  1. I read Life Of Pi at around the same time as The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime. I swore blind on some occasions that I was reading The Curious Incident Of The Life Of Pi In The Dog's Time.

    Kala me

Thought I'd officially say Hi. Hi!

It is indeed, it is indeed. I'm a walking nutcase. Quite lucky to live here, really.

  4. Are they? I'd be interested to find out about that. I read Life Of Pi at quite an interesting point in my life. I believe it affects people in different ways depending on where one is in ones life, don't you think? The Princess Bride has something for everyone though, eh? My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. Classic.

You do make me chuckle, fella. I guess Navya must indeed be really looking forward to Angels & Demons. I only got as far as Wizard & Glass with The Dark Tower series. Worth pursuing? I really loved the first three, but got, like, well bored during the fourth and thought 'Life's too short' and put it back on me shelf. Do I have another go, or what? Cheers, mate.

  6. Hey there. I loved The Princess Bride. The film was made around where I live! How about that!
  7. I teach privately. I'm just off to teach now, actually. Shame. Could have chatted with you. Have a good morning.:D

Hello. I just read your reply to Chrissy about your avatar. It made me laugh out loud. My problem is that for me to look good, you have to squint really hard.

  9. The Hard Way by Lee Child I'm not going to quote the synopsis, because the blurb always put me off these books, and I wish they hadn't. I'm not a macho kind of guy. I don't like 'Laddishness'. I don't like fighting. I don't have any sporting competitiveness in my being at all. So the blurb on the back of these books were always going to put me off. I read Killing Floor, the first of Lee Child's novels, purely because someone had left it on a seat in the departure area at Manchester Airport and I picked it up. I was immediately hooked. I like to alternate my reading through 'thrash-through-them' thrillers to the more...worthy, if you like. You know, Man Booker Prize winners, historical fiction, that sort of thing. There is definitely an art to creating a thumping good page-turner of a thriller where you can't put them down. The Hard Way is one of these. Yes, there are clich
  10. Not a fan, then. Your review has made me chuckle (in a good way), and I like the tag about Reading. I played in a place called The Purple Turtle there some years ago (actually, maybe...oh my God, maybe 16 years ago!). I would concur with your observation, my friend. Have a good day.
  11. 76%. And, by the beard of Zeus, it is good!
  12. I agree with you. I actually read this one first, before Tom Hanks' Hair...sorry, I mean The Da Vinci Code came out. Don't get me wrong, though. I'm not a snob on this matter. I really, really couldn't put The Da Vinci Code down. Voracious, I was.
  13. How dare the Premier ignore my invitations? He'll have to go! So, too, the bunch he luncheons with - it's second on my list of things to do. At the top is stopping by your place of work and acting like I haven't dreamed of you and I, and marriage in an orange grove. You are the only thing in any room you're ever in. I'm stubborn, selfish and too old. I sat you down and told you how the truest love that's ever found is for oneself. You pulled apart my theory with a weary and disinterested sigh. So, yes, I guess I'm asking you to back a horse that's good for glue and nothing else, but find a man that's truer than, find a man that needs you more than I. Sit with me a while and let me listen to you talk about your dreams and your obsessions. I'll be quiet and confessional. The violets explode inside me when I meet your eyes and I'm spinning and I'm diving like a cloud of starlings... Darling, is this love? Starlings by Elbow Guy Garvey is, in my opinion (obviously - dur, Mac!), one of the greatest lyrical poets of contemporary music.
  14. I loved this book. Even now, I still talk about it with my friends 4 years after I read it! Well worth persevering with if you've struggled in the past.
  15. Mamfa. Good welcome, and enjoy. It's good here.
  16. Hi there! What did you think of it? It's brilliant, don't you think? I'm so looking forward to the 3rd book. Hope you're okay.

  17. I have my own band, which plays my stuff. I've been writing songs since I was 15 years old - it was with my first band that I got to play down the west coast of your country. Back then I was the drummer, but I play the piano, bass, sax and guitar as well (in fact, I teach the drums, bass and guitar). In this band, I'm guitar and lead vocal. The genre is hard to place, but I'd say it's like melody focussed rock with McCartney/Neil Finn influenced melodies and Red Hot Chili's, Led Zep, Radiohead music influences. I guess a band you could equate us with would be Elbow, to a certain degree.

So, it's four in the morning where you are, right now - so have a great day!

    'Bye for now.

  18. By the way, I have 'pm'd you again. Have a good...erm...day? I'm going to have to think of another thing to write to wish you happy times and niceness, aren't I? Pip pip.

Aww, shucks! Thanks for the lovely post. I'm a dreadful chap in real life...*shrugs shyly*

  20. Man-Flu with a vengence, lady! It's gone into my inner ear and I'm all over the place! You should see it when I fall right on my harris - oh, such mirth.

I'm currently banging through The Hard Way by Lee Child. Sit back, switch off the brain and enjoy! I love it. I like to go, one to think about, one to not think about. One to think about, one not to think about. One to...I guess you get the idea.

    I hope you're well, chum.

    Ta ta.

  21. I've just demolished an entire 100g block of Sainsbury's own Dark Chocolate with chilli. My heart might now be banging like the clappers but, by gum, it's worth it!
  22. Thanks for this review, Lucybird. On the strength of this, I think I'll get the book. I'm one of these guys that, once everybody is telling me to go and see something, I dig my heals in and scream 'Nooooooooooooooooooo!', but I'll make a concession and read the book...he heh he
  23. I thought this was one of the best books I've ever read. Do give it another go. Good luck! Jack Reacher ordered espresso, double, no peel, no cube, foam cup, no china, and before it arrived at his table he saw a man's life change forever. The Hard Way by Lee Child
  24. Yes indeed, do. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy it
