  1. Two books arrived today. 'The Ninth Life Of Louis Drax' by Liz Jensen, a book that caught my eye, and the blurb made me buy it. The second book I will be sending to my nephew, 'Dragons And Beasts' by Finlay Cowan, a descriptive and beautifully illustrated reference of beasties and how to draw them, and design ones of your own.
  2. It's the only based-on-a-tv-series type book that I've ever read ~ 'The Lost Slayer' written by Christopher Golden. Its pretty good, with the familiar characters captured well and wrapped up in an interesting story. As I said earlier, an easy read.
  3. Hello Denise and welcome to the forum.
  4. I know a few people were reading 'A Year Of Wonders' by Geraldine Brooks for a US Book Ring. It's based on a true story. Here's the blurb,
  5. Oh Raven, you do like to live dangerously don't you? The Twi fans will get you at some point!
  6. My mojo is mucking about again, so I am attempting to read a Buffy The Vampire Slayer derived story 'The Lost Slayer'. It is easy to read, and I know the characters so it shouldn't be too taxing. *Chrissy buckles up to go kick some demon and vampire butt!*
  7. 'Muriel's Wedding' is a brilliant film. I can definitely recommend it as an early Toni Collete film!
  8. Karin Slaughter's next book 'Genesis' may help you Shin. I forgave her once I read this Will Trent / Grant County series cross over.
  9. This looks like it may be what you're after. Then there is S&S here. I hope that helps. P.S. you be careful now, and stay away from those murderous futons.
  10. What a brilliant term to use Pablo!
  11. Moments when your life changes: there will always be a before and after, separated, perhaps, by a knock at the door. 'What To Do When Someone Dies' by Nicci French
  12. Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit ~ Jeanette Winterson
  13. Excellent, that is so good to hear! Thanks Pickle. Julia, a great thread to have started, and one I will be returning to for further ideas. The HHGTTG that Kell recommended is very good ~ I listened to it many years ago and loved it.
  14. I recently bought a BBC Radio 4 Full Cast Dramatisation of Philip Pulman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy. I haven't had a chance to listen to it, but it was recommended to me. I plan on passing it on to my parents, who I think would enjoy the story but don't feel able to 'commit' to reading them.
  15. Frankie, in CW's absence, I will say this; if you don't read fractured soon then you will never get to know about the or anything about and that would be a shame as I know you'd just adore I mean, really.
  16. 'The Mexican' with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. It has been sitting on the dvd shelf for years, and tonight we finally got around to watching it. A strangely enjoyable film.
  17. Finished 'The Last Child' by John Hart. A taut and compelling read, well written. I will definitely be looking out for more by this author.
  18. CONGRATULATIONS! That is wonderful news.
  19. doubles as a surprisingly effective woodfiller when.....
  20. It always reminds me of 'Three Men And A Little Lady' when they have their party and mistakenly put this on.
  21. Manila, Phillipines.
  22. Guildford, Surrey UK
