  1. Home made Chicken Soup (all singing, all dancing) see here. forgive me I'm in a daft mood
  2. CAULIFLOWER CHEESE Someone gave me a cauliflower last weekend because it had some discoloration. I just cut of those bits and cooked the rest. Then I cooked some diced onion in a big pan, added a tin of mushrooms (drained), added a tin of chopped tomatoes. Made up a pkt cheese sauce and added it, added the cooked cauli. Finally grated cheese and in the oven to melt, LOVELY.
  3. I missed it too. Found it: http://demand.five.tv/Series.aspx?seasonBaseName=FlashforwardSeason1
  4. I never saw the show but I do like Darren Brown. In fact I'll make a psychic prediction now. In time when Darren has 'finished' with all the big stunts and has made a name for himself in the world, he'll turn his attention to developing products aimed at teaching people. After all, it is often said that we only use about 10% of our mind. Forget 'Brain Training', we're talking life changing psychological skills.
  5. The smell of tablet being made for Halloween . I'm off to hunt out my muffin recipes.
  6. I'm doing some research today from an old running book (non-fiction), it was published 26 years ago but the stuff in it is so relevant. The Complete Distance Runner by Bruce Tulloh I had started reading a book written by a friend (his first) Pull Up A Sandbag by Jonathan Smiles (also non-fiction) but loaned it to another friend who's in hospital. I still have a third book on the go though, One Hundred years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, I read the first 50 pages but am going back to the start, it's that good.
  7. Two suggestions. First one is book tokens, that way she'll have to go into a book shop, and might actualy like the freedom of choosing her own book. second is non-fiction, everyone likes non-fiction, encyclopedias etc.
  8. If Rav's partner is the best out of the 3 new girl dancers (and she clearly is) , then I can understand the judges dilemma. I thought Martina would stay to the end though. Joe is clearly out of his comfort zone.
  9. Granted, but you have to spend a months holiday in South America. I wish I could make a wish with no ifs buts or maybes
  10. Granted, but he'll be so rich now that he leaves the job where he would've met the love of his life, and now won't for another 5 years. I wish I could be the winner in the Dumfries Half Marathon 2009.

I've definitely got the Running bug at the moment. I've got 2 half marathons coming up soon, and Edinburgh Marathon next year, and possibly London Marathon if I get a place.

Kung Fu for many years. Taekwondo is always impressive to watch, you guys must do a lot of leg stretching.
  14. Celebs overcoming their nerves, celebs out of their comfort zones, the athleticism, the hot women, the judges, Bruce and Tess, the fact it's live telly and anything can happen, and the way the pros get really competitive and push their partners to train long hours. Here's another salsa video from YouTube, Amazing:
  15. If anyone's ever been to Wigtown in Scotland they'll know it's full of great book stores. It's actually Scotland's National Book Town, and this years Wigtown book festival is from 25th September - 4th October 2009, well worth skiving off work for, ahem so I'm told. Perhaps we could start another thread about book towns, there are 5 or 6 in the UK and about 20 worldwide.
  16. Been looking at BeBook today, a very interesting alternative to Sony Reader or Amazon Kindle. the main advantage of BeBook is it's aligned to the open source free book market, so supports a larger variety of formats. Website here: http://mybebook.com/. So at first glance this dosen't seem to be a major contender but is quite versatile and definitely better suited to all the free online material out there.
  17. People who think they're more important than they actually are, just because of their job title, and feel it gives them a right to talk down to you like you're a small child. I try to kill them with kindness these days but in the past I've heard myself say such things as "you're my Supervisor, NOT my Superior", and worse.
  18. You're right Adam, it was made for TV. The good news though is it's out on dvd, try Amazon or eBay.
  19. Although I found the 'It's Eddie's Birthday' bits annoying at first, I thought the book was a good read and his 4th person was my favourite. I'd love to see the movie starring John Voight as Eddie aswell, Trailer here. I also now want to read Tuesday's with Morrie which does sound like a better book.
  20. If British then George Best and Jimmy Johnstone would be in my five.
