  1. Yeah I definately agree, I think it's sad to have lived a life and never been interesting in reading, I for sure couldn't live without my books
  2. I re-read quite a lot, but these are the ones I do most I think: The Time Traveler's Wife My Sister's Keeper Twilight saga Harry Potter series Speak Sweep (sometimes called Wicca) series The Lovely Bones Touching Evil
  3. Yeah that's exactly it, I think she let fame get to her too much and wrote what she wanted and to hell with the fans, which is sad really because if it weren't for the fans in the first place then she wouldn't have even become so popular. I mean she knew it would annoy people because she fought like hell to stop it leaking, knowing that if people saw the leak they wouldn't buy the book, but I know many people who returned the books or burned them because they were so terrible
  4. Ditto, I love to read a wide variety of books and I don't have many friends irl that read anyway, so they wouldn't have a clue about what a book is like from its title, but I can't really imagine why you'd be too embarrased to admit to it
  5. I've got some books from my BF for xmas that I asked for, and so I'm pleased, I'll probably buy a few with the money my nan sends me too
  6. Yeah it is a great series, although I do feel the last book let it down massively, S.Meyer just seemed to go back on everything she had said about vampires in previous books :/
  7. I actually think I have that lying around here somewhere, my BF's sister told me I should read it and I just put it to the side
  8. Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to have a browse through
  9. Brilliant book, brilliant series! I was addicted and read the whole series straight through, I think you'll enjoy them Pip
  10. The boy was so pale you would have thought he was a ghost. Overheard In A Dream by Torey Hayden
  11. I usually have ones that are free on the side in waterstones, the book advert type ones, or if i can't find one of them then a scrap of craft paper or whatever else I can find is used. I never fold the pages, I used to when I was a teen but I grew out of that a long time ago, and like some of the others here I take the covers off hardbacks when I'm about to read them so they don't get damaged.
  12. I thought exactly the same RoxiS.C. when I read them, the 4th was a terrible let down, though I did enjoy the first 3 overall. Up until now I've stubbornly refused to read classic books, anything by Bronte, or Austen for example, but this coming year i'm going to try and expand my reading and hopefully read one, even if I dislike it in the end I can atleast say I tried it! Other than that, Westerns are pretty much the only thing I flat out refuse to read, so not my type of thing. Don't really read old war type books either. Actually looking at this, it seems I just don't do anything old haha. I like more modern novels I guess!
  13. That's exactly how me and my BF are He doesn't mind me reading although he's not a reader himself, other than the QI factual type of books. He'll often ask what the book is about, and doesn't mind going book shopping with me or buying me books as presents
  14. The Time Traveler's Wife, A Child Called "It" & My Sister's Keeper were all very sad for me
  15. You might enjoy the Women of the Underworld series by Kelley Armstrong, it has 9 books so far, and all of them are intertwined in some way but are about different women who have different supernatural things about them, like a werewolf, a witch, a ghost etc. There are also short novella's that tie in with the whole series that you can get from her website. Anyway, this link will tell you about the series and the novellas
  16. Yeah, that's exactly how I get, especially with Twilight <3 Other than that, I usually feel terribly sad when reading Torey Hayden books, or any other real life abuse books, like A Child Called "It" I read lots of different stories along this vein, and it never fails to amaze me that there are such monsters in the world:motz:
  17. I mainly read in evening/night time, though I do carry a book with me when I go out so if I'm ever sat around with nothing to do I can crack it open for a few minutes. I do prefer quiet, but I can read with the TV on if my BF is watching sports or something else uninteresting to me
