanda Leigh Cowley which like I said in a previous post is an E-book that I read on my iPod Touch. I generally read this when on a break or waiting to pick the kids up and now that I am doing neither because of the Xmas holidays it's kind of been put on the back burner even though it is a book I have been asked to review... Whoops. It is however starting to get quite good. It's about a woman who seems to be able to shift into other people's bodies. She then finds out that she is not alone and that there other people who can do the same thing, they call themselves Soul Protectors. Looks like there will be some romance and some action... I hope.

My second book is a Non fiction book.Called The Bible Code 2 by Michael Drosnin. I am a bit of a conspiracy fan, whether I believe in the conspiracy or not. I just fin it fascinating. This book is hwat it says onthe cover. A jounralist was brought to attention to a hidden code in the Bible. In the first book (Which I read a few years ago) you read about how he found out about the code, trying to unlock the code to it's full potential and the consequences if we don't full unlock it's secrets. In Book two it starts with him waking up on 9/11. He then goes on to state that he goes to his computer to see if the code had predicted the event. It does. Through the book it goes back to previous events to show how the author travels the world to warn political leaders about the upcoming End Of days. I'm around half way through, after reading another 50 pages last night. I find it a easy book to read.

My final present reads is of course the Dan Brown's Digital fortress. I am still finding this a plesant read. Like previously said the short chapters are great forme right now, and it seems to be keeping my attention. I'm glad this isn't a Langdon book as I think I would have stopped reading by now.

It's fiunny isn't it when your mojo is high you seem to be so much happier? Reading, looking at my bookshelf anticipating my next read and being able to come on to a forum like this and posting my progress has really made me happy. Thank you to all of you.

  8. 200 pages into American psycho and really enjoying it,very very well written and quite horrific in parts.....

I adore this book and is one of my favourite books of all time. I feel every emotion, and I remember still finding it hard to stop thinking about it for weeks after. It's a definate re-read for me soon.

As for me. I read more of Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. It's going Ok. Becuase of the short chapters I'm able to sneak a quickie in while having a coffee, perfect for a Mummy during Christmas Week.

I also have an EBook that I am reading on my iPod Touch. I do struggle to read on such a small screen but the book is starting to be quite good. It's called Soul Protector (I can't remember the authors name at the moment.
