  1. I loved the film of Perfume as well. I thought Ben Whishaw was perfect for the role. Interestingly enough, I do sound a little like Guy Garvey. My songs and his seem very similar, which is why I probably like them. When I first heard of them in 2001, I thought 'Bloody hell, that sounds like me!' I had 13 songs published in 1999 which were bandied around several artists and they remain in their portfolios to this very day. So one never knows one's luck, I might one day be 'quids in', so to speak.

How're things over the pond, lady? How're you? *waves frantically with a comic touch*

  2. Evening. You, out of everybody, will love Patrick Suskind's Perfume. Go for it. You shall not be disappointed. Hope you're very well, lady!

  3. Maggie. You're going to love it here. It's quite addictive, mind, so be warned! Everyone is really lovely, which makes it even more likely that you'll be sucked in and unable to leave without a stay in The Priory.
  4. It's another one of my very favourites, Chrysalis. I think you'll love it. It evokes strong sensory images. Suskind is very clearly a very talented author. Again, the writing is a little detached, a little chilly, if you know what I'm trying to get at. I very strongly recommend this book to you.
  5. I think the character Jeremy in Jack Kerley's novels is marvellous. The books are well worth checking out.
  6. Good morning, my friend. I hope this finds you very well. *waves like a loony*

  7. Have a lovely, quiet one then. They say that cleanliness is next to godliness, although I'm pretty sure that cleanliness is next to cleanse in the OED...

  8. I concur with your assessment here, Loo. Nausea, eh? It makes me sick...
  9. I'm toddling off down South at around 10am to check out some prospective placements for a chap I advocate for. A busy couple of days ahead. How about yourself? 'Owt good going on? :D

  10. Morning, lady! I hope this finds you well and enjoying any Easter Break that has been granted unto you. How're the Shakespearean studies going? I love the fella and have done so since my rather eccentric Eng. Lit. teacher transferred his passion onto me (not in a freakish, man-love, 'oh my God, that's like, so weird' way, just with his enthusiasm - phew, glad we got that cleared up...).

I'm beginning a degree in October on Philosophy and Classical Studies, which will be exciting. Thought you might not be too disinterested with this information, but you never know...

    Have a great day. :D

  11. Morning again, Lexie! :D

Hi Paula. I've not read that one, so I'm off to purchase it today! I'm out and about down South over the next couple of days in Suffolk and Essex, so I'll drop into a shop and pick a copy up. I love the guy. I notice that we'd have been in the same school year. What did you make of it? I hated it until my GCSE year, then it got much better in sixth form. There you are. Some useless info on me. Hope you're well! :friends0:

  13. Hmmm, these are some books I've not had a look at. Maybe I should. Do you think that the character 'Angel' is loosely based on this fella, then? He valued human life and was a bit of a loner. Cool programme. Hope you're okay.
  14. I am, as you say, reading The Piano Tuner and I'm loving it. Quite idiosyncratic in it's style, which I enjoy. I hope you have a good day! :D

  15. I'm tip-top and raring to go, many thanks. I hope you have a splendid one as well. My computer is being a bit naughty this morning.

  16. Morning, Lexie! Thought I'd just say hi before I went to work. Hope you're okay! *waves frantically*

  17. Weirdness! I feel nauseous even thinking about reading in the car, but just like Loo, I can read a map! I often get a 'white-out' if I even look down to move something around whilst in a car (not while I'm driving, though - now that would be a 'safe & sound' issue!) So. There's my tuppence worth. On that note...

    Oh, yeah, and one more...mmmm...Alba...

    Just for luck, you know?

  19. Mac

Have a good week, then, Ben. Enjoy yourself. Cheers, fella!

  20. Thank you for your friendship, Michelle. I was ever so concerned that I'd permanently annoyed you with my idiocy! I hope you have a lovely bank holiday. :D

  21. I find it difficult interacting with people that argue for the sake of it. My uncle is one of these chaps. I can't stand it, because he'll play Devil's Advocate even if he agrees with the other person. I cope with him now by saying, 'You know, you're absolutely right. I hadn't thought of that. You can p**s off now.' I don't actually say that last sentence. That was a fib. I think this stems from my complete lack of competitiveness. I cannot stand arguing. I love sensible, clear, rational discussion, but can't bear confrontation. I'm such a softy.
  22. I believe it must be the first statement that is inaccurate...
  23. Hey Kate. How's your weekend been? Everything tip-top? I've watched the entire series of Flight Of The Conchords. Have you heard about it? Magic stuff. Oooh, but I could wax lyrical about it all day...

    Hope you're tickety-boo, lady!

    :D

  24. Now, you see, this is excellent news (I'm assuming you're talking about Kostova and not Tartt). Thanks, Chesilbeach!
  25. Kudos, Miss Whitlock! I thought I was suffering from narcolepsy when I attempted it!
