  1. Thanks Ceinwenn! Absolutely agree! He definately had me fooled ... again! I would class him as one of the best thriller writers I've read and his formula definately does work. Mojo's still here thank goodness so I'm making the most of it! Looks like I'm back on track for my 52 books in a year challenge.
  2. The Empty Chair ~by~ Jeffrey Deaver Synopsis courtesy of Waterstones: Lincoln Rhyme has travelled to a world-famous spinal cord injuries center in North Carolina for some risky, experimental surgery. It may make him a tiny bit better, it may kill him. But before he has a chance to undergo it, the local police department are drafting in Rhyme and Amelia, using their forensic skills to help find two women kidpapped by a psychotic young man known locally as the Insect Boy. After a cat and mouse game through the abandoned swamps of North Carolina, Lincoln and Amelia manage to find him - then Amelia, convinced of his innocence, breaks the boy out of jail. And Lincoln has to find them both, while Amelia uses all the skills her mentor and lover has taught her to evade him. Her actions are to have more disastrous consequence than either of them anticipate ... My thoughts: This Deaver book took me a little longer to get into than all his other novels I've read and I think maybe it was partly due to the environment in which the story took place (I hate insects ) However, when it gripped me I could hardly put it down for wanting to see what happened next. Deaver is the master of plot twists and suprises and just when I thought I had it sussed, he throws another twist in the tale right up to the very last chapter! I ony have one small compaint, I think his books are becomming a tad repetitive, well the Lincoln Rhyme ones anyway. They're still a fantastic read with well thought out plots and characters, but he does seem to be following the same formula for the stories, although with that in mind, if you like one of his books chances are you'll like most of them! I'm still giving this a high rating, Mr Deaver still has a superb way of keeping you turning those pages as fast as you can! 9/10
  3. Loved your review Readwine, this sounds really interesting. I have The Sleeping Doll on my shelf but I think I'll work my way through the Lincoln Rhyme books first so as to be introduced to Ms Dance properly.
  4. Great review Gyre! Now I have yet another title to add to my wishlist!
  5. I'm a woman police officer and expert criminalist. I'm currently hiking my way through a dangerous swamp area along with 3 officers from the local small town police dept, trying to find a strange 16 yr old boy who has kidnapped two girls from the area, and supposedly killed a teenage boy who was trying to help one of them. Did I mention I used to be a model?
  6. Yeah the room's already painted, just the floor to tile and move him back in with a few new accessories.

Wow a job in Wales!! No wonder Nige is all excited  I will definately be rooting for ya on Mind you, hopefully be speaking to you before then. Nice to know you'll be home soon although on the other hand I hope you get the work until the middle of July, if you know what I mean?

Gonna go now and soak my old bones and joints. Will more than likely be on later so maybe cya then if you're here. Take Care xoxo

  7. Ooh sounds good! I've tried the old 'no more new books til I've read loads' rule but I've just about given up trying to stick to it!
  8. I will indeed. How are you finding Industrial Magic? Its on my wishlist
  9. I don't blame ya, I hate the things. I was really tempted to cut mine off before it was due  I'm ok thanks, my back is really sore today and consequently I ache all over :(. Good news is, Kookie's back in her old room, just a few bits and pieces to do, so that will be another room done, and now OH is tiling her brother's room so he's been moved lock stock and barrel into the spare one. Its a lot smaller but hopefully he'll keep it clean easier!

    What bout you? how's things?

  10. Great videos frankie! That one with the dog and cat was brilliant! That poor dog was so tolerant .. and I thought my dog was a fidget, that cat was terrible!
  11. Hey missus! I was just reading the what's up in june thread (I don't always :o) and seen that you've fractured your wrist! What on earth were you doing rolling about on the floor?? Just kidding! I hope its not too painful and heals quickly. I fell on mine and did the same about 3 yrs ago and was in a cast for 7 weeks! Really really inconvenient, at least you can take your splint support thingy off at night, trust me, that would have made a hell of a difference to me

  12. 'Snakes on a Plane' was terrible and the spoof scary movie ones are sooo bad they make American Pie ones look good.
  13. I have these on mount TBR ... .. I've read and enjoyed all of these, except for 1984 which I hated .. ... and I have this series on my wishlist! Looks like we have some similar taste Kimmy
  14. Oh so glad you're interested in this one, the main lady character is a modern day, beautiful woman too so no frumpy clothes or shoes in this one! Yes my new av is from the album on my profile all from the same artist, I think they're pretty cool and funky! Hope you're having a lovely time with your visitors and they all get home safely. Take Care

    Google Today

I was just on google too, it is good today.
  16. Great review Mac! So glad you enjoyed this. At last you did the right thing and gave him a shot! I haven't read 'Twisted' yet but it is on my bookshelf along with 'More Twisted' but its nice to hear that its good and I've something to look forward to, perhaps the best thing if my mojo up and leaves again! His novels are just as good. The best one IMO that I've read so far is 'The Blue Nowhere'. I definately suggest you get a hold of this or start the Lincoln Rhyme series with The Bone Collector Its so good finding a new author!
  17. I'd pay good money to see this!! You can now officially call yourself a Deaverette!!
  18. I think I may just write to Mr Lindsay and definately invite him to come along and check out our threads, I'll make sure I tell him that myself, you and Ceinwenn are busily trying to increase his fan base and have done so somewhat in the last few months! He should be bloody grateful if you ask me!

I'm reading The Empty Chair at the min and I hate to say it but it's taking me a while to get into after the Erica Spindler one. I really can't recommend Cause For Alarm enough, it took me by surprise I can tell ya!

I'll pm you my name for facebook too, I don't have many friends so I'll be delighted if you join me! :D

  19. Hey you! So glad you're getting you bcf mojo back :D It's pretty quiet without ya. Goodness Midsummer does sound like a big affair over there, seems a shame now that we don't celebrate over here. I love the way the climate is too, I've always loved the thought of living somewhere where the winters are snowy and dark but the summers are good. I hope you can make up your mind and will have a fantastic time!

Still don't know what we're doing about my son, sort of heading towards the idea of letting him stay and he knows it so he seems to be on his best behaviour! Hope it lasts  I see what you mean about him making sure he doesn't **** up himself! Never thought of it that way although he will be well warned if he does screw up it will be the last chance gets!

  20. I've just finished Cause For Alarm by Erica Spindler Pipread and I thought it was fantastic! I really think you'd like it. It's a bit Deaver like with more depth to the characters. So glad you enjoyed Dexter Lexie! Please do carry on, I believe the next ones are nothing like the series.
  21. I knew you guys would say something like this .... what have I done? ...
  22. I loved Dime Store Magic and its a toss up between it and Stolen at the min for me, although Lexie says Broken is fantastic. Oh yeah, Derek Gunn's vampires were class! The real deal, all the nastyness of vamps and none of the romanticism, more of an action book than the usual love stories that are so popular at the min, very different, but I really enjoyed it!
  23. Kookie is really into the Twilight book I purchased for my 'research'. Now she wants her own copy of the DVD ... good grief! I've created a monster!
