    Hello

Hello Ethan welcome to the forum.
  4. I should finish Hunchie in a day or two, then I`ll be ready for that deviously devilish, darkly demented, darling Dexter.
  5. I agree with you regarding the small print, why does it, in some books, need to be so tiny? I`ve been reading The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and the print is very small. I don`t see why the print size can`t be increased slightly. Of course in my case at least, a trip to the optician would help.
  6. Hate to say it but, I`ve read other poor reviews of Dexter in the Dark. You should read the first two Rwemad, they are very good.
  7. I think he`s better than Wogan, hope he does it again next year too. 5th was a good result for us.
  8. I love Graham Norton he`s brilliant!
  9. Certainly nothing special.
  10. It`s different!
  11. Good performance by Jade - don`t think much of the song though.
  12. Romania sounds quite good - but it reminds me of another song, can`t remember what though!
  13. Hello and welcome.
  14. Hello Wiggywoo You are certain to get lots of ideas here.
  15. My favourite bookstore is Waterstones, it`s so relaxing in there, more so than other book shops. I think W H Smith is my least favourite.
  16. I took this advice and I don`t feel that I missed out on anything. It was soon after this part of the book, that I started to really enjoy the story. The characters seem to be given more attention than the architecture after book 3, which makes the book much more interesting, in my opinion anyway! Hugo certainly paints a clear picture of the characters, and the atmosphere. I`m glad I managed to persevere with the book, in the first 50 pages or so it would have been easy to give up on it, but now (I still haven`t finished it) the storytelling is really making up for the hard work at the begining.
  17. I read all the Dennis Wheatley black magic books years ago, and really enjoyed them. One of these days I`ll have to re-read them I think.
  18. Ooo yum! I think I`ll be using that idea.
  19. Hello Escargot and welcome to the forum.
  20. After Dark - Haruki Murakami Synopsis (Amazon) The midnight hour approaches in an almost empty all-night diner. Mari sips her coffee and glances up from a book as a young man, a musician intrudes on her solitude. Both have missed the last train home. The musician has plans to rehearse with his jazz band all night, Mari is equally unconcerned and content to read, smoke and drink coffee until dawn. They realise they`ve been acquainted through Eri, Mari`s beautiful sister. The musician soon leaves with a promise to return before dawn. Shortly afterwards Mari will be interrupted a second time by a girl from the Alphaville Hotel: a chinese prostitute has been hurt by a client, the girl has heard Mari speaks fluent chinese and requests her help. Meanwhile Eri is at home and sleeps a deep, heavy sleep that is "too perfect, too pure" to be normal: pulse and respiration at the lowest required level. She has been in this soporific state for two months. Eri has become the classic myth - a sleeping beauty. But tonight as the digital clock displays, 00.00 a faint electrical crackle is perceptible, a hint of life flickers across the TV screen, though the televisions plug has been pulled. Strange nocturnal happenings or tricks of the night? My Thoughts This was the first book I`ve read by this author (as a result of reading good reviews on the forum) but it will definately not be the last, I really enjoyed it. I found it an easy book to read, I became absorbed by it. The language flowed beautifully. The characters were brought to life, and the events, even simple mundane things were captured brilliantly. I recommend it. 9/10
  21. I`ve just finished After Dark, I really enjoyed the writing style and the wonderfully descriptive language. It`s the first book I`ve read by Haruki Murakami, but I`ll definately be reading more in the future.
