  4. I'm well impressed, I couldn't read it in one day. I've just had 2 weeks holiday and I'm still only a third way through The Time Travelers Wife. I'm enjoying it and think it would make a good movie. I will leave any judgement until I have reached the end. At my current rate that'll take the whole of February.
  5. I agree, it is just a general guide and if someone is making an attempt to improve their health, they should be applauded. However I do know where Crotalus is coming from. Myself, I get annoyed at RDAs for vitamins. For instance the RDA for vitamin C will stop you getting scurvy but is nothing to do with 'health', or how much your body actualy needs. I would definately recommend a juicing machine. It is a great way to get your five+ a day. Many bought juices (and other foods) are often heated to high temperatures which destroys any vitamins. If the label tells you the quantities of vitamins it is because they have been added.

Hi Zmae, welcome to the forum.
  7. Microsoft has announced the latest Windows release will not be limited, after the initial launch crashed the whole of the Microsoft site. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7825111.stm and some disturbing news today from the BBC news site, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7832652.stm
  8. I think teenagers still read books. My three are 14, 16 and 17, I always encouraged them, but at the moment they have also discovered girls /boys. My 16 year old reads the most.
  9. Great thread , I've subscribed so I can give it some thought and come back to it.

  11. I am a note taker on the whole, but don't really take notes from the books I am reading for entertainment. However if I get a new text book that's a different story, I read it with pen in my hand, then I underline, circle, tick, star, etc. Then I take notes. It also helps when I am looking something up , even years later, certain facts will jump out at me. That's one reason I want something like the Amazon Kindle because you can highlight without possibly ruining the book.
  12. Welcome Bethany, and good luck in Bombay.
  13. All of the above, I want to be entertained, to lose myself in a book, and to learn.
  14. Hello Ivyleaf, welcome to the Party

    Hi

Hi Paul and welcome. One of my best mates is a big Bernard Cornwell fan, I may have to check this author out. I'll save some money at least by borrowing.
  16. Hello Malefic, you're in the right place alright, welcome.
  17. Brilliant, I have subscribed to this thread so it will be easy to find, great job guys. (was 3am when I logged off) Gabriel Garcia Marquez seems to be the main man in Colombia. I just bought 'One Hundred Years of Solitude'and 'Love In The Time Of Cholera'. They are popular I know, I'm catching up.
  18. It would be good to come up with a list though, 3 from each country, one from some countries. There must be some that are obvious choices/ must reads. This would make a great new thread on its own.
  19. I have not seen this peronaly but have read a few reviews and appartantly The Last snows of Spring is the saddest movie ever, people crying in the cinema stuff, much grit in eyes, and seems to have stayed with people for decades. I don't believe it has ever been on tv, and when videos appear on ebay they go for about
  20. I think reading autobiographies is one way to spend some time in the company of some great people.
