Finished Suzanne Collin's 'The Hunger Games ~ Catching Fire', the second in the trilogy. I cannot allow myself to even get the third book from the shelf tonight, otherwise I would have to say goodbye to a night's sleep. This is such a compelling series. I find myself holding my breathe every few minutes as yet another "Oh. My. Goodness." moment hits me; be it a scene of intense poignancy, an act of incredible daring by one of the great characters, or a moment of sudden and unexpected brutality. What a book.

My husband playing table tennis on the Wii. He was swearing too much doing the canoeing!

Jasper Fforde's 'Shades Of Grey', Eoin Colfer's 'And Another Thing...', and Han Nolan's 'If I Should Die Before I Wake' arrived while I was out today! I have no idea how they came to be bought............................*walks away whistling tunelessly*

I have started 'Hunger Games ~ Catching Fire'. I didn't dare start it before I headed for work earlier, as I don't think I would have made it in. What a fabulous series this is.

I left my copy of 'City Of Bones' at my parent's house a few weeks back, so that one of my sisters could borrow it. She has only just got her hands on it as my Mum was hooked from the first page! My Mum has now read all three, and my sister has taken the three books into protective custody. I have a copy of 'Clockwork Angel' wending it's way to me, that I imagine will have to head to my sister via my Mum too. I think it's great, and goes to show what excellent reads they are.

1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins What a ride! This is a fast paced ,important and thrilling read that is often quite touching and at times harrowing. With well defined and described characters and scenes tautly but evocatively described this is a compelling book. As I read the last word on the last page I was already getting up from the sofa to grab the 2nd book in the trilogy, 'Hunger Games ~ Catching Fire'. I could spend all day and beyond recommending this book, telling you how brilliant Katniss is as a central character, how I my head is still there, as well as my heart. I could, but I won't. Just read it. Oh, and for those who already have read it....The tears really flowed when the flowers had been draped and a gift of bread arrived. Oh dear me, I choked.

What do you mean "If anyone is interested"? I'm VERY interested! Thanks for posting this. As a non-tweeter, I would not have heard about this.

PIckle has finished whereas I have just started 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins. So far, so gripping, and my fickle reading mojo is chomping at the bit.

Great writer, and thank goodness that he was able to reach a great age. RIP Dick King-Smith

I second Poppy's thoughts on Pontalba's, and I also want to note LaurenBeth's. Love it!

Oh that is sad. I adored Gerry Rafferty's music. Like Ooshie, 'Baker Street' is an all time favourite album. RIP Gerry.

Please help to find some books !

Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, starting with 'The Eyre Affair' is a series I often recommend. They are clever, witty and multi layered. Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy; 'Northern Lights' or 'The Golden Compass', 'The Subtle Knife' and 'The Amber Spyglass'. A wonderfully original trio of books that explores parallel worlds. Audrey Niffenegger's 'The Time Traveler's Wife' is an extraordinary story that depicts the struggle of a time traveller, and his wife. It is such an original book that places concepts in your path as if they are the most natural occurences in the world. It is essentially a love story, but absolutely not chick lit. -
Give him a lick Mmm he tastes just like raisins!

I've been PICKLED! Pickle is on Book 2 of 'The Hunger Games' Trilogy, and is loving them. Coincidentally the first book was in my possible 12 pile, so I have read a few pages of that. If my mojo plays up at al.l the other 11 will be listed here, and I will be demanding a suggestion of which to read. You lot are BRILLIANT!

OOo, they're nice too. I understand your difficulty as it has to be the 'right' poppy, not just any.

Here, look Frankie, cookies. And they're shaped just like little books...Mmmmmm, yum. That's right, eat it all up and have a sleep.

If there is a recommended Tattoo artist who can give the transparent effect, then I say "YES!" It would be really pretty. Where would you have it Poppy?

OK folks this is a Mod alert! Everyone, please back slowly away from this thread. Don't make eye contact with Frankie, and what ever you do, don't show her you are carrying books. Just very slowly get to the door......yeah, that's it..... "Good Frankie, that's a good reader" The BCF Books-Sent-Her-Mad Squad will be here soon. They'll take very good care of her. She'll soon be back to just buying and wanting too many books. Don't worry.

That's beautiful LaurenBeth. I took a look at Tara McPherson's site, and the painting from which you got this idea is just stunning. Great choice.

I was so sad to read about the death of one of my favourite actors, Pete Postlethwaite. He was called 'the best actor in the world' by Steven Speilberg, and he was definitely in my Top ten of stunning actors. So Pete, I hope you Rest In Peace.

I'm truly intrigued by this one Lucybird. I am going to see how my mojo copes this month, as I do hope to make a proper dent in my TBR pile. If that doesn't work out I think that this will be a real kill or cure challenge for me.
-
May I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their interest, and to say "GULP!" My mojo so far has not even got me selecting a book. I currently have 12 possibles, but haven't leant toward any in particular. No matter, this year just has to be better than last year....it just has to be! < good flounce eh?
