  1. I know what you mean Frankie, I think you almost have to forget about the book to enjoy the film. It`s too off putting when you compare the 2, but it`s difficult not to. (if you know what I mean!)
  2. Ceinwenn, I think a dedicated JD group is quite a good idea, as long as we remember to visit it! Frankie that`s just how I felt when I first saw The Bone Collector! it took me a while to relax and enjoy the film. Infact I think it took 2 viewings.
  3. I`m glad Philip went, he`s too much of a bully at times and I couldn`t imagine him getting anybodys respect. I`m not a fan of Lorraine though she seems to think she`s so much better than the others, hope she goes soon.
  4. Oh, what a good idea a social group!
  5. thank you, I think I may well take your advice and skip the boring bits! I really want to enjoy reading it.
  6. I think you`re probably right about Jeffery Deaver (especially with the Lincoln Rhyme series) They are excellent. Start from the beginning and enjoy them RCee.
  7. Well done, you gave it a good try. I`m just begining to find it less of a chore, (still only on page 50 though)
  8. Blood Brother sounds very good I`ll be looking J A Kerley up. thank you.
  9. Glad you enjoyed The Stone Monkey. What`s next? I really like the Lincoln Rhymes books, I need a new one to be written though.
  10. Hello Suzanna, welcome to the forum.
  11. I`m sorry that the friend can`t be happy for her and give her support.
  12. It was so interesting it didn`t seem that long at all, honest! I really enjoyed it and would recommend his books.
  13. I hope the friend gets over her obvious disappointment and supports her, according to the newspaper I read, they fell out because of it. The last singer was very good, I really hope he manages to conquer his nerves.
  14. I agree with you, I did feel sorry for the violinist when she had to make the decision to audition without her friend though. She was pretty amazing, and proved she made the right move.
  15. Hello Sadya
  16. It`s funny you should say that - a chocolate chip cookie or two works wonders!

    Newbie!

    Hello RCee
  18. thank you Have a cookie!
  19. I think Dexter (Jeff Lindsay) should be a contender for that award as well!
  20. I can`t imagine reading Dexter in 2 languages, you`re so lucky (& clever too!) I can`t remember ever being quite so entertained by a book before - I absolutely love Dexter. I`m so glad he was introduced to me.
  21. It`ll be interesting to see if Debra loses the rude attitude now she`s been dressed down over it, she was so out of order. Don`t think Ben handled the boardroom situation very well, he seemed a bit panicky to me, but I think Sr Alan made the right choice in the end though.
  22. Dexter`s humour is great - I loved the bit when he said to Dr Danco, " I think you have him stumped " I couldn`t help but laugh out loud at times, my family think I`m loosing my marbles! I`m so glad I bought the book - that`s the best thing about this forum, so many ideas for good reading materials, that I wouldn`t have found otherwise. I`m going to read After Dark next, (read good things about it on here!) then it will be back to Dexter, maybe around the same time as you, or later if I make myself get stuck into Hunchie, which I`m struggling with! Hunchie........?.Dexter..........?
  23. I personally don`t think they`re that gory, it doesn`t really go into great, gory detail but, there are parts that made me think eugh! They are quite humourous, with some good one liners from Dexter!
  24. Darkly Dreaming Dexter A blood splatter analyst who also murders "bad people" for a hobby, and he doesn`t like blood - that`s Dexter Morgan. This was a light hearted, easy read that was very entertaining. highly recommended 9/10 I enjoyed it so much, I carried straight on and read................. Dearly Devoted Dexter Dexter`s getting a bit twitchy, he hasn`t killed for ages, he`s being watched by a suspicious police sergeant, (Doakes) who won`t let Dexter out of his sight! Then a badly mutilated, barely alive body turns up, and Dexter has to work with Sgt. Doakes to trap the torturer, one will have to be the bait -but can they trust each other enough for it to work? Another light hearted easy read, a bit of a black comedy really. Once again thoroughly enjoyed it and found it hard to put down at times. highly recommended! 9/10 I`m looking forward to reading Dexter in the Dark soon!
  25. I would have found it hard not to read it at my own pace, so I`d have taken it home to read as well!
