  1. I've only read two of the books from the 2008 list but enjoyed both very much: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and Incendiary by Chris Cleave. There are definately some interesting ones in the 2009 list which I will be looking out for
  2. I watched the first half but couldn't be bothered to stay up to watch the "results show" - i think that probably says what i thought of it It was ok, nowhere near as good as the other stuff he's done - and i think C4 just built it up so much that it could never live up to the hype.
  3. Hi Inver! Thanks, it just sounded quite interesting - i'll look forward to receiving it!

  4. I hope the gym coach becomes Hilda's boyfriend too - it was so funny when she almost chopped a bit of his ear off! I thought the ending was sad though for Betty, seeing Henry and Charlie so happy together with the new baby.
  5. I had one on Sunday - it says on the website that will be out on 6th October, but they're here already!
  6. Happy Birthday! I hope you have a nice day!

  7. Hey Kenny, I don't look at my own profile very much! Thanks for your message - I was trying to make the sheep my avatar picture but it went wrong! Never mind! I like your lego avatar pic tho!

  8. Hi Wordsgood,

I bought my book journal when I was over in Chicago last year in a lovely little independant stationary shop we found. It is quite a simple format, just a big notepad, spiral bound, with lots of pre-printed pages that I fill in as I finish each book. It has spaces for entering the following information: Title, Date Read, Author, Publisher, Date Published, Type of book,Recommended by, Received from, My interest in this book, Plot, Favourite Characters/quotes/lines, When I finished this book I felt, who would I recommend it to, any other books to read by this author or on this theme, any further comments, and a section for book loaned to information.

I like looking back over it from time to time and counting up how many books i've read since I got it. I wish i started recording the info ages ago!

  9. Have just read that due to the sucess of the Wispa relauch Mars will be bringing back Opal Fruits and Marathon bars too. Not sure if they're just going to be rebranding the Starburst and Snickers products - that seems a bit pointless to me, they seemed just the same when they did that the first time around!
  10. I thought it was good this week - with Daniel going out with Willamena's sister. I wonder what her secret is though? The first thing that popped into my head was that she used to be a man - but then I thought that they wouldn't put two transexuals in the same show - i don't know why that thought popped in there
  11. I thought it was a really good first show last night, don't have a favourite yet.... I thought all the women were awful as well Mia - should be interesting to watch them next week
  12. I just watched the repeat of this today - i quite liked it. I'm pleased it's on earlier (6pm) next week so it won't be clashing with X Factor! The TV critic in the News of the World today didn't think that much of it though - said it was ok but no where near as good as Doctor Who. But I liked it because it was so different to Doctor Who - not everyone likes sci-fi.
  13. I love Karin Slaughter too, her books are just so engrossing. I'm about half way through her new one, Fractured, which is based in Atlanta again with Will Trent rather than Grant County. Quite enjoying it so far
  14. I bought a beautiful book journal when I was on holiday in America about a year ago and have been writing them all in there ever since. I've been quite good up until now but have been neglecting it a little in the past couple of weeks - will have to make an effort to update it now
  15. I think that was the second episode Gyre, I watched it two weeks ago and it was about a fashion show and using really skinny models - that wasn't a repeat, was it?
  16. This one might sound a bit strange...but eggs. I have always hated them ever since I was little but in the past few months I have tried scrambled aggs and an omelette and liked them! I still can't stand the look or smell of boiled or fried eggs though, but I guess it's some progress!
  17. Being John Malkovich has to be the worst movie I have ever sat through, I just didn't get it.
  18. Birthday: 10th April Age: 25 Starsign: Aries Single/Married/Other? I have a boyfriend of two years Children? Not yet! Where do you live? Co Durham Do you work? Yes, full time Favourite author? Karin Slaughter, Sophie Kinsella and Chris Cleave Favourite book? Harry Potter series, Time Travellers Wife, Kite Runner, Thousand Splendid Suns......it could go on and on! How did you get here? Google
  19. I'm looking forward to Merlin too, but not as much as Lost coming back on. But i've just bought my first house so I can't afford Sky as it's so expensive So I will be toddling around to my parents house to watch Lost from now on
  20. I had some space dust a few months ago, they still sell it in the old fashioned sweet shops, I got a few packets of it when I was it Lincoln visiting my sister. It is still as yummy and weird feeling as I remembered it!
  21. I know its not a movie, but I really love Wicked the musical but the book was just so hard to read.
  22. She was so happy that she started crying, so I took that to mean she liked it alot!
  23. I hope you're right about them coming back in October! I don't know why I seem to like them so much more than just a normal bar of chocolate like a dairy milk and even aero doesn't come close! Yep I remember the mint and caramel versions, I liked the caramel one but wasn't so much gone on the mint flavour for some reason.
  24. Does anyone know if Cadbury have just stopped making Wispa'a again or are they still around somewhere? I really like them!
  25. Has anyone read any books by Chris Cleave? My sister and I have both read Incendiary and it quickly became her favourite book, so as it was her 21st birthday this week I dropped him an email to ask about personal book signings.... I really couldn't believe it when he replied to my email! I had asked him if I could post him a copy of Incendiary down to London or a cheque for a new book and postage costs etc, but he replied saying that he had a spare first edition lying around and that he would sign it for her with a birthday message and post it to me for free. All he asked was that I bought my sister a 21st birthday drink on him!! I had left it a bit late as it was her birthday in a few days so he sent it to me special delivery so that it came on her birthday - and not only that but he also included a copy of his new book, The Other Hand, signed for me and saying congrats on being such a great sister and that he hopes I enjoy his new book. I just thought I would let everyone know what a nice man he is (I didn't even expect a reply really) as we are both really happy with our new books!
