  1. I, too, liked the story. Picoult always seems to bring out conflicting emotions in me -- I guess this is from the psychological aspect Picoult weaves through so many of her novels.. It always seems to show two conflicting sides, and I usually swap back and forth from one side to the other. Anyone else have this kind of reaction to her writing?
  2. I recently finished this book (just before the end of 2008) and so did a search to see people's thoughts on it. Between this thread and another, I noticed that many readers were about to start this book or had it in their TBR pile. Since then, has anyone else finished the book and if so, any thoughts on it? I loved the story and hated seeing it end.
  3. Maybe some others will join at some point :)

  4. I've never tried reading more than one at once.. I can't imagine my not being driven crazy by trying to read two at once!
  5. We move so much right now that I don't keep a lot of books. Anything I buy, I pass on to someone else to avoid having to lug it around in a suitcase from country to country. Before we moved overseas, I used the library to avoid paying a fortune for books that I can get for free. When I move into a settled home, I'll have to debate between buying all my books so I can keep and display them on some pretty bookshelves, or still using the library and saving space/money by not buying and storing books. We'll see!
  6. I read "The Beach House" by Jane Green in one sitting.. Fabulous book and just too hard to put down!
  7. I have a friend that's from Minnesota.. she's the only one I know though
  8. I don't have a thing for Gerard Butler (I know I know.. I'm totally in the minority on this one!) so can safely say the movie paled vastly in comparison to the book for me. -- Gerard or no Gerard The book is definitely much better!
  9. oooh my little guilty pleasures include any kind of celeb-related magazine (People, US Weekly, etc). i even regularly visit eonline.com and ew.com .. I just can't help myself! I also like O (Oprah's magazine) and Real Simple (the organizational magazine).
  10. ooooooh i couldn't bear to look! although i will say that there are those that i'm trying to remember where i was in a book if i didn't mark it, and i have to flip around and read a couple of lines to establish if that's the correct page or not. sometimes i've read things that i think gives too much away and i'm all upset about it. i've realized that with me, i tend to actually forget that part i read... as i get back into the story at the right spot, the little tidbit i read flies out of my head completely and then i don't think about it again until i re-read it again. i have a feeling it wouldn't be quite the same with reading the ending of a book b/c thats just too hard to forget, but still.. makes me grateful for my apparently terrible memory!
  11. Might as well go for PS I Love You.. It seems to be voted favorably upon by the majority.
  12. Hope you don't want to off yourself w/in the first few pages, Roxi... Maybe you'll be just like Charm and be pleasantly suprised! You'll have to let us know how you get on with it once you give it a try.

  14. That's awesome for them.. India is a different world!! I'm enjoying it here.. It's a bit of a shock to the system at first, but there's so much to do in Bombay and we've made some great friends. I've also been lucky enough to volunteer with an NGO, which is a great experience for me. We have 3 more months here, and I know some things here will be hard to say goodbye to!
  15. Awesome! .. How does Project G work? I'm ashamed.. I should know, but I don't. I'm a huge library fan so never had a need until now to look into it. Thanks for the info

  24. The fact that it's the first thing I check when I get home is not doing much to discourage the 'addictive' factor you spoke of. ;) It's great though.. I've gotten so many new book suggestions and I can't wait to try some of them! Everyone's so friendly, too.. I'm enjoying myself so far. :)
