  1. ^ Your celebrity status will suffer if you do.
  2. I saw The Hobbit with him (he was a bugger, kept nicking the popcorn).
  3. ^ I told the Sorting Hat I'd turn it into a thong for Hagrid if it didn't.
  4. Well, there goes the house . . .
  5. I'll second a Kindle. I only have a basic one, but it is easy to read, hold and is small enough to slip in a largeish pocket.
  6. Gryffindor! (not entirely sure how that happened, and I did answer all of the questions honestly!).
  7. No! It was good when Kirk did it!
  8. Nobody's mentioned that so far...
  9. Looks like there is. For some reason I thought the thread hadn't been posted in for a few days!
  10. Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell is £1.09 in the daily deal today.
  11. I quite like Into Darkness, but
  12. The Challenger William Hurt playing Richard Feynman in a BBC dramatisation of the investigation into the loss of the Challenger space shuttle (which happened 30 years ago today). An excellent piece of acting on Hurt's part.
  13. ^ Was that the BBC audio play of Kraken? I listened to that last weekend, it's part of what has prompted me to look at the above. Of the list, I have copies of them all, but I've not read: The Chrysalids (1955) The Seeds of Time (1956) short story collection Consider Her Ways and Others (1956) short story collection The Outward Urge (1959) Plan for Chaos (2009) If people are interested this could be made a group read(?).
  14. Thinking about doing a John Wyndham re-read. Here's the list so far: The Day of the Triffids (1951) The Kraken Wakes (1953) The Chrysalids (1955) The Seeds of Time (1956) Consider Her Ways and Others (1956) The Midwich Cuckoos (1957) The Outward Urge (1959) Trouble with Lichen (1960) Chocky (1968) Web (1979) Plan for Chaos (2009)
  15. I think I picked a good day to work from home, it's lousy out there (high winds, frequent - heavy - rain).
  16. The second episode is supposed to be a big improvement, apparently.
  17. ^ I think their trying to ape Battlestar Galactica turned a lot of people off at the start and it never really recovered. Equally, I don't think the series would have worked as well if they had stuck with the tried and tested mix of wry humour and action from the other two shows. Atlantis is my favourite Stargate show, mainly due to David Hewlett. In other news, I hate Eggheads.
  18. SG:U (or Stargate Universe in plain English). Re-watching season one, nearing the end. It's a lot better than it is often given credit for. Looking forward to Winterwatch tonight.
  19. I know it is all pukka and legit, but I've always found the landing page for Audible to be a bit confusing. Instead of a shop font page (like Amazon) you are immediately asked to sign up, which if you are only looking for a one-off audio book can be a little overwhelming (and off-putting).
  20. Yay! I finally finished a book in 2016!
  21. I got a little fed up with every Harry Potter book, post The Goblet of Fire being promoted with the information that one of the major characters was going to die, because you just spent the book waiting for it to happen.
  22. Another one to add to your list, The Killing Joke. It is Batman/Joker story, but don't let that put you off, it is very good!
  23. I do like those covers. I was tempted to get the sequels on my Kindle but, but the books look far too nice so they will be bought, at some point!
  24. Big glowing orb in the sky, not sure what it is but I may start praying to it because it seems to have banished all the wet stuff.
  25. Love this new Deadpool poster:
