Help needed- looking for a Disney ghost movie
Chrissy replied to vodkafan's topic in Music / TV / Films
Susie Q? It doesn't quite fit your description, but you never know! -
Don't give me sympathy anyone ~ it's only a cold after all! I just thought that at this time of year over on this side of the planet we are heading wildly into cold and 'flu season, and a thread on cures, remedies and indulgent soothers was worth having on the forum. The suggestions are great - I went one better than orange juice though as my son had left an unopened giant bottle of clementine juice in my fridge when he went home the other day. This stuff is the posh of the citrus world. Olbas Oil I have and always use (forgot to mention it earlier) but I love the sound of the footsie vapour rub! That is going be administered tonight.

Looking on the internet it is interesting to read all the suggestions out there, it's fascinating stuff to read. According to one site the two best things to do are to gargle salt water, and to administer a nasal lavage (nasal cavity / sinus rinse) as soon as you feel a cold coming on. The one big thing the site (I think it was a blog) mentioned was how marvellous honey is. My Dad used to keep bees many years ago, so I grew up with honey, and it is my first port of call when I'm feeling rough, so it was great to read that scientists consider it a positive cold buster. Echinacea, Vicks Sinex, Zinc and Vit C all seem to make the lists of cold busters - there must be something that makes them popular go-to products! I am lucky, as I don't often catch cold or go down with the flu. This one caught me off guard! I reckon I am over the worst of it now, but the battle continues.........

I have developed a stinky rotten cold. To combat it I am staying warm, getting to bed early, drinking lots of fluids, eating good and healhy food (with a few naughty bits thrown in from time to time), having hot honey drinks and taking an occasional paracetemol / ibruprofen tablet. So the question is ; What do you do when you have a cold? An special remedies? Do's and don'ts? Come on, help me beat this cold....gimme your cures!

How sad Pontalba. A young death leaves such devastation in it's wake. Today my brother leaves to head home to Australia. He has been in the UK for 3 weeks, spending the first weekend and this last 5 days with us. It has flown by! We are meeting some friends at the airport who want to see him off. I have already decided to leave before he heads through. I can't face seeing him go through, so we plan n joining the friends for a coffee then leaving them chatting round a table - much better for my fragile emotions to cope with!

I kept forgetting that I wasn't quite there yet. I love getting older. It's liberating and entertaining. You also have to be alive to age, so each passing year announces to the universe that I'm still around!

The Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling - General discussion
Chrissy replied to Michelle's topic in General Fiction
Well said! I plan on reading nothing about the book before I have read it for myself. Then I'll know for myself. -
I turned 45 last month, although I spent the first part of the year saying (when asked) that I already was! That's ageing for you.

And why not? That's a very good looking bunch of dwarves!

The language of flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh

This has just gone to the top of my wishlist ~ it looks like a lovely read. -
Thanks BB! I've just trundled along and got that, despite my attempt at not buying any more books this year! Some offers are too good to pass up!

Weirdly the song you have noted here Poppy is the song I consider 'me and my bruvver's' song. The swine I call my big brother sent me a live recording of it many years ago, just after he had moved to Australia. We had both always loved the song, but when Mr Finn spoke the line, "...and on the other side of the world, the strawberries are about to be picked" I just collapsed in a heap of tears. I get teary whenever I hear that version now. Your timing is impeccable.

What a wonderful location, and such a lovely thing for someone to consider donating to future generations. Thank you for sharing muggle not.

I am of no use there muggle not. I thought like Raven and considered that maybe he was a Took. It's not Bilbo himself is it? All that Elvish / Ring magic keeping him clipping along?

That is such a rock 'n' roll photo Steve! Excellent!

Any Suggestions For Me..
Chrissy replied to ashersHay's topic in Book Search and Reading Recommendations
I've read her books and can definitely recommend them. They have great character development, proper plots and plenty of intrigue. -
Great news Timstar! I will be thinking of you both on Tuesday and Wednesday sending you happy moving and starting job vibes! Brother arrived safely yesterday, and today we had a lovely lunch in the garden with Mum and Dad. We have just got home, having enjoyed a quiet and quick drink in a lovely local pub on the way back. Will probably watch a movie later (talking our way through it) and enjoy a pizza. It's just so very lovely having him around and spending some quality time with my big bro.

My Bro is visiting for 3 weeks, and after this weekend will be dashing about the place, but spending the final week with ME! He loves Australia, and his kids are there so he has no plans to move back here. I am a little overexcited right now, so I am popping out to the shops to get some last minute bits (he has requested star bars, apple turnovers and cheese 'n' onion slices) then later we will leave for the airport. * Woo Hoo*.

Tomorrow my big brother arrives in the UK from Perth (Australia). I haven't seen him in 16 years! We chat most weeks and e mail each other reguarly, and I consider him to be not only my sibling, but one of my best friends, so I am almost sick with nervous anticipation. When we ended our last call we were able to say "See Ya!", and mean it! It has never quite worked out for hm to get back here or for us to get out to see him, and time passes so darned quick. I am bigger and greyer after those 16 years, and he is too, but I think the bggest surprise will be when he sees my son who was a skinny 11 year old when he last spent time with him, and is now a strapping 6' 6" Happy days!

Love it Pickle. It has such an immediate impact that leads on to taking in more of the detail. So much to see.

Oh Nursenblack, I will have to stop visiting your thread, as I always find I end up spending money shortly afterward. I have bought Forgotten (it is winging it's way to me right now), and it looks like The Unbecoming Of Mary Dyer is about to accidentally-on-purpose be bought too!
