  1. RIP Omar. Those eyes, such wonderful eyes.
  2. I feel a Revelations thread may be opened up on the forum.........how many revelations do you have?
  3. I'm not sure what to make of your post. You are clearly recommending the Caine series, but then go on to say that despite the three books having changed your life you wonder whether the 4th is worth reading. I would say that if you liked the three first ones that much then reading the latest one would be an obvious choice. I had not heard of the series, but realised that they are fairly recent ones, at least on kindle.
  4. I often return to the same locations in my dreams. There is a large scruffy house, a wooden pub set on a land spit out at sea, and I also visit an empty huge sprawling hotel. They have been dream locations for about 35 years and as far as I am aware are not real places. They have appeared so often over the years that if I am upset or disturbed in my dreams I will 'steer' my dream self to one of the three places. As I sit here typing this I can 'see' the three places in my mind, they are that familiar to me.
  5. What a great photo catch muggle not! Such a sweet (in every sense) bear.
  6. Sorry for the late reply muggle not. I read mainly on my kindle, with a few paperbacks and hardbacks thrown into the mix. How about you?
  7. Your three lines on The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader sum it up beautifully, and I know exactly what you mean about the sadness aspect of the book. The Narnia series is definitely worth a reading every few years. Actually, it's been a few years for me, and they are on my kindle.......
  8. I accidentally bought the book when I went to wishlist it. Oops. There's no point in my not keeping it now.
  9. Stig Of The Dump was a favourite of mine, such a lovely story. I will have to read it again.
  10. What a poignant saying frankie. I have made a note of that.
  11. I have this on my TBR pile (can it be a pile if it's a kindle book?), so am glad you enjoyed it. It may be read sooner rather than later now.
  12. A UK programme called That's Life had SIr Nicholas Winton on their show many years ago to reveal his heroism. Wonderful viewing, such a special individual.
  13. Hot. So darned hot. < This is what I look like!
  14. I'm aiming for healthy and happy for myself and those I love. I'l be closing in on 60 by then (I'm 48 this year), and my son will be 40, so maybe a grandchild might be on the scene. I also see books in my future, the tree and kindle kind. They are my past and my present, so I can get away with saying future too. If I'm still around, many books will also be. p.s Will everyone please stop saying how depressing getting older is for them? There really is only one alternative to ageing, so the older I manage to healthily get the happier I'll be. Also, getting older is fab in so many ways that you cannot even imagine yet, you darned youngsters!
  15. I've read a few of the Nelson DeMille books, and especially liked Plum Island and Night Fall featuring the character, John Corey. I'm pretty sure I still have Mr DeMille on my shelves. If you are interested I'd be happy to send some to you to give them a try.
  16. I have the book of Warm Bodies on my shelf, and did something I NEVER do - I watched the film before reading the book. It will be read soon.
  17. I watched Warm Bodies yesterday. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. A real quirky funny and visually effective treat.
