  1. I thought your thread title was funny, too. Like it. Welcome to BCF.. Have fun settling in; there's tons to look at! Plenty of people here around your age, too, and even though I'm not exactly your age, I still sometimes read the same kind of books I was reading at that time in my life, so that counts, eh?!
  2. Aww yey!! I am so glad you loved this! It is on my list, and I'm so excited to get my hands on it at some point. Thanks for the review!
  3. Well, in that case, chippys sound wonderful!!
  4. So, I'm used to hearing "chips" there called "fries" where I'm from. And I had fries and gravy one time in Manhattan.. I am on the right track here, yes?
  5. Oooh I loved "And Then There Were None!" Excellent book! Sorry about your toe But give "Lord of the Flies" a chance.. It's supposed to be fabulous by the end.
  6. I'm exactly as you, Fev. I actually rarely buy new books. I've picked up a few from used bookstores, but I really do mean a few. I mostly use the library.
  7. Ahh you were set to go then with the movie! I can't remember what happened at the end of the book.. I read it so long ago, and I tend to forget major parts of books. Too bad I'm not a re-reader.. I'd be the prime candidate. Spoiler me and fill me in again on the ending if you get a chance.
  8. Wow you are flying right through these books! Nicely done. Your challenge will be completed in no time!
  9. Ugh.. How disappointing. New houses are so exciting and you can't even go look at it! I hope you get a surprise break in there for A) your book and your new home, more importantly!
  10. Heh.. I wasn't close at all! Mine's "Wedding Season" by Katie Fforde... mindless entertainment over here.
  11. Ahh I see you found our "location" section on the User CP details.. Now I know exactly where you are. I hope you're settling in well!
  12. I'm a few days late, but just saw some posts from you on the forum and realized I was away from the comp for a few days when you joined and I didn't get to welcome you. From where are you moving, and to which part of the US are you moving?
  13. I apologize for the double post, but my last one was a couple of days ago, so I wanted to post a new one so Catwoman hopefully sees it. Not sure if you're already moved to the US or not, but I'm in Hong Kong and they even have this book in our libraries here -- There are LOTS of English books I can't get from the libraries here, so chances are if it's here, it's in most places. Just wanted to pass it along that you can probably get your hands on it really easily, ESPECIALLY if you're in the USA already.
  14. Hi Andy! Glad you joined us. There are some diehard Deaver fans here, so you'll have much to talk about on that front. I think there are some sports people about too, although I generally try to avoid them. Just playing! Welcome!
  15. So glad to hear your vacation was relaxing and stress-free. I usually opt for the relaxation vacations as opposed to the hectic touring.. I like both and they both have their pros, but there's nothing for me like relaxing, taking it easy, and reading while on vaca. :)

Ooh.. you're over halfway done with the prep for the French reception! Yey! What kind of appetizers did you guys pick to do? I'm sure there were lots of yummy ones. :)

Raja is hopefully on the mend.. thinks it could just be some neck pain from staring at a computer so much at work. We're trying heat and new monitor height and all that stuff, so we'll see how it goes. :)

  16. Feel like I know this one.. Is this by Dean Koontz? Just hazarding a guess. I am a wedding planner that just accepted a job planning the ceremony and reception for a major celebrity.. in only two months time. To make things more complicated, that wedding is on the same day as my sisters, which I'm also planning!
  17. I made chicken parmigiana tonight.. Lately, I've been making quite a few recipes from this site: http://www.kevinandamanda.com/recipes They're so easy and so yummy!!
  18. Hi and welcome, FrannyAnn!
  19. Hi and welcome, Kirsten! Where are you from?
  20. I'm a bit behind here, but I see you read Skipping Christmas .. I read that also and laughed the entire way through it. Just hilarious! They did a film adaptation of it at some point (with a different title) and it wasn't nearly as good as the book to me.
