  1. One of my oddities is that I always make sure the volume on the car radio, the television or anything else with a numerical volume control, has to be on an even number. I have no idea why, but if someone changes the volume and I notice it's not on an even number, I will pick up the remote control or turn the dial to put it right.
I do a similar thing, I always have to have the car CD player at 20 or 30. not 21, not 28 only 30 or 20.

I also have a habit of drumming my hands/fingers on things when music is on or if there is a song in my head. I also twirl things between my fingers a lot absent mindedly.

  2. So what vexes you when it comes to books, other peoples reading habits or anything book related? Can you think of 5?

    Mine would be:

    4 - Using a book as a drinks coaster!

I will think of 5 in the morning, but this, THIS is just wrong. These "people" must be stopped immediately if not sooner.

  3. There is an apple app for audiobooks that has hundreds and hundreds of free audiobooks, that may be a good place to start, that way you can download the books straight to your ipod (I think they have access to the app store?)

  4. No matter how bad a book is i always finish it, it's like some sort of weird compulsion, so when i'm not enjoying a book it really does feel like a chore and i will drag it out for ages

in that case, I recommend you get Frankie Fraser's books, Sodomy and the Pirate Tradition, War and Peace as well as Crime and Punishment. They will take you mere minutes to read as they all simply fly along! :)

  5. I was gonna say I always use photobucket too, just tinypic for images that are random and I don't want to clutter my photobucket albums with them. For resizing, ehh I just use photoshop? Unless you just mean file size resizing and not pic dimensions resizing.

Okay, you know how when you say a word too many times it can look funny? I have that with resizing now. Anyway, if it's for making the dimensions of a picture smaller, photoshop works too, and it's not that difficult to use, some of the finer editing stuff can be a :), but image resizing is easy. ;)

yes but photoshop is a bit on the pricey side for simple photo editing. May I suggest if that is all someone needs photo editing software that is free they check out the fantastic open source GIMP

  6. I saw this the other day for the first time and was stunned I have never heard of it before, it is like a cross between Fahrenheit 451, nineteen eighty four and the matrix all of which I love. It was a nice surprise to see a movie that I enjoyed so much but knew nothing about.

  7. She is the parent it is her ultimate responsibility to protect the cards. Her son is 100% wrong I agree but she is not deaf dumb and blind, rather than blame the child she seems to blame the people not refunding it. How can they know if its fraud or not if it was done by her son from HER house (thus her IP address).

on a side note, how amazing a paragraph is:

Recently Bulgarian councillor Dimitar Kerin, a member of the Plovdiv Municipal Committee, was removed from a key committee because he couldn't resist milking his FarmVille cows during important meetings.
    :)
  8. I am a huge fan of true crime, something I seem to have picked up from my dad who for years read almost exclusively true crime. Some of my most enjoyed from the last year or so were

Homicide and The Corner both by David Simon (the writer of the tv show the wire)

The Devil's Dozen: How Cutting-Edge Forensics Took Down 12 Notorious Serial Killers by Katherine M. Ramsland

Witsec: Inside the Federal Witness Protection Program by Gerald Shur - this book is not so much about true crime but about the people who created and worked inside the witness protection program which has been instrumental in leading to so many convictions, I thought it was a very interesting tale to see how they started out as being the project no one wanted to work on to being a hugely important part of the criminal system.

Mafia Enforcer by Cecil Kirby - The story of Cecil who was the president of the Satans choice Motorbike club then left to become the top enforcer for the Mafia in Canada before turning witness against them.

No Angel: My Undercover Journey to the Heart of the Hells Angels by Jay Dobyns - Jay is an undercover agent for the ATF who over the course of years infiltrated the Hells Angels

  9. no. If teenagers can cope with the drugs violence and sex in school, home and their social life they should cope with it in books. Better yet they could learn to grow a pair and if they don't like something just change the channel/put it away rather than getting sue happy. These people annoy me beyond belief.

  10. Possibly.

I don't know how many people have heard by now that Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens are trying to see if they can get the Pope arrested when he visits England in September.

    Snigger.

It's a serious story but I can't help but laugh. Hitchens and Dawkins. What a crime-fighting team! :friends0:

What does everyone think? Does the Pope deserve to get arrested for covering up child abuse?

Since to me he's just a man who's tried to cover up horrendous acts of abuse I'm going to go with yes.

He should be treated the same as anyone else who's done what he's done.

Having said that I don't have all the facts. If anyone can point out that he was justified or that he hasn't done what's being claimed then fair enough.

Edit: Whoops. Didn't notice that big old In the News thread. Should have put this there.

he should of course be arrested, anyone else would be at least detained and questioned.

  11. I have bother closing messenger and yahoo. Yahoo messenger insider does does not respond. Facebook is the biggest culprit. I play games on it and not all the games do "not responding". I left here for a few minutes to get some food and when I came back they were showing facebook and a message about the script whether to stop or continue.

What web browser are you using? It sounds like either the web browser is crashing or the machine cant cope with what you are doing.
