England batted really well last night. At least we got a few late wickets. We will be doing well to keep them under 450.
  5. I've seen the first 5 episodes of it. It seemed to stick really close to the book which was good.
  6. Haha, I think you misunderstood me. I mean a new team to support.
  7. Haha, for sure. It is coming round again isn't it? I'm going to have to pick my new EPL team now, I'm really struggling.
  8. Yeah I think its a good signing. Barring injury he has always produced goals and it is low-cost so the risk is very low. Even if he fails badly they don't lose much out of it. I think he will probably do pretty well.
  9. Haha, wow, I had no idea I had read that many. Crazy. What you think about Man U signing Micky Owen Ben?
  10. Could not live without my booklight.
  11. Finished 'The Secret Countess' by Eva Ibbotson last night. Started 'THe Host' by Stephenie Meyer.

I'm not writing you guys off completely but I just think your bowlers are nowhere near good enough. In 2005 you had Hoggard, Flintoff, Harmison and Simon Jones all in great form and swinging the ball ridiculously. I don't think the likes of Broad, Anderson, Penasar, Swan and an out of form Freddie are going to get it done to be honest. Also in the first test of the 2005 series you guys gave our batsmen a heap of trouble, even though we won the writing was kind of on the wall. In this test it took you guys 19 wickets to score as many runs as we did with 6 wickets. We could probably have got between 800 and 900 if we had kept batting. Not saying you guys are out of it. England are always pretty tough at home, but Australia would have to be massive favourites at this point.

I can't believe we couldn't finish it off!!! Still, well done to the poms I guess, particularly the tail, they did a great job holding on there. I like the Aussies chances for the rest of the series though.
  14. Congratulations on the graduation!

Yep, we are on top in this one now. Hopefully we can get a lead of 200 odd and give your lot some trouble in the second innings.

  20. So I finally finished 'The Crimson Petal and the White' the other day. All up it took me around 3 weeks, which is far and away my longest read of the year. Not only was is over 800 pages but the margins were slim, writing small and content quite dense, so it certainly was a long read. Overall I would say I enjoyed it. I rated it an 8/10, so I wasn't completely in love with it but still a very interesting and engrossing read. The thing that most stood out for me in this book was the strange feelings I had towards most of the characters. In the case of all but one of them I was confused as to my actual feelings towards the characters. It was really odd. I guess this was a show of skill by the author, because it certainly kept me pretty intrigued throughout. I liked the writing style overall, and have added a couple more Michel Faber books to my wishlist. Next up for me is 'Come Again' by Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees - a very light book.
  21. It is 835 I think. But the text is very small and the margins barely exist. For comparison I read two other books in the 500-600 page region over 4 days, whilst this one took me a few weeks. It is dense material as well. Usually I read lighter stuff, so I think that may have contributed to me finding it a little tough going.

  22. Haha, I hate trying to read whilst falling asleep! I always lose my concentration so quickly trying to read when tired!

I definately would still recommend 'The Crimson Petal and the White'. I rated it a 8 out of 10 so I still enjoyed it, I don't know, there was just this one character in particular who I found myself constantly wrestling with almost the entire book. It was still a very good read though. But long! I didn't appreciate the length of it at first, it took me almost a whole month!

  23. Hey Roxi,

The townhouse went unconditional today! So yeah, it is all done with thank God! We move in in the first week of August.

I'm not sure about 'The Crimson Petal and the White' to be 100% honest. It was a good book, no doubt, but I felt really odd for most of it. It is tough to describe but I was unsure about exactly how I felt about the majority of the characters for most of it. There was only one character that I was 100% sure of my feelings towards. Really strange.

Glad to hear all is well with you, what are you getting up to at the moment?

  24. My first job was a paper run. I think I was 10 years old when I snagged it and I absolutely loathed it.
  25. Haha, thanks anyways Kylie. Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting it done with, it just seems to be a never-ending process!
