  1. Great review Michelle, and a definite for my wish list.
  2. Finished my re read of Jasper Fforde's 'The Eyre Affair', and have decided to stay with Thursday Next and move straight onto 'Lost In A Good Book'. I adore these books!
  3. Already do. I am absolutely delighted!
  4. I'VE GOT ONE, I'VE GOT ONE, I'VE GOT ONE!!! Husband decided I should have a surprise and bought me a Kindle. I'VE GOT ONE! So very excited and happy, and have downloaded about 12 free books (including Magyk by Angie Sage) and 4 very cheap books. I had planned on getting myself a Kindle at some stage, maybe next year, but my utterly gorgeous other half decided I should have one now. I love it, and instnctively know that I will make great use of it alongside my 'traditional' book reading.
  5. ALL READERS ARE HOT!
  6. My Mum and sister have both now read the first three in Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series, and her 'Clockwork Angel', and my Mum is on Book 3 of 'The Hunger Games' trilogy, and loving it to death. I have given my sister Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy to move onto to keep her reading juices flowing......I already have more books lined up to quietly "This one's quite good, why not give it a try?" nudge in their direction. Mwahahah! Having enjoyed all these books myself, my mojo decided to have a wobbly. Amidst the wobble, I kept being drawn to Japsper Fforde's 'The Eyre Affair'. Such a clever and witty book. My mojo is gurgling with enjoyment at this re read. It may lead to my ploughing my way through the whole series again in one major Nextian heap, but so long as my mojo is happy, so am I.
  7. We can hope! I think that it can be really useful to have threads like these that bring together titles in a particular genre / sub genre, and see what others come up with. I've added many a title to my ever expanding TBR pile and wishlists from these 'Looking For...' threads. Darn it!
  8. I have read the whole Boudicca series, and absolutely loved them. I always feel the sign of a good book is when you can smell the scene as much as see it, and that is definitely the case here. Manda Scott is a really good writer, with great skill at descibing a scene so thorougly you see it away from the text. Her characters are well rounded and complex individuals and she seems to be equally at ease with historical novels such as her Boudicca series, as well as her crime / thriller books. Looking forward toreading what you think of them Booknutt.
  9. My mojo had a wobbly recently, and I was getting mightily nervous that 2011 would be as bad a reading year (in numbers) as 2010 was. I kept being drawn to a re read of 'The Eyre Affair' by the fabulous Jasper FForde, so I have given in to my mojo and have started it. Mojo busting!
  10. This liddle canary is currently flying my way. Darn these good reviews.
  11. Douglas Adams! There's another one to add to your list.
  12. Ths is a brilliant read, allthough as Poppyshake says, grim in parts.
  13. Jasper Fforde immediately springs to mind, but I will have to ponder a bit to come up with some others..
  14. There's a great page on Jasper Fforde's web site, here. I am a huge fan of Jasper FForde, so will definitely want to read this.
  15. I have been too busy and over tired to start a new read these past few days, but I have added to my TBR by buying a number of books for a range of reasons; 'Italian For Beginners' for my 81 year old Dad who foolishly said he was too old to learn a language. He and my Mum love Italy. 'Travels With Boogie' by Mark Wallington. This is my 2nd copy of this book ~ my Dad still has the 1st one. 'Passage' by Connie Willis. I have to stop reading the reviews of Pixie others on here. 'Everything Is Illuminated' by Jonathan Safran. See Above replacing name with Rory. 'Wounds Of Honour' by Anthony Riches. Husband bought himself a book, only to discover it was part 2. Finally I have purchased the 4 Official Dr Who Annuals (2007/8/9 & 10). What can I say? It's my new thing.
  16. 25 years? In my mind, it's about 8 years ago. I remember watching it too, so sad.

    Tattoos!

I agree, I think some colour would complete it. Gorgeous.
  18. This is not the site for you then. It might be worth you contacting your local library as they may carry a copy of this title that you can borrow.

    Tattoos!

Wouldn't that look great with poppies! A little trail across your foot. Univerze, the finished tattoo looks fabulous. Whitegold, your tats are wonderful, but I especially like the poem (and the font used) and flowers.
  20. I just snorted so hard at this comment I choked!
  21. Would Martina Cole fit the bill perhaps? I've not read any of hers but I think she tends to write about London gangster underworld. alexanderthe Grape, can I ask why this specific sub-genre? It seems very specific. I will have a think and see if I can think of any more.
  22. Rory needed to experience a Logan in my opinion. If she hadn't, then she might have fallen for one later on in her life, to greater detriment. She was always tettering on the edges of great wealth and privilege, and through Logan she experienced the other side to that, and was able to come away from that with her integrity intact. Yep, she needed a Logan.
  23. Well, there would be quite a bit of protein for you there! Although I'd stick with girls; sugar and spice and all things nice!
  24. They have a hole in the centre so that I can hook them onto my broom handle when I am out on an evening flight!
  25. You made this the last thing you mention in your Book Activity list? I am shocked and horrified! ps We will need to see pics!
