  1. I really hate the webuyanycar.com adverts. The tune is so annoying! At the moment I really like the Vodafone advert where the daughter phones her dad after splitting up with her boyfriend. Having just been through something similar it makes me smile and feel sad at the same time.
  2. I hate seeing people folding the corner of the page. Get a bookmark!!! I hate seeing people breaking the spine of a book. There's no need!!! When I get the bus to work in the morning I see many people doing both of the above. I have to hold myself back because I'm always tempted to say something to them. I love books and it just hurts to see someone treating them badly. I remember, one of my mates folded the front cover over of a book and pressed down the spine in front of me, breaking it completely. I gasped and almost caused a major argument. She told me it was her book and she could do with it as she pleased. I understand that but I wanted to break her spine after seeing her do it to a book! (not really!)
  3. For me it would have to be Jill Mansell, Katie Fforde, Paige Toon and Linda Green.
  4. Loved your stories Mountaingirl. I love spooky stories and I have a few of my own. I'll tell you the nicest one for now. When I was 12 years old my cat Puss had to get put down because she had Cancer, she was 18 years old and had lived a good life. When she was a really small kitten my dad rescued her and three of her siblings from being drowned - unfortunately it was too late for her siblings but my mum and dad gave Puss a home. She was very playful and would get under my mum and dad's feet, one day my dad accidently stood on her paw. Puss was left with a claw that would retract properly. It never bothered her too much although she would occasionally get the claw caught on the carpet. When Puss got put down, I was distraught. I'd known her all my life and suddenly there was no cat there to welcome me home from school and I was completely lost. The night after she got put down, I woke up and saw my bedroom door slightly ajar. It was usually left that way so I wasn't too bothered. But then I heard a familiar noise. Puss's claw getting caught on the carpet. I thought I was dreaming and I didn't see anything. When I woke up the next morning, I saw the indent on my duvet as if Puss had jumped on my bed and had fallen asleep. I got a huge amount of comfort from that experience.

    Hey!

Hi Erin! Welcome to the forum!
  6. I don't drink much alcohol but when I do it's usually a Vodka and Lemonade although I'm known to like the odd Woo Woo cocktail. I usually drink Strawberry flavoured water or Sprite. And if I drink bottled water, it can only be Volvic. I'm picky! lol

    I'm back

Thanks for the warm welcome back. I have kept in contact with some of you via facebook and I'm glad about that. Well, to be really honest. I used to be a chick lit junkie but having split from my boyfriend recently, I can't stand the lovely dovey stuff at the moment so I'm getting hooked into crime. I'm reading The Timer Game by Susan Arnout Smith and it's really good! I might get back into Chick lit sometime but it's too soon to tell.

    I'm back

Hey everyone! I'm back although I'd be surprised if anyone had missed me. I was never a regular member on this forum when I first joined - I just chipped in when I felt confident enough to say something worth saying:blush: I lost my reading mojo a while back and haven't read a book in months but I'm slowly getting the reading bug back and I thought I'd come back here too. I hope to be a more regular member now - I love being part of a forum where everyone loves books and reading. Hope everyone is well! Paige
  9. I'm watching the finale tonight. I was going to get up at 5am to watch it but in the end I was too tired. My mum got up to watch it and said she almost had a heart attack because at 5am there was a 'Technical Fault'! Argh! Luckily they sorted it out though. I heard a few things from the comfort of my bedroom but nothing that will spoil it for me. Looking forward to it:mrgreen: I've already heard some reviews - again, I've managed to avoid any spoilers.
  10. I absolutely HATE that Cadbury advert! It completely freaks me out! The little children look demonic. But I find the bit near the end with the balloon a little funny. It's such a weird advert! I wish Cadbury would make decent adverts though, but I suppose it gets people talking about their product.
  11. I love love LOVE this book! I'm eagerly awaiting the film! But the book is amazing! I read this right after I finished The Da Vinci Code (which I also loved!) It had me at the edge of my seat! I don't care if people think Brown's writing skills are a bit poor - it's a blooming good story! I've read Digital Fortress and Deception Point too. I found Digital Fortress poor but Deception Point was good. I like the Robert Langdon stories best though. I hope Dan Brown's new book is out soon although I think he's having problems since it was meant to come out years ago!!
  12. I recently watched the film version and I've never cried so much in my life! The emotions are so raw! A beautifully made film and I'd certainly read the book after seeing the movie.
  13. I LOVE this show! I want to be a believer but I'm probably a sceptic at heart. I've heard so many stories about this show being faked and I don't know if it is or isn't but I think it gives good entertainment. I loved Derek Acorah for that - he put on a good show whether you believed him or not! I've missed a couple of night (Saturday's and last night's) but have seen all the others. I'll be glued to the tv tonight too. This 'Jake' "person" is a little on the scary side! I can't wait to see if he reappears tonight!
  14. I absolutely love this advert too! I have a little cuddly 'Munkey' and often want to dance around the kitchen with him! lol!
  15. Welcome to the Forum, Beth!
  16. I was exactly the same when we lost our cat Sparky three years ago. It's like losing a limb! You keep expecting to see their little face looking up at you.... Even now, I still cry over Sparky. And now I have to deal with the prospect of losing our other cat, Bobby and it hurts!

It gets easier in time but it still hurts.

One thing that really gets to me, is when people say, "Oh it's just a cat!". No! Definitely not "just a cat!" Member of the family! Pets are members of the family just as much as any humans!

  17. I'm truly very sorry to here about Tigger. My thoughts are with you! I read your post and it brought home to me that that'll be my situation some time in the future. Losing a pet is torture! Keep well! xx

  18. I don't like him! He looks weird and he's too young! Keep the Tennant!!!
  19. I like Angels and Demons. It's much better than The Da Vinci Code, but I liked that one too. In fact, I like Dan Brown and I'm not afraid to admit it. I give authors two chances. If I don't like a book I put it away and try again much later. If it doesn't grab me the second time I get rid. If I manage to finish a book but I'm not overly fussed. I might get a second novel by the author and read that one. If I don't like that one, then I draw the line at trying any more.
  20. For me, books always have to be in mint condition. If I see a broken spine or folded corner I feel like I'm going to faint. On the bus to work each morning I want to shout at people I see who fold pages or break spines. I almost fell out with a mate because she folded the front cover back of a new book and broke the spine in front of me. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. She looked at me like I was mad and said, 'It's my book I can do what I like with it.' It nearly broke my heart.
  21. I finished Remember Me yesterday. Pretty good story - I liked it.
  22. I missed the final and only found out that Tom won this morning. Funny that - considering he should have got the boot last week. I can't really comment since I haven't seen the dancing so maybe he deserved to win, I don't know. But I still think something fishy went on.
  23. Braveheart Never Been Kissed Bonnie And Clyde Face/Off Bruce Almighty
  24. So who cares what the public think! Let's just go with the judges verdicts. Let's take all entertainment out of the entertainment show! Strictly Come Dancing wouldn't be Strictly Come Dancing without the dodgy celebrities dancing or the public vote. It would be Come Dancing again. And that particular show was taken off the air because no one watched it.
