  1. It was supposed to be June, I think. Not seen anything on Ben's Twitter feed about it being put back.
  2. Half interest in this; I don't really get on with Dick's novels, but most of the screen adaptations of his work are pretty good, so I'm hopeful. Ron (Star Trek/Battlestar Galactica) Moore's involvement is interesting as well.
  3. Captain America: Civil War Quite possibly the best Marvel film yet.
  4. Batman vs. Superman It pains me to say this, as I quite enjoyed Man of Steel, but this was a bit of a train wreck. It started well, with an opening that nicely sets up Bruce Wayne's animosity towards ole Supes, but after that the logic of the film (which has an alien who can fly and a man who dresses as a bat) slowly unravels as the story goes along. Both Gal Godot as Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck as Batman are pretty good, and there are some nice touches here and there, but the overall feel is one of someone stringing together a series of iconic moments with kinetic action sequences, and that's just not enough to hold a film together. Oh, and some humour please; films can be serious and still have humour in them! Civil War on Friday!
  5. ^ Well, we will have to wait until next year to find out, but I don't think you are a million miles away from what it will be.
  6. ^ I'd say give it a go. It's not very long, should only take half an hour or so to read, but it is a pretty good story.
  7. Me too, but, alas . . . I'm sure the new actress will be very good and the character will be great etc. but part of me is wondering if they will ever cast a male companion again. At the moment, the only way I can see that happening is if we get a female Doctor. Pearl Mackie has picked up over 4,000 Twitter followers in the last 20 minutes!
  8. The new Doctor Who companion is being announced live on Saturday night, at half time, during the FA Cup final that is on (should be around 6pm). W00t!

Who let George RR Martin write the script for 2016? This is another major celebrity death that I have no real in to (I think my only real experience of Prince is the Batman soundtrack in '89).
  10. I got a Samsung Galaxy A3 last August on an EE contract that is only £14.99 a month. I like it, as it's not one of these stoopid size slabs and although it fits nicely in my pocket, it is large enough that you don't have to squint at everything.
  11. For anyone who likes the Rivers of London novel's the first graphic novel, called Body Work, came out a couple of weeks ago and after a spot of trouble tracking down a copy I finally got it at the weekend and finished it last night. I was originally sceptical of a graphic novel of the books, as I didn't want anything interfering with my vision of the characters and the Folly etc. but that fell by the wayside in the wake of such a good story. I'd recommend it to anyone who like the books! The next hardback, The Hanging Tree, is out in June. Hurrah!
  12. ^ This was on my PC, which occasionally throws a fit when I try to watch a new Blu-ray. I think there is a bug in the PowerDVD software I use as I can put the same disk in the player at a later date and it will play and, occasionally, it will be the other way around with a disk that played okay before refusing to play ball. Bloody annoying at 11pm, either way!
  13. Star Wars: The Force Awakens in all it's Blu-ray HD glory. Quite enjoyed it, though I would have enjoyed it more had I not had to spend half an hour or so updating software before the ruddy disk would play.
  14. You can do that? I didn't know you could do that!
  15. Left handed people can turn it the other way up. *cough*
  16. New tat from Amazon. And at those prices they can keep it!
  17. As does this . . .
  18. ^ It's also where they tested the stealth fighter and bomber. If you have not read it, you might be interested in Skunk Works, by Ben R. Rich and Leo Janos
  19. Have you tried any of Iain M Banks novels? I would recommend The Player of Games as a good starting point; non-military space opera.
  20. I did once keep a £500 note in my sock when playing Monopoly. They thought I was out, but I jumped right back in! (Does that count? It didn't feel like cheating . . .).
  21. I say, this looks rather good!

Very sorry to see Ronnie Corbett has passed away, he was a key feature of Saturday night viewing when I was a kid. I must admit to getting a lump in my throat this lunchtime when I saw all the candle pictures on Twitter. There were four of them, you see... Very touching.
  23. Stalingrad, by Antony Beevor, may have some insights into this, but (obviously, given the name) it focuses on the siege of Stalingrad rather than the wider conflict.
  24. Classic FM's Hall of Fame.
