  1. ^Oooh, thanks for the tip; will check it out! I don't think I have a FarmFoods near me though. Actually I've never heard of them, but looking it up, the nearest to me is the next town over! Coool!
  2. Welcome back, Galactic Space Hamster! Cute name! I don't think I was around when you were here before, but I the name sounds familar!
  3. More often than not, I don't buy a book when I go into a bookstore. It's mainly down to the fact that I must have probably over 100 books that I own, that I have yet to read. But also, I have a great local library which has a great selection. It also comes down to money - I'm not keen on buying something that I may only read once. If I do buy a book, then it's usually because I've heard such great things about it that I have to have it, or I'm a fan of the authors previous work.
  4. Just finished The Stand. Took me about a month to read. Once again, I picked up on some things that I'd completely forgotten about . This is such a great book; it has to be Stephen King's best book. Even though I know the story so well, and I know exactly what's coming, I just love reading the words again. It has to be my most re-read book! Kell, I've never read the original, shorter version, so I don't know what was replaced. I would like to read that version, just to see how different it really is. I think it would be hard to not fill in the missing bits though, given that I have read the 'Uncut' one so many times. For those of you who love quizzes, I found a series of them for The Stand here. Enjoy!
  5. I'll second Alias Grace as a great read.
  6. Oh, the picture of the doll? Yus, I have to agree - it is a bit freaky looking.
  7. Hiya Kenny! to the forum, and happy birthday for last weekend.
  8. Hiya Purplegrape! to the forum!
  9. I voted 'Don't do it, Evil book defacer.' I see you have already made up your mind. Good choice!
  10. Nope, not me! I've yet to read my book!
  11. Seriously? That's impressive! What's your secret?
  12. I read both of these years ago, though I do recall giving up on Brave New World. I found both these books while I was packing up my things to ship to the UK. I've set them aside to take in my suitcase, so I'll be able to start reading them in a week or so (once I finish The Stand). Really looking forward to these! What I do recall, is that they were both pretty much opposites of each other, which struck me as interesting. I guess it's just the mindset of the authors. Anyway, can't really comment until I read them, so I'd better shut up now!
  13. Ah, ok - thanks for clearing it up, Princess Orchid. It was a bit confusing, as in my mind, reception room refers to a waiting room (like in a doctor's office).
  14. Is a reception room the same as a lounge room? I'd never heard that term before I moved to the UK!
  15. Hiya Severnlad! to the forum!
  16. My mum has just made a delicious Upside Down Apple Cake! Yummo! I love those kinds of cakes because they are not too sugary.
  17. It depends on the book. There have been a few books which I have read in one sitting, or within a day or two, but they were usually very fast-paced, easy reads. I probably read about 50 pages a day, give or take a few.
  18. Interesting - thanks for posting the link. I never realised he was a Southerner! He's got that Southern drawl thing happening! The Innocent Man has been on my TBR list for a while now; a friend of mine read it recently, and said it was a good read.
  19. ^I stopped after the second book, as fantasy isn't really my genre. I was getting overloaded on the series and needed a break; I still hope to finish it someday though.
  20. All over - in the lounge room and in the bedroom. Husband has had to build several shelves to accomodate. I have also had to stick some in the cellar, because I just don't have the room.
  21. My goodness, Kell! You finished already? I'm still going - just over halfway, and I've been at it for about 3 weeks. I'm thoroughly enjoying it, though!
  22. Hiya Adam! to the forum!
  23. Hi Korrie and Kirstykat! to the forum!
  24. Uh-oh! I better get cracking, then!
