GCSE, 'O' level, 'A' level, cse, highers, standard, degree etc etc?
I remember doing Jane Eyre and Macbeth at 'O' level and certainly not appreciating either at the time.
That reminds me - I used to read a lot of James Herbert - I really enjoyed his early books when I was a teen. In fact I will still pick up his now . I enjoyed Creed and The Ghosts of Sleath, but I wasn't that keen on The Secrets of Crickley Hall.
I've just tried, this week, SunBites - Sour Cream & Cracked Black Pepper - They are just sooooooooooo scrumptious! I'm sitting devouring a packet and just about to get another NoCaf!
I have found that authors I used to enjoy 10 years ago - Wilbur Smith, Dean Koontz and Clive Cussler don't hold much interest for me any more. Has anyone else noted their favourite authors from a few years ago have taken a back seat ?
I wonder if many people think that - I certainly do. My daughter can lack confidence and I tell her not to worry as a lot of people do, but I tell her if you tend to portray confidence (even when you feel scared to death) you tend to get through. Well it seems to have worked for me and having gone through quite a lot I now tend to find that not as much phases me!
1. I think I can think too much at times.
2. Math and logic are generally my strengths
3. I drink "NoCaf", an organic coffee substitute, that tastes nothing like coffee!
4. I am quite fussy about the condition of my books and hate bent spines.
5. I don't feel I express myself in words as well as I'd like - lots of words seem elusive!
I did the same with"Jane Eyre"
I started to read "The Time Traveller's Wife" too and I too gave up on it - can't put my finger on why, but it's one I definitely intend to go back to and try again as a friend of mine really rated it.
I've only read Northern Lights and unfortunately I didn't enjoy it. Do you read a lot of her books and if so what would you consider one of her best books, so that I may give her another chance?
I read these many years ago (over 20 years) along with "The Imitation Game" (3 plays) I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. More recently I read "Black Dogs"
