  1. Hello and !
  2. Lynn Kurland- "The More I See You". OK, so I'm a hopeless romantic every now and then. And should you feel the need to be foolishly romantic, this book will be perfect. And yes it was following the well-known formula for medieval romances (with a bit of time-travel thrown in), and yes I have read that a million times in all varieties, and I still will read the next version of the same story (and probably enjoy it too). This was the first book by this author I've read, but it won't be the last.
  3. I'd go for travel with a book too, like Chrissy. If I had to choose between reading about a place and travelling to it, then definately travelling.
  4. I've read "Pillars of the World" by Anne Bishop. I think she's a good writer, and it was a readable book, even if it wasn't one of her finest. I also read a little book with short stories by Megan Whalen Turner, "Instead of Three Wishes". Very readable, and suitable for a person like me who wouldn't know what to do with three wishes if I had to wish for things, and wouldn't want to be a king even if I was supposed to. Come to think of it, "Pillars of the World" is also about the "little" life, about how things really are instead of how they seem. I like that.
  5. ..and what a suitable title to read in the morning!
  6. I really loved "Getting the Girl"- hope you do too!
  7. No silence needed- I usually read in front of the TV when my husband watchs something.
  8. I'll agree with the creative, but I didn't love it.. Can't really specify either why I didn't love it. Like, sure- love, no.
  9. "Equal Rites" by Terry Pratchett. A fun read..
  10. Congratulations!
  11. Chesilbeach- how about those who read both chick-lit/romance and crime/mystery/horror? (And everything else, for that matter). Come to think of it, I know what it says about my personality- hopeless book-addict!
  12. I should be getting into my "murder and mayhem"-mood now- I usually do when it's autumn. But this last year has been exceptional in that I have read all kinds of books all year round, and also I've started to read a lot of fantasy all year round. It used to be that I read fantasy and ghost stories in midwinter. I'm developing a new pattern I suppose- but being a person who is deeply affected by the season's changes I have no doubt I will see the new pattern in a couple of years.
  13. It might be a good idea!

  14. I retuned to R A Macavoy and "Twisting the Rope". NOW I was in the mood for it. I didn't find it as good as "Tea With The Black Dragon", but it was still an enjoyable read, and Martha MacNamara and Mayland Long are two of my favourite people in the fictional universe.
  15. Happy birthday! All the best to you, hope it's a wonderful day

  16. I have read a lot this weekend. Charlaine Harris: "Grave Sight" and "A Secret Rage". I found "A secret rage" to be a bit more serious than her usual. Not bad, just different. Kelley Armstrong: "Made To Be Broken". (And I have done it yet again, starting a series in the middle.. I have yet to read "Exit Strategy"). I definately did not like this heroine. Still, a decent read, no skipping pages. Then I finished two books I had started some time ago, Glen Duncan "I, Lucifer" and Johanna Sinisalo "Lasisilm
  17. :5birthday:Happy birthay!

  18. I pictured with Vin Diesel- you know- the no hair thing.
  19. Poppy, I'm sure I will read "Fragile Things" sooner or later, Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite authors. Me, I don't mind the "explicit" content, like I said, some of what passes for romance these days is much more explicit. (And usually with the added "bonus" of it not really fitting in the story but rather serving as page filler. There's no excuse for filling pages just for the sake of it. Absolutely none. Not all books need to be 500+ pages.)
  20. Kelley Armstrong, "The Summoning" and "The Awakening". I mean, why not read two books in a day (more or less..)- they were good. Slightly less delicious than "Wuthering Heights", but only slightly.
  21. Pancakes and raspberry jam.
  22. Hey Andrea! Nice to hear what you've been reading!
