Hey, Mac! I'm doing pretty well right now. I love my new job and I'm getting closer and closer to graduating. How are you doing?

  2. Happy birthday!!!

  3. Oh, you had me confused! I thought you meant Queen Mary, Elizabeth's sister. I was all like, "Mary didn't have any children, what is Katrina talking about?" LOL...I'm very easily confused today.
  4. George W. Bush is my least favorite president, and in my opinion, he did a lot that damaged this country. Therefore, I think it would be kind of interesting to read his biography, to see his motivations and intentions behind some of his decisions.
  5. Honestly, I love a bowl of chicken noodle soup or tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Otherwise, I love to make my Garlic Gorgonzola Dip: 12 oz. of cream cheese 5 oz. of gorgonzola crumbles splash of Worcestershire sauce splash of dry sherry garlic powder Start melting the gorgonzola and the cream cheese in a non-stick saucepan on low-medium or medium heat. Add in a splash of Worcestershire sauce and dry sherry. Add in a couple of pinches of garlic powder (3-5 shakes out of the bottle). Once everything is melted together, serve hot with French bread. You can also add some cooked pancetta...it's amazing.
  6. Once again, we have removed your promotional post. Please see our Rules and Guidelines regarding promotional posts.

  7. I love Anne Rice's older stuff, mainly the Mayfair trilogy and the Vampire Chronicles up to about The Vampire Armand. After that, they're all boring. I detest Twilight, though, as most people here know. But we do have a lot of Twilight fans, as you'll see if you visit the Young Adult forum!

Thanks, Kell! I just changed my avatar, though. :)

  9. Around Christmas time I love to read Letters From Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's so adorable! I also like to read A Christmas Carol and Little Women.
  10. Until recently I had a 1988 Acura Legend, dark blue with a dark blue interior. It was in awful shape, so I sold it and my boyfriend gave me his black 1991 Acura Integra, which he built. It runs great (except that it needs a new muffler...right now it sounds like a lawnmower). He's now building himself a red 1994 Acura Integra GSR. Here are other cars I've had: 1972 Toyota Corona (nicknamed The Beigemobile)...hand-me-down from older brother, lasted for 4 months. 1985 Toyota Camry, beige and brown. Another hand-me-down from older brother. Had starter issues...I had to get pushed off the ferry several times. 1987 Acura Integra, silver. I loved this car, but the radiator was swiss cheese, so it constantly overheated. Then the muffler fell off while driving down the road, so my boyfriend strapped it back on with chicken wire. Then the brake lines went out, one at a time. Then the suspension broke....twice. Sold it for $44. 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, dark green. I borrowed this from my parents after they bought themselves a 2002 Lexus ES 300, nicknamed "Pearl". The speedometer didn't work, so driving involved a lot of guess work.
  11. I've merged this thread with an existing one about second-hand books. I personally love used books, and will always buy used when I can...unless the book is pretty much destroyed, or smells bad.

    Happy birthday, dear Mac!!!

  13. A lot of people who have dogs fence in their yards, so the dogs can have the run of the yard. There are also a lot of parks that have areas for dogs to fun around. I agree that it is sad that dogs can't just run loose, but it's just too dangerous. Speaking of dangerous, there was news today that there have been bear sightings on my street. Yeah, I'm staying inside for now.
  14. Yeah, most communities have leash laws, in order to protect people, other animals, and the dogs themselves. Whenever our dog would get off her leash, she would run away for two or three days at a time and was unable to find her way back. She would always come back filthy after taking a dip in a nearby swamp. And one time she got loose and killed one of our neighbor's chickens.
  15. Woman Attacked By Bear This is where I live. This is like two miles from my house.
  16. Happy birthday!!!

  17. Abby, that is so cute! I'm about a month away from putting up a Christmas avie, but I love yours!
  18. Happy birthday, Nicola!!!

  19. The best resource I've found for virtually every one of my papers is Google Books and Google Scholar. I've been able to find resources on everything from literature, history, science, and everything else.
  20. I have deleted the promotional post you posted in the Fiction forum. Please see our rules regarding promotional posting.

  21. I'll probably buy some Catholic-ish book for my dad (I'm sure he has a list), and maybe something by Neil Gaiman for my older brother, or something like it. I love buying books for my nephew, so I'll just browse the little kids' storybooks and buy ALL of them!
  22. I'm watching election coverage, too! A lot of surprises tonight, especially in Nevada! Now, if only my state's senate race will hurry up and finish...
  23. Happy Halloween, everyone!!
