  1. I am also a fan of romance books. Now, romance books in general do not have a big budget for translations, so some of the translations that are made are absolutely horrible. Fantasy-books seem to have a bigger budget, for example Terry Pratchett's books are readable in Swedish too, and true to the original idea (which is often better than if they are translated word-for word). But generally it's better to read something in the original language, if it's at all possible.
  2. Lousy at updating. Well, here goes. "I am the messenger" was a lovely, lovely book with just as excellent use of language as I've come to expect by Markus Zusak. Then I read Kelley Armstrong, "Dime Store Magic". I liked that, too. I guess I'll start with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" next, even if I saw the film already.
  3. And then Australia, that would fill a lot of the map too. How about Markus Zusak- he's Australian right?
  4. I read Misery too. That was back in those days when I read every Stephen King book there was, and I loved them every one.
  5. I love it so far.
  6. I checked the website of the libraries around here, and one of them has Archangel in Swedish translation. I have some books to return to them as well. Unfortunately, no library visit in sight for me until Thursday at the earliest. I finished "Stolen", Kelley Armstrong, and continued with "I am the Messenger", Markus Zusak. It's a wonder I got to work at all. I have a feeling my husband won't be so happy with my lack of conversation tonight. It's not like he's not used to it, though..
  7. Hello! Hope you will enjoy the forum!
  8. Oh dear. I can see why this is the most dangerous recipe in the world..
  9. "All Together Dead" by Charlaine Harris. I realize there was a book here in between, but as I didn't get it the same time as the rest of the books, I had a short debate and read the one I had got. It will be in the mail soon I guess, but what's a girl to do.. I feel like reading a letter from a friend when I read about Sookie. And then I started "Stolen" by Kelley Armstrong. And read a few pages in " I Am the Messenger" by Markus Zusak, and waiting on my shelf is also "M
  10. Read "Dead as a Doornail" by Charlaine Harris. I really really like Sookie. She's like a dear friend.
  11. Oh wow, Finland DID win. I even had the TV on in the background when reading yesterday night.
  12. Sounds about right to me too. Canada will win. Unfortunately.
  13. Now Ceinwenn, Canada-Finland tonight..
  14. Just popped in to offer some more cookies.
  15. I did like "Fatherland", read it many years ago. Will try to find "Archangel".
  16. I often dream about what I read. And about people I meet, and things that happen, all in a big confused mess. I usually remember my dreams too. This night, my sons and I were on London's Underground, travelling back and forth (Neil Gaiman, "Neverwhere", I guess). We never seemed to get anywhere and we were in a constant rush.
  17. This weeks reading came with mixed feelings. The only book I read from start to finish was "The Eyre Affaire" by Jasper Fforde. That was only an average read for me, I foud it difficult to get in to. There were some clever jokes. I generally like reading about "what if", like what if the Crimean War never ended. Or what if Wales would be a republic. I also have a positive attitude to time travelling. All in all, I'm not rushing out to buy the next one, but I will probably read it someday. I also reread most of "Chocolat", Joanne Harris. And some romantic short stories. But a lot less than I usually read.
  18. Yeah I thought so, that's why I want to read the book first.
  19. I've been considering Marley and Me, mostly because I think I will go see the movie, and would like to read the book first.
  20. Thank you Frankie!
  21. I'll rely on you Frankie to give me the details.
  22. Oh, I think reading IS having a life. NOT reading would be to have no life in my opinion. Well, it does mean that perhaps I spend less time actually TALKING to people. But that's not just my reading, I am the kind of person with only a few close friends. On the other hand, I don't change those friends very often. If ever.
  23. Hmm. Girls game night. For THAT, I could also watch hockey.
