  1. We're having caesar salads tonight.. Yum!
  2. First off, this cracked me up. Love it, MuggleMagic. Second, I'd be really annoyed if I got a library book and there were pen markings all in it, especially if all the marking led to a note as unsubstantial as "REALLY??" C'mon now...
  3. Raven.. too funny! Welcome, Page Turner!
  4. Hi Jennyflower ! Glad your aunt and cousin got you interested.. Happy to have you here.
  5. That is SO neat that she's getting to travel so young.. Those things are experiences that people take through them all through the rest of their life, and it can really make an impact. Traveling is such a blessing.. It really lets you see the world from a different perspective, and it's wonderful that your daughter is getting to start so young; these experiences can really help shape her!

Hey no worries.. Everyone but me calls him "Raj" anyway, so I didn't even notice that you'd said it! :)

  6. Oooh your daughter is in Germany! What part?! How old is she exactly? That is so exciting.. I bet she is having a great time. But I do bet you miss her madly. :) And soon you'll have them all to yourselves for summer.. I bet you are so looking fwd to that!

No problem about Raja's job.. He works in banking, and he's doing a rotational program that rotates him through a different aspect of the business (and location) every 6 months. This is our final rotation (Hong Kong) so the next job will be permanent. We hope to go back to the US for the permanent job, but the financial markets are rough right now, which means we can't afford to be as picky. So far he's applying to jobs in Australia and California, and hopefully more options will come along soon. We'll see what happens... :)

  7. Hi Janet! :) Yes, isn't my profile very... pink? ;)

I've been around more frequently the past week, but it's been in little 10 or 15 minute increments as I get a little bit of time. I come play catch up for a little bit, then rush back off.. not very conducive to conversation, but I'm doin' my best! :)

We are still loving Hong Kong.. We have about 2 more months here before the rotation ends.

    How are you doing?

By the way, I still love your lil' Matilda avatar!

  8. Welcome to BCF! There are at least two other Canadians runnin' around here somewhere.. I'm sure you'll meet them soon!
  9. We had tagliatelle alfredo with garlic shrimp.
  10. The book club guides in the back of some books don't usually bother me one way or another. I DO like it when an author does a Q&A about a book in the back, though.. I often have unanswered questions when I turn the last page of a book, and more often than not, some of those questions are covered in an author's Q&A about the story.
  11. Wow! So many languages you know.. Impressive! Welcome to BCF.. hope you enjoy it here.
  12. Oooh good luck with this challenge, Paula! You've made your way a good portion of the ones you've already picked.. Hope you continue to enjoy.
  13. I will try to love him. And yes, more wine for you.
  14. Hi, Adam! Welcome back. I wasn't on the boards when you were here the first time, so you're all new to me! Congrats on the career swap, and enjoy your time until school starts back up again.
  15. Quorn pieces with korma sauce, jasmine rice, & naan.
  16. Maybe not really a tangible "gadget," but I ran across this page today that lets you download many classic literature titles for free... some are even in Itunes version, so I'm assuming you could listen on your Ipod. http://www.openculture.com/2006/10/audio_book_podc.html Warning: I haven't tried any of these yet, so not sure how they work or any of the steps in the process.. I'll try to give it a go soon!

    Hey All

    Hello, Timmo! Glad you're here
  18. I mean these little thingies.. http://www.thebookseat.com/ Although I think it'd be annoying to have to lower that white plastic bar in order to turn the page each time, I still think the benefits of this gadget would outweigh the hassle of that. Scarlette, this book cave is hilarious! (http://www.likecool.com/Cave_Bookshelf--Store--Home.html) What in the world?!
  19. Oh... My. You certainly picked a challenge of a job this time around, didn't ya? ;) Very admirable that A) someone picked out specifically to recruit for the job and B) that's a job you're able to handle and look forward to. I'd be hopeless at it. Does "challenging" mean mostly behaviour problems?

Things are still good out here.. We're having a great time in Hong Kong. We have a little over 2 more months here, and then we settle on a permanent placement and have more of a "home" setting. So far, we're applying to 2 jobs in California and 1 in Australia. Hopefully some more options will come along also, so we'll see what happens. :)

  20. All done with The ABC Murders.. good read, and of course I was way off as to the who and/or why! :) That's all I'll say as to not spoil anything at all in case you decide to read it!

I just read up on The Secret History.. It looks good! I've never heard of the murder case it's supposed to parallel, but it sounds really interesting. Plus, it's written by a lady who was born in Mississippi, which is one state from where I grew up. I always love to read authors who are from my area or close for some reason. :)

Let me know how you like the book.. If it's a great one, I may pick it up for myself sometime.

  21. I can totally understand.. Just makes ya feel better to know SOMEONE out there is enjoying it!
  22. I have a feeling I'd be right there with ya.. Does NOT seem like my thing. Thank goodness some other readers are enjoying it!
