Last night I finished Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat who Touched the World by Vicki Myron. I had first started this a few months ago and then put it down to read something else but I picked it up a few days ago to finally finish it. I have mixed feelings about this book, it was enjoyable and a lovely tale but I did find my attention wandering which could be no reflection on the book! If you are a lover of books about books and libraries then I am sure you will enjoy this one.

I would really like to read a biography of Aung San Suu Kyi, does anyone have any recommendations?
-
I have to agree with others, although I moan to my class about judging books by covers sometimes book covers do just draw me in! I was in a booksshop yesterday and I was drawn to the most beautiful book on the shelf (not that I can remember now what it was!) and almost got it apart from the voice in my head that reminded me of how many TBR books I have on my shelves.

Of course! In fact I think your line would make a great signature quote!

I was hoping my copy would be arriving today but it hasn't

Thanks! During my degree I did a module on African literature and that was really interesting.

Hi Kiwi Book Lover! I have to say that one of my personal challenges this year is to try and read more literature from around the world as my reading mainly comes from the UK and US. So thank you for the recommendations, I will seek them out and let you know how I get on!

Don't know if I ever am, come to think of it, I have plenty of reality in my own life, what's missing are the unicorns and fairies.
I love this comment!

Just finished The Camel Bookmobile by Masha Hamilton, a fantastic read!

Thanks, I have used audible before and wondered if there was something else out there that I could use!

I also started to look into the world of audiobooks, and I've downloaded and started The Graveyard Book, plus I've downloaded and finished The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - off to find the thread for this one.
Can I ask where you are downloading them from?

I hadn't updated this for ages so here is a quick update of what I have read in the past month or so. It has been another bad month with about five half read books sitting on my table:(

I have always wanted to read travel writing but have never known were to start so this thread has really helped me.
Do you know I was going to post similar. I enjoy Bryson but have never really managed to attempt anything else. I regularly browse the shelves in shops picking up books in turn but never knowing which ones to settle on. Thanks for starting off a list for me!

I too have eyed this book up a lot in the past and after reading this thread have just done the deed and ordered it for myself! Thanks!

I now have even more flowers as well! And some carrots. And radishes. Help me stop!

Thanks I will do! I can't believe how much I am enjoying it! It poured with rain last night so I had to rush outside to check how they were doing lol!

Thanks for all the posts. An update! I have decided not to do the seeds because I am worried I will fail so instead I have got;
- tomato plants in a grow bag
- strawberry plants
- herbs
- peppers and chilli peppers
and some geraniums!
I also got a great book about container gardening that has given me so many ideas my small little pot is growing into a large container garden:)
-
Phew for the first part argh for the second part lol!
-
Argh is The Eyre Affair part of a series, should I not start with that one?
-

Thanks, I really thought I had changed that oops! I have now accepted the friends requests I have received:)

I am confused! When I do that link on Mr Library Nook's computer it just takes me to the main librarything screen as not signed in. B'ah.
Can someone try again and tell me what comes up?
-
You need to change your sig!
If you all join the BCF group it'll be easier to find each other.
Do you mean to say my LibraryThing name, I thought I had the LT link set up to go straight to my profile page so I will check that out. And already a member of the group, have been for ages!

Thanks all! I got some actual tomato plants and some herbs but then felt ill at the garden centre so came home. Will try again tomorrow to get some other bits.
