  1. Ben. Who, in the name of Zeus, is that total hottie in your avatar???
  2. Welcome Wendy-woo. You'll enjoy the fabness of the forum, I'm sure.
  3. I actually really enjoyed the third novel, but agree that it was 'out there'. However, I enjoy quite a lot of stuff referring to the occult and have very much enjoyed Christopher Fowler's novels and short stories, so am well prepared for the odd turns Mr Lindsay might throw at us from time to time. As for the Drag Queen - alas, I've only really worn a dress on four occasions. Once, as a Panto Dame, once with a bunch of my older scouts when we went to Laser Quest, who insisted I joined them in feminine attire and twice on two separate stag do's. I use this forum to let my inhibitions fly!
  4. I think I read somewhere that there were three novels connected (as were the first two) and that the third was due out soon. Of course, being a total doughnut without the wit one would grant a woodlouse, I could be entirely wrong. I might even have dreamt it. I can't remember. If the information I have let fly upon these boards is wildly apocryphal, then my apologies. My only excuse is that my mind has gone. Many years since.
  5. I was beginning to wonder.... Hope you're lovely and well, mate.

Ah, but Ben. I ripped through all of them - he knows how to make you turn a page! If you enjoyed it more than his others, then I shall buy a paperback copy this very week. Hope all goes well for the start of your final year, mate.

  7. Fantastic stuff. Loved it. Am I correct in thinking there's another one coming out soon?
  8. Also, Michael Marshall with The Straw Men first, Jack Kerley with The Hundredth Man first, there's Henning Mankell's Wallander series and Peter Robinson's Inspector Banks novels. These are all really good, too.
  9. Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a cracking good day! :-)

  10. Frankie, I love the Dexter books too. I've got the fifth one to read, ready on Mount TBR. The first four are brilliant! I think I've put them all on my Mac Reads thread... ...yep, they're there!
  11. Why are DVD extra features almost always accompanied by non-stop music in the background, even when actors, designers, researchers and writers are being interviewed? Does anyone else find this incredibly distracting and irritating? It's like the constant music in the background of the links between kid's programmes and some of the lower-brow news programmes. It makes it all almost unwatchable! Gah! Rant over. Thoughts, please.
  12. You're like the Scarlet Pimpernell! xx

  13. I wasn't amazingly keen on Dracula, as it happens. But I have really enjoyed both The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and Vladd by C C Humphreys. The first is a well researched story which leans towards the myth of Dracula the vampire, whereas the latter is about the 15th Century count from Wallachia Vladd Tepes whom, through his actions, became the legend upon whom Dracula is based. Both truly excellent books. Just ask Noll.
  14. Hello there. I hope The Interpretation of Murder has encouraged your 'mojo' to return! Have a good Sunday.

  15. I read this shortly before joining the BCF (I think) and really enjoyed it. I liked the way it was written during a period of Freud's life which hasn't been documented and gives a suggestion as to why he never returned to the States. A really good read! I'm glad you liked it.
  16. Man alive! They're brilliant and you'll love them! P.S. Have some of these - there's too many for me...
  17. It's over 38Km long! That's enormous!

  18. Take your mama out...
  19. Mac

So, having read his other novels, would I enjoy this one, or would I just go "Yawn, read it all before!" like I did with a couple of the others? Tell me. I'll go with your judgement. :)

  20. OMG I want to get this book, too. Dammit! Stop making me spend so much money!
  21. Mac

And you're more than welcome. I really appreciate your visits. x

  22. It has to be said that Mr Cornell is a pretty cool dude. Soundgarden, Audioslave etc. the man's brilliant! Oh, yeah, and I'm now listening to Chopin. He's all right, too.
  23. Mac
