  1. For anyone who likes the Rivers of London novel's the first graphic novel, called Body Work, came out a couple of weeks ago and after a spot of trouble tracking down a copy I finally got it at the weekend and finished it last night. I was originally sceptical of a graphic novel of the books, as I didn't want anything interfering with my vision of the characters and the Folly etc. but that fell by the wayside in the wake of such a good story. I'd recommend it to anyone who like the books! The next hardback, The Hanging Tree, is out in June. Hurrah!
  2. ^ This was on my PC, which occasionally throws a fit when I try to watch a new Blu-ray. I think there is a bug in the PowerDVD software I use as I can put the same disk in the player at a later date and it will play and, occasionally, it will be the other way around with a disk that played okay before refusing to play ball. Bloody annoying at 11pm, either way!
  3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens in all it's Blu-ray HD glory. Quite enjoyed it, though I would have enjoyed it more had I not had to spend half an hour or so updating software before the ruddy disk would play.
  4. You can do that? I didn't know you could do that!
  5. Left handed people can turn it the other way up. *cough*
  6. As has nearly everyone else who has bought one.
  7. New tat from Amazon. And at those prices they can keep it!
  8. ^ It's also where they tested the stealth fighter and bomber. If you have not read it, you might be interested in Skunk Works, by Ben R. Rich and Leo Janos
  9. Have you tried any of Iain M Banks novels? I would recommend The Player of Games as a good starting point; non-military space opera.
  10. I did once keep a £500 note in my sock when playing Monopoly. They thought I was out, but I jumped right back in! (Does that count? It didn't feel like cheating . . .).

    Rest in Peace

Very sorry to see Ronnie Corbett has passed away, he was a key feature of Saturday night viewing when I was a kid. I must admit to getting a lump in my throat this lunchtime when I saw all the candle pictures on Twitter. There were four of them, you see... Very touching.
  12. Stalingrad, by Antony Beevor, may have some insights into this, but (obviously, given the name) it focuses on the siege of Stalingrad rather than the wider conflict.
  13. Yes, and others. Clancy wrote a number of books himself, and then his name became a franchise. If you only read one of his books, though, read The Hunt for Red October, which is excellent (and I think you will enjoy it if you like Cussler).
  14. As far as I am aware, nothing has been announced so far but I think FOX are pretty keen on doing more. I enjoyed the series; some parts of it worked better than others but overall I'd say it was far more hit than miss. I'll be interested to see where they take this, should it return.
  15. I can recommend a couple of Doctor Who titles for you: After Life, by Al Ewing & Rob Williams: 11th Doctor stories that capture Matt Smith's Doctor very well. Four Doctors, by Paul Cornell & Neil Edwards: 10, 11 and 12 plus The War Doctor! A good plot on this one, with some clever twists.
  16. One of the 99p books today is the excellent The Rook, by Daniel O'Malley.
  17. Have you got an iStore near you that you can check all of this in? I would be surprised if there wasn't an app (or apps) that allowed you to do all you want, but logic doesn't always apply when it comes to running competing products on competitor's platforms.
  18. ^ It was last year's winner, which may be why you have heard of it recently(?).
  19. Go back to dead tree reading, it doesn't need batteries and it doesn't break down!
  20. The Hugo award winning Three-Body Problem, by Cixin Liu, is one of Kindle's 99p Deals of the Day, today. (Sorry for the late heads-up!)
