  1. Can I ask why? I really enjoyed it when I read it a while back, and would love to know.
  2. I have recently watched and enjoyed the first three Twilight movies; Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. Although I am (clearly) not a teenager, I can see the appeal of these easy viewing, well paced and cleverly cgi'd films. We are talking star crossed (but chaste) lovers, age old enemies, rivalries and slow motion chase / fight scenes. I will catch up with the last two in time. A plenty couple of non-taxing hours.
  3. Congratulations Talisman! That is great news. Well done!

  12. Hello Stranger # good to 'see' you.
  13. Wow Laura, a real life changing time then? All I can add is "You go for it!" A busy old time of things lately. From morning to night I am rushing in and out, only have five minutes here and there to actually chill or do things like eat! Another week or so or manic and life should settle down to it's usual pace. Tonight is a quiet one though, and I am looking forward to the chinese takeaway that husband has promised later.
  14. That is fan-hobbit-tastic!

  16. To anyone potentially effected by this storm, big hugs and my wishes for your continued safety.

  20. 31) The Attenbury Emeralds by Jil Paton Walsh Jill Paton Walsh was commisioned by the executors of Dorothy L Sayers estate to complete a Lord Peter Wimsey novel that she had been working on before her death The result was 'Thrones, Dominations', a book I thorougly enjoyed. She added another book, 'A Presumption Of Death', which I also enjoyed. When I saw that she had written a third I decided to get hold of it. Dorothy L Sayer's characters are so well drawn and her plots so well written, it was quite an undertaking to write three further novels, but Jill Paton Walsh has doena terrific job of it. She captures the spirit of the characters very well indeed, and there are only a small number of places where I felt a slight jar. I would say that 'The Attenbury Emeralds' concludes the Lord Peter and Harriet Vane series wonderfully, satisfying all points for the fan of the two. The story looks back at Lord Peter's first 'case', and brings the reader forward to the austere years of the 1950's. A world wonderfuly evoked and a fiting tribute to Ms Sayers and her characters.
  21. I have been listening to John Frusciante's version of the Bee Gees 'How Deep Is Your Love?'
  22. I saw 'The Hunger Games'. I thought it was pretty good.
  23. I think any badly used punctuation is annoying if it continues throughout a piece of writing. The writing aside from that would have to be pretty good to make me stick with it for long. Looking at what you have written here felines are superior, I instantly noticed that you hadn't used any capital letters in your sentences, which would be another thing that would annoy me after a while in any lengthy piece of writing, unless of course the writer is ee cummings.
  24. 'Mr Chartwell' is wonderful, and all these months later it still resonates with me. Such an unusual way to tell a story. It is so incredibly captivating and at the point of reading the central premise makes exquisiite sense. How the heck she 'sold' the story to a publisher is beyond me - I wouldn't have known where to begin! Regarding the Jill Paton Walsh book, she was commisioned to complete from Dorothy L Sayers writings the book 'Thrones, Dominations', which I really enjoyed. She then went on to write 'A Presumption Of Death' and 'The Attenbury Emeralds'. They are the continuing stories of Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet. She has done a good job of them, and I only recently heard of and bought the last book. I think I might do a Lord Peter series re read - maybe my fragile mojo is hankering after some early twentieth century class distinct detective stories.
