  1. I think they have just lauched slimming world in America - they have a new plan to follow especially for the American market apparently. Anyway, have just been weighed this evening and have lost 3.5 pounds this week So i'm definately going to try my best to keep on going. It has been very easy so far, have mainly just been eating so much more fruit and veg than I ever have before!
  2. Hi Inver, I'm about half way through it. I'm finding it a little bit odd if I'm honest, it has chapters that I find quite boring and then others that I really love and make me what to keep reading to find out what going to happen next! I hope that makes sense to you?!

  3. I joined yesterday We'll see how it goes! Thanks to everyone for all the info and support
  4. I know a little bit about Slimming World, they have green days and red days. Green days are mainly veggie days and you can eat unlimited amounts of things such as pasta, rice etc. Red days are mainly classed as meat days and therefore the carbs are restricted. You also need to include certain foods for a healthy balance, like milk for example. Then they have a syns system, where all other foods have syn points - like chocolate, crisps etc and you are allowed a certain number of syns a day depending on your weight - I think! The reason I was thinking about joining slimming world over weight watchers is because i'm a veggie and it seems easier to just have green days were i'm allowed lots of quorn, tofu, pasta etc for free. As far as i'm aware these foods are free and you can eat as much as you like, so it seems easier than weighing things, which as Charm says can be time consuming and annoying. I've looked on the slimming world website and my local class meets on a Thursday and it says you can just turn up and join on the night. They do have a online and postal version too but I was thinking it might be more motivational if you actually have to go and get weighed in front of someone because otherwise it might be tempting to just cheat! I'm still not sure though, will have to see if i'm feeling brave when Thursday gets here!
  5. Is anybody on here a Slimming World member? I'm thinking of joining this week but feel quite unsure and intimidated by it all as I have never done anything like it before. Or does anyone have any better suggestions?
  6. I love Lost too! But it doesn't start back until the 25th of Jan, which is next Sunday Unfortunately I don't have Sky so will have to rely on my Mum being able to operate the recorder on her own!!!
  7. I'm a total hollyoaks fan, I think it's the best soap on TV Loving the whole Zoe, Mike, Sarah situation at the mo and also the Nancy, Kris and Ravi thing too!
  8. The Kite Runner movie from the book by Khaled Hosseini was awful, it did the book no justice at all. It makes it so much worse when the book is so fantastic and then the movie they make is dreadful
  9. Hi Ceinwenn, i'm good thanks. Sorry for not checking the bookring posts more often! Yes I would still like to borrow the book, I'll send you my address by PM x

  10. Yeah its good, I like it - I would definately recommend it
  11. I got the new Britney album today
  12. Hello, welcome to the forum - I hope you enjoy it here! My gran lives in Ireland, in Co Galway
  13. Oh, I quite enjoyed Snowblind - I haven't looked at the reviews on Amazon for it but am surprised it got slated. Anyway, sometimes I do look up a book on Amazon for the reviews if it is a book I haven't heard much about or the cover doesn't say alot, but most of the time I like to read them first and then read the reviews afterwards as sometimes they can unintentionally give away bits of the book.
  14. I've read all her books too but none of the ones where she was writing as Madeleine Wickham. I really enjoyed Remember Me? I thought it was funny and found it so easy to read, I finished it in just a few days
  15. Thanks for the great review Ruth. I've seen this one is Tesco a couple of times put have never actually picked it up to have a look, it sounds excellent and is one I'd like to try now
  16. I just finished Sophie Kinsella's latest book, Remember Me?, and it left me feeling very happy!
  17. Hi Louise, I thought it was such a good idea to try to read all the spread the word books from last year. Where they all mostly good so far, or were some of them a little bit on the weird side?

  18. Thanks Janet, I couldn't remember what it's real name was. I normally eat cheese and peas from my local takeaway - but I get them to make it with garden peas rather than chick peas - I know it sounds a bit disgusting but it really is delicious! I don't think my Tesco stocks paneer but I will have a better look next time I go in. It doesn't sound that hard to make but I don't think it can be as easy as it sounds - could it?
  19. A few movies that came to mind just now are: The Notebook The Prince of Egypt The Butterfly Effect American Pie The Shawshank Redemption Lord of the Rings Independence Day A very random list!
  20. Has anyone ever tried making Indian cheese? I have had it in a curry a few times and it is delicious. I have looked up how to make it on you tube but was just wondering if anyone had actually had a go at making it themselves at home? Is it as easy as they make it look on the you tube videos?
  21. I cried loads when I read The Time Traveller's Wife - it isn't even a particularly sad book - must have just been feeling emotional when I read that one
  22. 'Remember, there are only two things you can't hide - Ishq and Mushq; Love and Smell.' Ishq and Mushq by Priya Basil
  23. The time traveller's wife is one of my favourite books, I hope they do it justice in the movie version!
  24. I couldn't believe it when they just ended it like that! I think she has picked neither of them and has gone off on her own. If she leaves to go live with Henry then she won't be able to work at Mode anymore so will they be able to make a new series? I hope Daniel gets reinstated by his sister and everyone realises how evil Wilimena (sp?) is
  25. I think they have made a movie of Incendiary by Chris Cleave too - not completely sure though
