I'm embarrassed by the fact that I've never read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, or anything else by Mark Twain for that matter. I feel like it makes me less of an American.

I forgot another one of my favorite movies to watch at Halloween: The House on Haunted Hill (the remake...I have to watch the remake since my brother's friend's brother is in it). I just watched it again today.

Here are 5 facts about me and my boyfriend, whom I've been with for 12 years: 1. He obsesses over everything! He's currently building a car and drives me crazy discussing and worrying over every detail. In fact, he's doing it right now. 2. We have the same sense of humor, which is part of why we've been together all these years. 3. He hates anime and scary movies, which are two of my favorite things. 4. He loves vegetables (he actually craves them), and I won't touch broccoli with a ten-foot pole. We don't eat a lot of meals together. 5. We have no plans to get married (unless it becomes essential, because of insurance or other benefits), which drives my family crazy.

I always read Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist around Halloween...it's so spooky and scary!

A Tale of Two Sisters is high up on my list for this Halloween.

I like moves that are actually scary, not silly scary. I want to actually be frightened.

I LOVE The Yellow Wallpaper! It's one of my favorite short stories. I've also had The Mysteries of Udolpho on my wish list for a long time. And Frankenstein is just plain brilliant.

I like watching the original Halloween, Rear Window, and any Japanese horror films I've managed to get my hands on.

I SO want to live in that house! That has to be my favorite movie ever.

Chrissy, I had to laugh at that image of the preacher's wife! And I agree, parents should trust their kids more and should take more interest in what books they're reading. Don't give in to the fear-mongering of the paranoid, over-protective family groups trying to "save" the world's children.

Last of the Mohicans by James Fennimore Cooper is supposed to be amazing.

Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie is great and delves into modern Native American culture. Black Elk Speaks is also a must-read. It's translated from the Lakota language by Black Elk's son and told to John Neihardt.
